Pro Pundits - Andy

Should we sell or hold Timo Werner ahead of FPL Gameweek 4 and who are the best replacements?

It is fair to say that Timo Werner (£9.4m) has not started life in the Premier League as Fantasy managers had hoped he would.

Chelsea have scored six in their first three matches but their new forward has managed just one assist in that run.

So the question is: Is it time we looked to replace Werner? And if so who for? In this article I want to talk about the possible options.

As it uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

    Good morning lads
I would like to know your opinion about Solly March. His numbers are pretty decent. Is it sustainable?

I watched the game and he had acres of spaces, not sure what United were playing at really, won’t be afforded that much space all the time and squandered a few good chances

I didn't actually see any mention of it here in the discussion of the game last night, how did Spurs look playing with wingbacks? Sounds like Reguilon got forward quite a lot and made a few chances, clearly made a mistake for Chelsea's goal but I suppose defending hasn't always been the thing he's best at.

We looked ok, deserved to lose on balance id say, because of the personel playing I don’t think you can read into it much

Spurs were excellent in the second half. Better team by far. Reg was very good. Got forward a lot and created the equalizer.

Hadn't seen much of Holly before but I thought she was good. Like her strategy of keeping Salah KDB Bruno has a penalty taking hub in her team, after using touches in the box and shots in the box to determine how likely a team are to win penalties.

Nice to see 3 different styles. AZ is killing it with Pereira.

The scoutcast has really fallen some exciting new shows like The Wire. It's gone from being the best FPL show out there years ago, to being the one I regularly miss and the one I'm not that bothered about missing.

I applaud having a female FPL manager on the show. I've listened to Holly a lot from the fantasy weekly show but she always repeats the general FPL Twitter bubble consensus and rarely gives an unique and original opinion.

Az shouldn't be doing an hour and a half on the scout and then two hours on black box within the space of a few days every week ... There's too much overlap and recycled content and repeated opinions.

Criticising someone's actions or reasoning, or something they can control, is great.

But criticising someone for who they are, something they cannot control, is extremely damaging.

You are free to be as much as a c0ck as you want, but I would criticise your decision to show a lack of empathy and kindness. Your words affect other people's lives.

I'm criticising FPL content and the standard of the scoutcast recently which has gone very stale. I simply don't care if I miss the show these days and it never used to be like that. It used to be top of the pile on my watchlist.

I would never criticise someone for who they are. And I don't understand how you can infer that from my post.

Yeah, I probably made an assumption there, I apologise.

But your post was a little callous. Dismissing their faces without linking it to criticism of the content could easily be misconstrued.

Fair point, but I am an FPL pod addict and so my opinions have been formed after listening to these guys over many years. The scoutcast is definitely the best show for diversity (too many white middle aged blokes on most other pods) but it is in need of a revamp and a shake up. There are so many good FPL pods out there eating into its market share. They need some more maverick guests on like myself who will challenge the groupthink and get a robust debate going.

This diversity thing is a load of shite though and a problem within society its self. People should be where they are because they are good at what they do not because they are male or female or their race. I don't wanna see diversity i wanna see good content

                I agree.

Equal opportunity is what's important. Equal representation, that so many in society seem to be calling for, is just discriminatory. People should be chosen on competence, and everyone should have equal opportunity to prove their competence. Enforcing equal representation is unfair on those who deserve to be in those positions but don't fill the quotas. Equal opportunity should be the aim.

Holly, however, fully deserves this in my view. Her logical and stats-based approach is something that resonates with me. The more emotive pods like FML FPL don't do it for me, I prefer the logic of pods like FPL Wire, and as it seems now, Holly's.

Fair enough, i get that absolutely. Depends what you want from the pod. I prefer a bit of entertainment myself and FML give me that..

Like i say i can't comment either way on Holly but i do think anyone who says they don't like her probably gets jumped on a bit more. She is a woman and we must like her because of that. Sadly it is happening in this world now

you have been quite personal over the years though (playing the man, not the ball) but you now know how to push the ‘bad content’ buttons to get your digs in without attracting too much flack on here. Those that have been on here a few years probably see through that though.

I don’t watch other podcasts and don’t often watch this one, but I quite like the relaxed chat style, quite chilled out and like a few friends having bit of a natter ... fine by me.

Your comments are fine though and reasoned, so no issue with them from me 🙂

After yesterday’s performance I am seriously considering getting rid of my Chelsea assets (Werner & Havertz).

Werner was playing just too wide and probably not on pens - so does not worth the price tag (e.g. better options currently for those money).

With Havertz I don’t even know what is the situation. Anyone has an idea why he didn’t play even as substitute?

Yes, I have to get rid of Son so can’t afford -8. Almost convinced on Son & Werner out, but who to bring in for 20.5M in total.
I am leaning towards the usual 4 suspects:
        A) KDB
        B) Salah
        C) Jimmy
        D) Ings

    Here is a WC draft.

    Martinez, Mccarthy,
    Justing, Robertson, Saiss, Justin, Dunne/Mitchel
    Bruno, Mahrez, Mane, Barnes, Bissouma
    Bamford, Jiminez, DCL

    1.7m at the Bank

Do you think its too punty? Currently sits at ~3.5m.

    1. Riders of Yohan
      • 5 Years

Slightly different which is nice but feel like you’re picking sub par players in certain teams. For me Salah > mane, kdb > Mahrez, TAA> robbo etc.

If you wildcard you need long term picks rather than these ones that may be more shorter term rewards.

    2. diabydoesgallas
      • 10 Years

Honestly I’d just pick Salah and captain him every week. You’ll go up the ranks quickly enough. Some punts are probably needed, but you don’t want too many. Mahrez is a transfer out waiting to happen

Better to save an FT before IB. I also do not think that either of those options are worth the hit. And just see out Werner for another week before you transfer him out.

Wait so Thiago played against Chelsea, and a week later he's tested positive for COVID-19? This is going to be a disaster.

He will have been tested before the game though right? So he would have been negative at that time

you can test negative in the early stages of having the virus, that is why countries insist on 7 days quarantine after a negative test .... there could be a huge spread of the virus in those 2 teams 😉

That’s why they have all that frequent testing in place, it’s not a disaster, not any different than Diop playing Arsenal before he got COVID.

With the opposition you would only be close to them on the pitch. Own team mates is different, bigger risk

He would have been breathing pretty heavily and the opposition would have been taking big gulps of the aerosol particles he was churning out, especially at corners and close marking

2FT and 0.4 ITB. Should I just do one transfer? Maybe Davies to Lamptey or something? Or Son to Barnes? So I can have 2 FT again for IT? 🙂

    McCarthy

    Son | Salah | Havertz | KDB
    Werner | Mitrovic

    Martin | Bissouma | Walker-Peters | Davis

why not ? it’s better than your bench and you can always get him back - otherwise you will burn a transfer

Wait for pressers. If out for long then Son to Mahrez/Barnes would be ideal.

or else Werner to Jiminez is way to go,imo

For you this move definitely makes sense.

You still have two FTs for IB and replace an injured player. Son can come back in for whichever of Havertz or Mahrez looks worse.

        Keep Salah.

I think you should build the team around:

If you’re going safe you defo need Salah. Large percentage of people will be capping him every week, so any time he hauls you’d be in trouble otherwise.

I’m on a hit yeah it sucks I moved martial
But also have Son. I have three options
Adventurous, smart, and stupid(albeit this could work and smart could backfire)
      A) bissouma > Podence/ Neto(start) bench son and wait
      B) son > Mahrez
      C) start bissouma with no hit and bench Son

      Son-salah-kdb-Soucek-bissouma

Thought on this lot here? Looking at Werner and Mitro out for DCL and Jimmy for -4.

      1 FT 1.0 ITB

      McCarthy
      TAA Vinagre Justin

      Werner Martial Mitro

Will be costly if I hold though, Werner and Mitro will drop this week, if they blank they can drop another 0.2 during the break and DCL and Jimmy will be going up.

I know points over value but this could get ugly, could be a 1.0 swing here.
