FPL Gameweek 4: Analysis of the key underlying statistics

Our Big Numbers piece takes a look at the vast array of data available in our Premium Members’ Area and presents the eye-catching statistics that may be of interest.

Although we’re only three Gameweeks into 2020/21 and the sample pool is still small, some familiar patterns are emerging – from Mohamed Salah (£12.1m) being top of the shot count table to Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.0m) bossing the headed goal attempts column.

We’ve again run down the stand-out figures in every position for this article, as well as looking at the strengths and weaknesses of various teams to assess which Fantasy Premier League assets could shine in Gameweek 4.

So this season could be described as :

    "Never bench Lamptey"

    🙂

A guaranteed early transfer for me is when the word "hamstring" comes into the conversation.

Yeah - possibly - depends if it's a Grade 1 or Grade 2/3. If Grade 1 then 2-3 weeks is more than enough time.

A word of advice guys. Think twice on Everton assets, especially defenders. Great performance last night but Allan and Richarlison "serious" injuries I think.

I genuinely just saw him more as a poacher, which in essence he is, but to have goals like that in his locker, then he’s a must in my book....

I agree but so much came from Richarlison. My greatest worry is Allan who is the unsung hero that makes it possible for Everton to attack.

I am going Raz over KDB atm mate.
Need to find some form as having a Terrible start 😀
          Currently Leaning towards:

          Martinez Steer
          Taa Robbed Lamptey Ayling 4.0
          Salah Raz Trossard Klich 4.5
          Jimenez Ings DCL

            • 7 Years

I am contemplating on that too. Team looks good. Mine atm is:

            McCarthy/Martinez, 4.0
            TAA, Lamptey, Taylor, Justin, Mitchell
            KDB, Salah, Barnes, Zaha, 4.5
            DCL, Ings, Jimenez

            Undecided on few things:
            1) KDB or Sterling
            2) Zaha or Robbo
            3) McCarthy or Martinez

DCL is a revelation this season as a goal scorer, I didn’t watch the game last night but i guess he scored goals from inside the box again, one ot two touches ?

That and fixtures want to hold off DCL for the next two, Brighton have outplayed United and Chelsea so far and the derby at Goodison is always a 0-0. Defense will also be less resistant with Allan out this weekend.

Wondering what people think from a game and fantasy perspective, for LEE MCI.

I have Laporte benched, De Bruyne and Bamford starting.
(I have Shelvey starting, at home to BUR in lieu of Laporte, as I have enough DEFs.)

I'm seeing some have MCI as their captain, while after last week, I don't know if I could trust MCI, though if anyone is an exception, it's De Bruyne.
Laporte played 90 mid-week, so I'd be happy to start, but I'm not at this stage.

Am I over rating the MCI LEI game as evidence that MCI are below their par, and am I over rating LEE at home, and their goals in GW1&2?

    WC gtg?

Appreciate an thought. Only Q is whether try and work Robbo into the team too.

    McCarthy (Button)
TAA - Lamptey - Castagne (Taylor - Ferguson)
Salah - KDB - Barnes - Klich (Soucek)
    Ings - Jimi - DCL

Has there ever been such a wildcard spree this early? This weird start of the season has made almost half of my main mini league spend their WC's already and that is making mine all the more valuable.

    1. n-doggg

      Agreed. Very bizarre

    2. Valar(Keith)

The weird part is there are sooooo many options this year. So not wildcarding is even easier since you have loads of options to choose from even if you miss a few. It was just lack of patience and a mix of fomo I'm assuming. Today's WC team is tmrws set of blankers and this will repeat all year long. Just need to buy and have patience and hold.

        This indeed.

    3. BERGKOP
      • 12 Years
      3 years, 5 months ago

Absolutely. I think the game has fundamentally changed without crowds, home advantage and maybe overall player fitness. This is why we're seeing more goals and penalties.

I reluctantly hit the button this week and I'm already feeling better about it. Definitely think you'll get the jump on a few in the event that something crazy happens this season with COVID.

    4. Tarby

Seems especially odd with the transfer window still open. I'd always felt after GW4 was the earliest point to start even considering using it!

I'm sure there will be some big transfers and they could have big impacts! Also been no serious injuries yet I can think of, I think is key to hold as long as possible in case of a few medium/ long term injuries in your team or even to other big players which could mean some cheaper assets become very valuable and you want to get them in.

I'd hold mate. I'm not sure it's great, but with Salah, KDB and Trent you almost certainly can't drop too far behind.
Zaha looking good, Martial will score goals I'm sure, Mitro is solid and surely Werner will get good? Although on the forwards I'd prefer DCL with Jimenez/ Ings instead of Martial and Werner as saves you about 2.5m and might even be more points, but do them when you have the transfer would be my move

What is the point of shipping out Son for 1 GW against ManU if he is back after int break with great fixtures? Will the price drop be vital? Bench can give 2 points next GW anyway for most of the Son owners.
