Introducing FFS International

Fantasy Football Scout is committed to celebrating Fantasy Premier League enthusiasts from across the globe.

Fantasy Football has become a truly global passion in recent years, which has created a beautifully diverse readership on our site.

We now have a genuinely international following, as regular visitors from 234 different countries have formed a part of the circa 4.7 million visitors to the site over the last 12 months.

From Australia, Brazil and Croatia to the Western Sahara, Yemen and Zambia, it is clear there are Fantasy managers fretting ahead of each Gameweek regardless of their geographical setting.

And with that in mind, we have set up a new initiative to reflect, celebrate and better serve this international audience.

FFS International is a new branch of the Scout Network dedicated to featuring the best content creators from around the world.

There is Fantasy advice, insight and entertainment going out all over the planet, tailored to their local communities, languages and timezones and we want to help play a part in connect creators with their audiences.

To find the existing channels check out the detailed map below.

But remember, we really are just getting started on this initiative, so if you are interested in shining a light on the Fantasy fanatics in your region please do get in touch USING THIS FORM.

The content produced by FFScout is read in over 234 countries around the world from Norway to America, Nigeria to Malaysia and Tonga to Belize. The Scout Network is already helping us to highlight fantastic content from Palestine, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Greece and Ireland, alongside the Scout Academy which contains content creators from America, Ireland as well as the UK.

The quality of the content internationally is one of the great pulls of the FPL community and hopefully that will only increase with the development of the Arabic language section of the Fantasy Football Scout website

As announced last week, this allows Arabic speakers to read an introduction to Fantasy Football Scout, our ‘How to play FPL’ article and, every Gameweek, they will be able to read our Scout Squad article in their native tongue.

There will be many further Arabic language articles over the coming weeks and months, including translations of the FFS International articles.

The comments feature is now active on Arabic articles and there are plans in place to launch Arabic language community articles in the near future.

FPL Greece

FPL Greece are a founding member of the FFS International branch of the Scout Network. Here is an introduction to their FPL content.

FPL Greece started as a group of friends with common beliefs and life goals. United by our irrational love for Fantasy Premier League, and how much it has damaged us in 10 years of playing, we decided to share our experiences with the wider Greek FPL community in 2018.

Our mission statement was clear and precise: Somehow find a way to win this game and spread the love for Matt “The true Lord” Doherty.

Long-time lurkers of the early days of Fantasy Football Scout, we were among those who patiently waited every week for Mark and Granville’s Scoutcast and spent Saturday’s chatting to other users during games in the world’s first ever global FPL community.

Years went by and our love for the game has only grown. FPL is part of our lives and so is Fantasy Football Scout, so we are delighted to be a member of the FFS International branch of the Scout Network.

Our Team

Christos and Babis have consistently played and failed to win the game since 2008.

Between us, we share seven top 10k finishes, six of which were in the top 5k.

Some of our best finishes in the group include a place in the top 200 for Christos, 1,326 for Babis while Dimitris has come 2,694.

Our Broadcasts

In 2018 we started creating YouTube podcasts in Greek, hoping to connect the Greek Fantasy community which, at the time, was in an embryonic stage.

Over the last two years, we have appeared as guests in the biggest sports radio in Greece to talk about FPL and had the chance to make videos about the Premier League with some of the most popular football journalists.

These days, we stream primarily on Twitch at least twice a week (Monday and Friday at 11pm local time).

The Community

If there’s one thing we are proud of, it is our community of Greek-speaking FPL managers. As the game becomes more and more popular in our country, the FPL Greece Discord server experiences exponential growth.

We scheduled our first meet-up for the last game of the 2019/20 season, although we had to postpone it because of COVID-19.

If things return to normal soon enough, we hope to have one of these later in 2020/21.

Our Competitions

Our mini-league is the biggest in Greece with over 2,000 teams as of Gameweek 4.

We hold ‘Manager of the Month’ competitions with custom made trophies for our patrons.

Another popular competition is the annual FPL Greece Cup.

We had over 1,800 participants last season and we, unlike the official FPL site, actually paused it during the COVID-19 outbreak, calculating all scores properly without having to rely on a virtual coin toss.

We also offer many other gifts and trophies to those who enter our competitions or win them such as original team jerseys or even tickets to football games (two tickets to watch last year’s game between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge).

Our ambition

We are optimistic that this year at least one member of our community will finish within the top 50 of FPL, or even WIN IT.

Oh, and we will continue searching for a good excuse to always have Matt Doherty in our teams.

Lessons Learned from FPL Gameweek 4

i feel my team looks ok other than 2-3 obv issues but this season is just so random. Should I wildcard?

    McCarthy (4.0)
    TAA VVD Casta Davies* Mitchell*
    KDB Hames Biossouma Romeu Podence
    Kane Werner* Jimmy

    WC team could look like:
    Martinez (4.0)
    Lamtey Chilwell Dallas Ferg Saiss
    Bissouma Fernandes Son Hames KDB/Salah
    DCL Vardy Bamford

You need pool DEF if WC not sure about Bamford either when you can get Brewster and then have both KDB and Salah

No WC. Downgrade Werner to Maupay or Antonio and upgrade mid to bring in Son

I fancies City strong this year but with so many city players out they will lose to much ground before they are all back. Think it could be any of 4 or 5 teams this year.

City can't defend and rely too much on an injury-prone Aguero. All teams look shaky at the back right now but City have no scope to improve. They'll do well to finish in the top 4.

You think City have a good defence? That if Aguero misses games that the likes of Sterling, Foden, Jesus will score the pressure goals required? No leaders, no defenders, Pep never replaced Kompany, David Silva and no one near the quality ofFernandinho or Aguero to replace them. Where's the sustainable quality in that squad outside Ederson and De Bruyne?

Replied on this ''They'll do well to finish in the top 4.''

No one has good defense now,in few GWs they will be ok.

They are system based team, they won league without KDB.

The recency bias here is astounding.

City are still the best side in the league, or at the very least they and Liverpool are a million miles clear of third.

Would you have laughed at that 2 weeks ago? Given points currently on the board it’s close, but I’d expect united to win more points than Everton from now to the end of the season

No but I now have 2 more weeks of data. We are now better informed about transfers and form. Everton have had one of the best windows and are on a great run of form, United have had a shite window and their form looks even worse

Just saw a Ben Crellin tweet where he mentioned how he benched Son this GW which to me seems very surprising given who he is. AFAIK players rarely get cameo's when they had a recent injury - they aren't short of match fitness so either they start because their injury is OK or they don't play at all. Am I mistaken in this belief?

I think it depends somewhat on the manager and the player. For example, Lampard did give Pulisic a cameo as expected. It would be interesting to see the data on how various managers handle the situation.

Although it's usually the right thing to do when you have a premium asset, starting a player who is flagged in FPL goes against many FPL managers' instincts, especially the more risk-averse they are. Not surprised that you found a top manager who did bench Son.

          1. F_Ivanovic
            • 8 Years
            3 years, 5 months ago

But Pulisic was out for some time and was lacking fitness - cameo's make sense when a player is lacking match fitness but that wasn't the case for Son as he got injured the prior GW.

You are completely right. It's common sense not to bench son and no one who is a good FPL manager would ever do it

Thanks mate, only concern would be an extra transfer down the line and with Ferguson he may not be fit now but later down the line could be a starter, PVA-Oooh could he? That could be definitely worth a flutter if he does I have some fond memories of owning him!! Cheers mate!!

Hey buddy, how’s it going? Unless you are intending to play any of these defenders (which I assume not), I would go for Ferguson. I’m expecting that PVA will be returning shortly after the international break as based on the media reports, he’s very close to full recovery, which jeopardises Mitchell’s chances going forward.

Can you please respond to my post below. I’m really confused what to do with my team.

Finally, what’s your current rank mate? Mine is around 900k but its still early stages of course.

By the way, Crystal Palace don’t play a wing back system so I doubt that Mitchell and PVA will play simultaneously.

Hello mate!!! I would play Mitchell for the Brighton game then after that would be just fodder, and so thinking long term Ferguson would be the better option as I think he may become a regular starter. Decent rank mate!! Early days still, I had a nightmare last week and probably deserved to be punished but there was substance to my thinking, brace yourself for this..... -8..... In- KDB(C), Jiménez and Ings.... Out- Salah, Martial and Callum Wilson!!! 30 point swing, 43 if I would have captained Salah, I didn’t fancy Liverpool at Villa, with Salah not getting to many points away I went for KDB for Villa and Everton away, the Mané gets Covid-19 and Salah always does better without him, and Last week KDB would have had that penalty claim against Leeds but the rule was adapted midweek so he didn’t, I’m 397K,those 30 points would have put me 45k haha, gutting mate!!!

Haha it certainly can mate!!!! Annoying that it’s international break tho so I’ve got 2 weeks to suck on it!!!! Haha, hay-ho it’s how it goes sometimes!! Like you say plenty of time to recover mate!!

I have two free transfers so feel a little spoilt for choice on what to do. I have a rough idea as I know that my team needs to change from 4-4-2 to 3-4-3 as the defenders are currently useless. We could have played Ferguson, Braithwaite and Kilman last week who would have outscored VvD, Robbo and TAA!! Haha!! So I’m tinkering a lot with my team to find one that is optimal for the upcoming game weeks..

        Antonio’s fixtures still rough

        Watkins looks streaky

But jokes aside he's not a bad option for 6m player. People have probably inflated expectations because of how the season unfolded so far with such high scores. I think he still is a decent option.

Thanks mate. I’m 0.1m short with Antonio and Salah in.

I think B or C are the best options -probably B as it allows me to upgrade my fourth defender to a 4.4m one. Otherwise I’m going to be relying on Mitchell and Ferguson if Saiss doesn’t play for example.

Plus Antonio’s fixtures aren’t great in the short term period and he could get injured once the fixtures improve.

Is there a such thing as good or bad fixtures these days though?

That’s sensible then mate if you go for B!! With someone like Antonio I don’t think there’s a good or bad fixture he can score against anyone in my opinion, he’s a beast mate!! I will get him when their fixtures improve I’m sure

Aston Villa are looking sharp and have a lot of creativity in the attacking third. Might watch some clips on YouTube to analyse Watkins recent performances to double confirm the decision. Haha!

It doesn't need a WC imo, just a tidy up in the defense. But if you dislike this many players then go for it?

Also, assuming you had the players from start, you've also probably felt the brunt of price drops so may as well stick it out unless they're due another one on fplstats.

Let's talk defenders. Who to bring in on a WC?

Let me name some of the main contenders:

Robertson - very attacking, on set pieces, but worrisome that Alisson is out

Chilwell - attacking, on set pieces but could change with Reece and Ziyech back. Chelsea has been posting good defensive numbers and finally a new GK

Lamptey - wingback, looks very exciting every time he goes forward. The minus is Brighton are conceding a lot, and he has gone off injured a couple of times...

Reguillon - wingback (maybe), but looks to often for the pass sideways IMO. spurs got amazing fixtures short term. could he be a rotation risk with all the games?

Saiss - threat on set-pieces. wolves have a good pedigree of keeping CS, but with so many changes in their team, they do not look as settled. not 100% nailed

Semedo - wingback, good dribbler with the ball. plays for a wolves team that rely upon their wingbacks to bomb forward. wolves struggling offensively though and yet to see the sharp end product from him

castagne - offensive back. hasn't show these insane amount of returns previously though. leicester conceding a lot

dallas/ayling - leeds full backs in very advanced positions. been conceding a lot of goals thus far. could be gold if they can start keeping things tight at the back from time to time

masuaku - playing OOP for a very nice west ham - team. probably not nailed though

bellerin - decent fullback for a much-improved arsenal-side. could only see them get better with the addition of partey

pva - could he be playing LW with Mitchell nailing down the LB-spot. could also be on pens. nothing for certain here though

    mitchell/ferguson - which 4.0 - palace defender to pick?

Time to play a wildcard after the break?

    McCarthy
    TAA Saiss Davies
    Salah KDB Bruno Podence
    Ings DCL Mitro

    Steer, KWP, Ferguson, Bissouma

Would like to get rid of Davies, Ferguson, and Mitro 100%, also unsure on Ings, Podence, KWP etc.

Got rid of Son last week (who I think is a season keeper if fit) which sucks but it looks as though I need at least one of him/Kane. Also keen on the likes of JRod, Grealish and Wilson as long term options
