Saint-Maximin and Barnes return as Newcastle host Burnley

St James’ Park will play host to a number of returning mid-priced assets on Saturday evening.

After missing the trip to Spurs with an ankle problem, Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.4m) is back in the Newcastle side for Gameweek 4.

He sits on the flanks of midfield as Steve Bruce looks to match Burnley’s formation with a 4-4-2 of his own.

The only Newcastle asset coming into this weekend with more Fantasy support is Callum Wilson (£6.4m), who still has the backing of 10% of managers.

The former Bournemouth man is Newcastle’s top scorer thus far, having netted twice, once from the penalty spot.

Sean Dyche is probably the more relieved of the two managers at Newcastle tonight as he welcomes back both James Tarkowski (£5.4m) and Ashley Barnes (£6.0m) to his starting line-up.

The centre-back pushes Jimmy Dunne (£4.0m) to the bench, as he features alongside Kevin Long (£4.5m), while Chris Wood (£6.5m) and Barnes are paired up-front for the first time this season.

Newcastle United XI (4-4-2): Darlow; Lewis, Schär, Fernández, Krafth; Hendrick, Shelvey, Hayden, Saint-Maximin; C Wilson, Joelinton.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; C Taylor, Tarkowski, K Long, Bardsley; McNeil, Westwood, D Stephens, Brownhill; A Barnes, Wood.

This 4m ranked team needs an overhaul. Thinking KDB, James and Foden to Sterling, J Rod and a 5.0 or less def for a -8 is worth it? Alternatively KDB, Foden and James to Sterling Jorginho and Robertson.

    Martínez
    Alexander-Arnold - James - Saïss
Foden - Podence - De Bruyne - Salah
    Calvert-Lewin - Ings - Jiménez
    (Button - Mitchell - Lamptey - Anguissa)

you have a more than decent team

Only missing Hamez and not needed next week. Just point chasing with those moves

Id target next weeks potential players

      E.g Kane Barnes etc

Don't really fancy Kane as an asset with these cheaper strikers delivering. Barnes is a potential move, on the other hand.

Its a short term move. Try to predict. Longterm I like other strikers than Kane, for one week captain its different

I may do it myself (sell Sterling)next week to try and get the top10k as he has the best captain type match

I don't know. Had so many bad experiences captaining Kane. He's the type of player to blank when you're certain he'll going to do great. Can't afford him either unless doing Foden > 5.6 or less mid.

Well, I feel I got nothing to lose by the move at this point. Strangely enough, KDB isn't that much owned in the mini leagues I'm in either, so a goal from Sterling (like tonight), and a KDB blank, is really hurting my chances.

You need to make at least two of those three moves. Shipping KDB is not essential. Pep just has to remember that he's his best player and not Kante.

KDB playing that deep is a waste of space, IMO. Not an essential move, but when you have other options it's tempting to just chase a potential upside.

I should have stick to a home captain like DCL who I had in mind last weekend. You easily get influenced by the community who were saying City were bound to react, etc. But KDB is the league’s best player so hardly anything wrong in captaining him.

So happy I didn’t jump too early on the WC after one week of City. Going early is madness - you simply don’t have enough data.

KDB is clearly the best player in the league. But I’d never give him the armband. So spending 11.5 just isn’t on the cards IMO.

Where are the best sites for price rise/fall info?

In years gone by Totalfpl and Fiso were always pretty accurate. They seem to have stopped over the last couple of years.

I played my wildcard this week and was trying to use the FPLStatistics as my guide. However I found it pretty unreliable when players reached over 100% in rises or falls, with changes often not happening at all.

Is there a more accurate site?

    Much appreciated

I think the problem with fplstatistics is that it can't differentiate between normal transfers and ones on a wildcard (which don't affect price rises) so it's always quite volatile at the start, with more people playing their wildcards, and settles down as the season goes on.

Genuine question: is Pep the biggest myth in football history.

At Barca he has a number of the greatest players in history all at the peak.

At Bayern he arguably took them backwards. Remembers the won UCL the year before he came and got nowhere with Pep in charge.

At City he took over a top team but are they really that much better? He’s never got anywhere in UCL and despite spending £400m on defenders alone (that’s not a misprint) they are stil prone to getting turned over by bang average teams.

He’s clearly a great coach - maybe the best ever. But manager? I’m really not so sure - for the money he’s spent and they players he’s managed I’d argue he’s underperformed if you take his career as a whole.
