Son recovers from injury as Doherty and Davies drop to bench for United v Spurs

Son Heung-min (£9.0m) is fit to feature in Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Manchester United this afternoon, having made a swift recovery from a hamstring injury.

Having initially ruled the Korean out until after the October international break, Jose Mourinho appeared to be slowly backpedalling on that initial prognosis during the week and Son indeed makes the starting XI this afternoon.

Kick-off in the penultimate match of Gameweek 4 is at 16:30 BST.

Son may have been passed fit but Mourinho has otherwise rung the changes from the Gameweek 3 draw against Newcastle United, no doubt in response to the Lilywhites’ brutal schedule that has seen them play cup matches on both Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Full-backs Matt Doherty (£5.9m) and Ben Davies (£4.9m) drop to the bench, while Giovani Lo Celso (£6.9m) isn’t risked after sustaining a knock in the 7-2 win over Maccabi Haifa.

Midfielders Lucas Moura (£6.9m) and Harry Winks (£5.5m) are also among the substitutes, having started all three Premier League games before today.

Dele Alli (£7.6m) makes the 18-man squad but again doesn’t feature from the start.

Serge Aurier (£5.2m), Sergio Reguilon (£5.5m), Moussa Sissoko (£4.8m), Tanguy Ndombele (£5.9m) and Erik Lamela (£5.9m) are the players who come into Spurs’ side at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United team news is a lot more straightforward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made one alteration to his side from Gameweek 3, with Eric Bailly (£5.0m) replacing Victor Lindelof (£4.9m) at centre-half.

Almost 1.4 million FPL managers sold Son ahead of the Gameweek 4 deadline, with no other Fantasy asset suffering as many transfers out as the South Korea international in a single Gameweek so far this season.

Anthony Martial (£8.9m) was also out of favour, with his 303,342 sales making him the second-most sold FPL forward of this weekend.

Bruno Fernandes (£10.5m) is the only Manchester United player who has a double-digit ownership in FPL at the time of writing, with three Spurs players – Doherty, Son and Harry Kane (£10.5m) – featuring in more than 10% of Fantasy squads.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Aurier, Dier, Sanchez, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Lamela, Son, Kane.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial.

Played WC in the hope of regaining interest and thought Son was out.

So took out Son (18 & counting) ASM (12) & Wilson (16). Safe to say interest has gone.

Martial deserved his red but Lamela should have walked too.

VAR refs are cowards. Elbow a player in the face? Nothing. An eyelash offside? Can't be having that.

it's a 50/50. Martial had a clear intention to hit Lamela in the face, you can't prove that Lamela intended to elbow Martial in the face as he wasn't looking at him.

So? Bissouma didn't mean to boot Lewis in the face but he still got sent off for being reckless.

that's a completely different rule. That is a sending off for excessive force.

Martial was sent off for obvious violent conduct, even if it was just a little slap. Those are the rules nowadays, I don't agree with them but you just can't raise your hands to opponent's faces nowadays.

Do not agree at all. We have seen many blind elbows from in front result in red depending on where contact landed.

          • 9 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

and you've also seem them not given as a red. Lee Dixon cited the Mane yellow for his elbow against Tierney last week, same as Lamela.

But with Martial its different, there was clear and obvious intent to commit violent conduct.

    5. thegaffer82

      Martial was stupid.

But not sure how VAR don’t draw the ref’s attention to the Lamela elbow.

I think two reds or two yellows (refs discretion) would have been fair

Seriously, Son has probably had his two best games that he will have all season already.

Saints were woeful in DF. And now Utd are playing like school children.

I’ll be bringing Son back for sure. But, I know in my heart I’ve missed Son’s two biggest hauls.

He will still be a good pick of course and will still score well. But 20 point hauls will be few and far between going forward 🙁

How anybody had that frontline is beyond me. Martial didn’t even play in the first Gameweek. Moved from a midfield option to striker at a premium price. So you accept a 9m player on the. Each in week 1??? Bonkers

Ok, Fair enough, but still, I don’t see how there’re has even been a time to bring him in so far considering united’s lack of preseason and poor play when we have seen them. As for Werner.... absolutely no track record. No evidence at all that he was worth holding.... just bad bad picks

GW1 Son in side as one of my favourite Premiership players - looks trash as do Spurs & blanks - 2pts.

GW2 Son > Bruno with 1.5 i saved purposely in bank - Bruno blanks & Son score 4 goals!!

GW3 WILDCARD as have multiple injuries and a suspension, bring Son back in, scores 1pt as gets injured and off half-time, likely out for today at very least?

GW4 Son > Mahrez as playing ultra leeky Leeds and a pretty much gtd starter? Mahrez blanks another 2pt'er...Son vs Man Utd 2 goals & 1 assist by half-time and still 45' to play vs extremely shoddy looking 10 man Utd!!

    GW5?? Can't wait?!!

He didnt look trash to be fair week 1.

Was the most advanced option for spurs, but they agreed looked poor and had lots of midweek games

Leeds also dont have a leaky defence, they have the data for one of the best in the league.

Yesterday against city - zero big chances. Will get lots of clean sheets this year.

Ok so Son looked just about 'ok' GW1 but Spurs looked trash vs Everton at home?...and plan was always that if Son blanks GW1 then it's Son > Bruno for GW2 anyway hence why i saved 1.5ITB...and yes with such a crazy run of fixtures to take into consideration Spurs options did look even worse?

Leeds' championship data won't stand up in the Premiership by any stretch of the imagination and City should of scored more yesterday with non-existent midfield 2nd half? To be fair they have already conceded 7 in 4 games so to me that's 'pretty leaky'? Son then looks most likely to be out for today and you'd take Mahrez vs Leeds over Son vs Utd any day of the week no?

Can't the PL depart from UEFA rules so that "raised arms" aren't a s/o unless they are violent?

One rule I would like to see changed is if player has to go off to get treatment the other team player involved in the tackle has to join him until ref lets them come back

It should not be automatic for a player to go off if he needs treatment
