De Bruyne fit to feature as Foden gets another start for injury-hit Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m) has recovered from a midweek blow to the head to start for an injury-ravaged Manchester City in their first home league match of the season.

Leicester City are the visitors to the Etihad, with kick-off at 16:30 BST.

The pre-deadline rumours surrounding a possible absence for Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) turned out to be true, with the Brazilian ruled out for a month by his manager in quotes released on Saturday night.

With Sergio Aguero (£10.4m) also sidelined until the end of October at the earliest, one of Pep Guardiola’s midfielders will be leading the line against the Foxes this afternoon.

De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling (£11.5m), Phil Foden (£6.6m) all keep their places, while Riyad Mahrez (£8.4m) steps up in place of the injured Jesus.

Guardiola’s only other alteration from Gameweek 2 sees Eric Garcia (£4.9m) replace John Stones (£5.0m) at centre-half.

It’s wasn’t far off a case of the City starting XI picking itself, particularly in attack: Ferran Torres (£7.0m), who hardly has bags of experience himself, is the only senior midfielder or foward available to Guardiola on the bench.

Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m) are fit enough for substitute roles, at least, with the defensive pair having had their starts to 2020/21 disrupted by illness and injury.

Teenage striker Liam Delap (£4.5m) is also among the hosts’ replacements.

Brendan Rodgers, like his opposite number, has made two changes for this fixture.

The injured Wilfred Ndidi (£5.0m), who had been operating as a makeshift centre-back, is replaced by Jonny Evans (£5.5m), who returns from suspension.

Ayoze Perez (£6.4m) drops to the bench, meanwhile, with budget FPL defender Daniel Amartey (£4.0m) making a rare start.

James Maddison (£7.0m) is again only amongst the substitutes.

De Bruyne is the most-captained Fantasy asset of Gameweek 3, with just under one million managers handing the armband to the Belgian.

Over 800,000 FPL bosses brought De Bruyne into their sides following his 13-point haul at Molineux last Monday.

James Justin (£4.7m) has overtaken Jamie Vardy (£10.0m) as Leicester’s most-owned FPL asset, with more than one in five of us now owning the budget defender.

Timothy Castagne (£5.6m) is the leading points-scorer among FPL defenders, with both he and Justin registering attacking returns in each of their appearances so far.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Garcia, Ake, Mendy, Rodrigo, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Foden.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Justin, Amartey, Evans, Soyuncu, Castagne, Mendy, Tielemans, Praet, Barnes, Vardy.

Lot of butt hurt players here crying about their frankly poor de idioms. If you think it’s worth taking a hit to bring in city players against Leicester then you simply don’t understand football. If you think son becomes essential after a freak 4 goal display you are crazy. Law of averages says he won’t score for 10 weeks. If you do t understand that the rules have changed and penalties are more likely then you need to pay more attention.

Lei has a core Def missing with other leaks, and have a fairly low away win percentage how's that not understanding football?

and please could you elaborate on the "Law of averages" if it's anything other than the arithmetic meaning the word.

Law if averages. So will not score 30 goals this season. Or any season. So having scored 4, his goals per game can expect to be low going forward. Kane has one goal this year but will score 30 goals, so the reverse applies

how does this make any sense, at first you're making an assumption that "Son will not score 30 goals this season" and then basing your next statement on that, but that's a huge assumption, because you're just speculating that he won't score 30 goals, and then you're stating that a player that has 1 goal will score 30 goals. Like you're just changing your argument in both of their cases, how does it logically holds?

If you don’t understand what I’m saying then I can’t help you. Look at past performance and show me any evidence that Som can score 30 in a season. Conversely, Kane never fails to score 30 goals. It’s really quite simple. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns, but it does offer us a guide. Allied with form fixtures and opposition strength it provides a framework for decision making.

                a) Kane has only score 30 goals in 17-18 and 29 and 25 the previous season, the last seasons he hasn't scored more than 20 goals, so that's not true at all.

                b) I completely agree with the fact past performances can be a guide, but I still don't understand how does a law of average comes into play, where a player has the potential to score as many goals he can in isolation, but when put the team they're playing into the equation, that changes.

I hope I didn't come off as rude, I genuinely was just curious in you relating averages in that statement

It’s all good. Just giving my two pence. Annoys me to see people whinging about being robbed when they just make avoidable mistakes. My theory is debatable, granted, but my law of averages is no different to going with form. I just prefer to take a season view as averages do come into play. Short term form offers no guarantees either but for me is more risky

No such thing as law of averages. Son scoring 4 times doesn't have any bearing whatsoever on his future output (aside from the fact he's in good form so may be a bit more likely to score points in the short term)

Like I said, no guarantees. But I’d bet on Kane out scoring Son over a season barring injuries every single time. You would too I think. I use 30 goals loosely but my point remains the same. Like I said you can take or leave what I’m saying, but frankly all the people crying foul play and the game is being ruined, or this season is a joke.... it’s bull. You just made avoidable bad Decisions. WC before the window closes being another one
