Budget midfielder Burke starts up front for Sheffield United in Leeds derby clash

FPL midfielder Oliver Burke (£4.5m) earns a second consecutive out-of-position start for Sheffield United in Sunday afternoon’s Yorkshire derby.

The Blades’ new signing keeps £5.9m men Billy Sharp and Oli McBurnie on Chris Wilder’s bench.

John Fleck (£5.9m) – who has a slight knock – and Oliver Norwood (£4.9m) are also among the substitutes, while Jack O’Connell (£5.0m) is a notable absentee from the matchday squad.

On O’Connell’s injury, Wilder told BT Sport:

Really bad news from our point of view. Jack’s possibly going to be out for the season.

He needs an operation on a knee that he injured last year.

With O’Connell sidelined, Jack Robinson (£4.4m) lines up alongside loanee Ethan Ampadu (£4.5m), who is deputising in the heart of the Blades’ defence for the suspended John Egan (£4.9m). Robinson could now be set for an extended run of games in Wilder’s back-three system.

The visitors make one enforced change from their 4-3 win against Fulham in Gameweek 2.

Tyler Roberts (£5.0m) replaces the injured Pablo Hernandez (£5.9m) in midfield.

Forward Rodrigo (£5.9m) did come into the Leeds XI in GW2 after Hernandez pulled up in the pre-match warm-up, though Marcelo Bielsa signalled that Roberts could be favoured in his press conference ahead of Gameweek 3.

The Leeds United boss also put a two-week timescale on Hernandez’ return.

FPL bosses who have invested in players such as Patrick Bamford (£5.7m), Mateusz Klich (£5.6m) and Helder Costa (£5.6m) will be hoping Leeds’ goalscoring exploits can continue against a makeshift Blades defence.

New defensive signing Diego Llorente (£4.5m) is not part of the Leeds squad after joining on Thursday.

Sheffield United XI (3-5-2): Ramsdale; Robinson, Ampadu, Basham; Stevens, Osborn, Berge, Lundstram, Baldock; McGoldrick, Burke.

Leeds United XI (4-1-4-1): Meslier; Dallas, Cooper, Koch, Ayling; Phillips; Harrison, Roberts, Klich, Costa; Bamford.

I like C if you already have TAA, otherwise A is fine but I would like to change the defenders to TAA+ a 4.5

No pool defence is fine right now as I don't expect them to get any clean sheets. Triple city is a bit risky if they only score 1 or 2 goals meaning at least 1 will blank.

Yea he said he would but it seemed very uninspiring so wasn't sure he would actually do it. His reasoning was basically 'this guy who was the luckiest manager in the world with captains last season is going Werner so therefore I will also go Werner'...

    Stupid is as stupid does.

I rage transferred Brüno for Rashford - during the match - only to see Brüno get a double haul.

So now I want him back.

If I click the Free Hit chip, will I see Brüno back in my team the next GW? Despite the transfer being confirmed before I clicked FH?

    1. The Big Fella
      • 7 Years
      3 years, 6 months ago

      1) Don't hit the FH chip - what you have done is stupid, that would be really stupid
      2) No, you wouldn't. He is in your team now and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 is incorrect. You would get Bruno back but don't use the FH.

Your response to #2 is wrong. The Free Hit Chip will revert your team to what it was "at the start of the Gameweek".

As long as after the deadline for GW3, Bruno was in your team, if you use dthe a Free Hit chip, he'd be back in it for GW5.

I agree with the response to #1 though. Don't waste the Free Hit chip now. It'll come in very useful later in the season.

Calm down and keep Rashford. He's got a good record against his next few opponents, quite a few big teams.
If you remember Lateriser's (I think) table showing big hitters against the big, mid, and small teams (Kolarovs, Lescotts, and Brambles), then you'll see that Rashford had the best goals+assists record of the lot against the Kolarovs. However Bruno had one of the lowest against the Kolarovs.
That may change, but that's what the data said...

Nope, it reverts back to the team b4 you hit the Free Hit. So back to Rashford in other words.

When we play against a team playing a two up top formation Bielsa always opts for a back 3, and as a result Dallas generally slots into midfield.

I am not a patient fpl player, I think I will take him off for Ingsyy, who has a nice fixture next. Dont like to wait for a player/team to start firing after a luckluster perfomance yesterday.

Yup. I was reluctant to remove Ings on WC, but Chelsea hype was too much to resist. Learned the lesson again though, dont take out players who are doing well and have nice fixtures next, even for popular/hyped players.

Leeds are playing a back 3 to counter Sheffield's two strikers. This is why I keep saying Leeds have no set formation, they just use the 'opposing formation' to their opponents. Bielsa explains it all in his lecture. Good luck to Neale in the team news section.

Yeah, at times last season Harrison just opted as our entire left side, we’d sometimes have Ayling, Dallas and Costa/Hernandez operating as a RB, RWB & RW whilst Harrison covered all three on the opposite wing.

Throughout the season Dallas will often play OOP either on wings or centrally through the middle depending on the formation we face.

                  Fascinating to watch.

In his lecture he was priding flexibility above all else. Players being able to operate in multiple positions was vital to him, along with speed and hard work.

Yeah, there’s a few who are fairly rigid, but a lot of the team are positionally very flexible. It’s a running joke that Dallas in particular can play almost anywhere! Phillips often drops into play CB too and we play inverted full backs with Ayling & Dallas overloading the middle. Also last season when we loaned Nketiah he initially wasn’t too bothered about getting a back up on the basis he felt Roberts/Harrison could cover Bamford there if needed.

I wouldn’t worry too much. I spent all pre-season deciding between Harrison & Klich and Dallas & Ayling. I opted for Harrison & Ayling, and whilst it’s not worked out totally yet, all four will prove good value throughout the season. Although Harrison to Klich for the penalties is tempting me!

The defence should tighten up once Koch & Cooper develop a partnership and Koch learns our style of play, and similarly Ayling & Dallas will both get forward...a lot. Plus, we’ve now got Llorente too who may replace Koch depending on form.

Capello contested Bielsa's strategy by saying that you lose the benefit of having specialists. He says the benefit of specialists outweighs the tactical benefit of flexibility.

Also Bielsa likes to match man for man in central midfield so he can apply an immediate press, but against better opposition going man for man will probably go against you. As we saw against Liverpool...

There are many management views out there.

Sheff Utd need to pull their hands out of their pockets and sign Brewster.

Would be a top signing for them, and would make my WCed team look miles better! (the latter reason being the most important)

Teams lime Sheffield and Burnley always take a few games before starting playing much better. With Brewster, I think he will be decent there. My concern is we would probably still need to go 3 big on forwards this season, with all the option we have.

It’s funny how my team is reverting back to the template from a lot of last season. Fernandes, Salah, KDB, TAA, Jimenez, DCL etc. Feels comfortable. Lesson for next season - don’t go with unproven players. There is 1 to 2 GWs upside max in the very unlikely scenario that they hit the ground running. Go with the tried and trusted, and adjust from there to new season trends.

Adjustments I’ve made are bringing in KWP, Lamptey, Rodriguez

Yep, I'm not making the same mistake as I did with Werner this year.

Any new signing, no matter how promising, is getting scouted thoroughly before I bring them in

I think there's something in that. I think we're back to a 3-4-3 but with cheaper defenders, but some alternative emphasis on whether to go big up top of concentrate on midfield.
