Southampton make one change for trip to injury-stricken Burnley

Ralph Hasenhüttl has made just one change to his Southampton side as they travel to Burnley in Gameweek 3.

The Saints were opened up time and time again in a 5-2 home defeat to Spurs last Sunday but, despite that poor result, Jack Stephens (£5.0m) is the only player to lose his place.

Jannik Vestergaard (£4.5m) comes into the back-four as Stephens drops to the bench, while key Fantasy assets Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) and Kyle Walker-Peters (£4.5m) retain their starting berths in defence.

It is also an unchanged attacking setup for Southampton as Moussa Djenepo (£5.5m) and Stuart Armstrong (£5.5m) provide the width for Danny Ings (£8.4m) and Che Adams (£5.9m).

Meanwhile, Burnley are painfully short of key players once again, especially in defence. Sean Dyche is forced into pairing Jimmy Dunne (£4.0m) with Kevin Long (£4.5m) at centre-back.

Dale Stephens (£4.5m) makes his debut in central midfield, while a shortage of wider options pushes Josh Brownhill (£5.0m) onto the right.

Chris Wood (£6.5m) leads the line, as per usual, but injuries to his team-mates means a first Premier League start of the season for Matej Vydra (£5.0m).

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; C Taylor, Dunne, K Long, Bardsley; McNeil, Westwood, D Stephens, Brownhill; Vydra, Wood.

Southampton XI (4-4-2): A McCarthy; Bertrand, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Walker-Peters; Djenepo, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Armstrong; Adams, Ings.

OK without impressing. He played on the wing and hit the crossbar in first half.

Terrible. He looked lost, changed positions very frequently and didn’t get enough of the balls. He also had no spaces to run into and only notable contributions were the shot against the crossbar and the assist of assist of CHO’s goal.

Terrible, lost possession countless times and was anywhere except where the danger was. Did hit the crossbar though.

From the game I saw, I don’t think WBA is a tasty fixture. They’re such a negative team and load the box with so many players. Chelsea’s goals weren’t spectacular. Only a team with very creative players might thrive against them for assets to haul.

Check the rules on the FPL site too. They explicitly state what gives BPS, so you can get players to take advantage of it. James is a BPS babe.

Shouldn't Azpi's assist over-ride that though? Or Bartley's goal? I like James as a player just don't see how that performance justifies a BPS over those players. I'm talking objectively here, not expecting you to change the BPS.

Yeah it doesn't really make sense considering that Azpilicueta got an assist and Bartley scored a goal. Remember a few like that with Trent in the past.

Need to take an 8pt hit to get in KDB - is it worth it, or wait another GW, with inevitable price rises and only take a 4pt hit.
Would bring in Lamptey at same time and (forced transfer to get some funds, probably Robinson from WBA as a cheap bench striker who's going to rise in price.

Burnley are one of the few teams that Southy's high line is perfect for because they don't have any pace. Most other teams have some players that will gallop into that space.
