Five players to consider for the Sky Sports Fantasy Football Overhaul

The Sky Sports Fantasy Football Overhaul is here, meaning unlimited transfers can be made until Saturday 17 October without eating into your allocation of 40 for the season.

For some, their team may be set in stone and ready for domestic football’s return, but for others, crucial decisions are still to be made and Fantasy Football watchlists are to be narrowed down before the next deadline.

Make unlimited changes to your Sky Sports Fantasy Football team here

We’ve picked out five players who could make your starting XI below.

Harry Kane (£11.7m)

Why FPL Managers Should Focus on Premium Forwards in 2020/21

The statistics do the talking with Harry Kane. With three goals and six assists to his name, the England captain has already hit the half-century mark in terms of Fantasy Football points after just four matches. Kane leads the way with 50, the most in the game.

A hefty 40 of these came against Southampton and Manchester United alone, with the Tottenham Hotspur talisman now finding himself in 60.2% of the top 1,000 Fantasy Football teams ahead of the Overhaul period.

Kane said himself after the Manchester United result that the ability to drop deeper has always been a part of his game, so this could be seen more often in the coming weeks. Assists, as well as goals, could become synonymous with the addition of Kane into your Fantasy XI: the England striker is ranked fifth among Premier League players for key passes in 2020/21 and top for big chances created.

The most promising aspect coming out of the Overhaul is quite simply Spurs’ fixtures. Jose Mourinho’s side face West Ham, Brighton, Burnley and West Brom in their next four, which presents an opportunity for Kane to extend his gap at the top of the points chart.

Jack Grealish (£8.5m)

 1

You could have taken your pick of players from Aston Villa’s drubbing of champions Liverpool last weekend but Jack Grealish is the one who will bring you consistent averages, week on week. He was Villa’s highest point scorer in Fantasy Football last year and you should expect that stat to stay the same this term.

The English international posted an incredible 25 points against Liverpool, thanks to his two goals and three assists. This was after he scored against Fulham the week before and he had gone mightily close to doing likewise against Sheffield United, so again he is proving it on a consistent basis.

Grealish’s ownership figure (23.13%) makes him the fourth-most selected midfielder in the game, and for good reason. With fixtures against Leeds United, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United featuring in Villa’s next six and plenty of appealing matches beyond that point, Dean Smith’s side could build on their 100% start – and Grealish will be well placed to capitalise with more Fantasy points.

Karl Darlow (£6.2m)

The Newcastle shot-stopper’s man-of-the-match performance against Tottenham Hotspur was the highlight of the season so far from a goalkeeping perspective in Sky Fantasy. If there was a threshold for tier three save bonus points, Karl Darlow would have reached it, but earning a point for Steve Bruce’s side away at Tottenham will have done just fine.

Aside from this, Newcastle’s clean sheet on the opening day at West Ham landed Darlow with another eight points.

Despite his lowly price of £6.2m (only Illan Meslier (£6.1m) costs less among playing goalkeepers), Darlow is ranked second for points among Premier League custodians and he could be a potential bargain buy following the international break.

Although Newcastle face Manchester United, Wolves and Everton in their next three, you would still expect Darlow to register bonus points alongside a potential shock clean sheet.

The obvious caveat is that Martin Dubravka (£6.7m) isn’t expected to be sidelined for too long – but Darlow’s form is such (he has the best save percentage in the division) that the Slovakian may have a fight on his hands to reclaim his place.

James Rodriguez (£8.9m)

Much has been said about James Rodriguez since his arrival at Goodison Park, particularly within these Fantasy Football articles. The last time Rodriguez was mentioned, he had a goal and an assist to his name – fast forward the clock and the Colombian has now netted three goals and set up another two, collecting a pair of man-of-the-match awards in the process.

Rodriguez is the most-selected midfielder aside from big hitters Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes, with 24.55% of Fantasy Football teams recruiting him thus far.

A Merseyside derby awaits Rodriguez next, so he will have to be at his very best after the long trip back from South America to keep his ownership percentage so high. Southampton and Newcastle follow, so there is as good a case as any to bring in and keep the silky midfielder in your team for weeks to come.

Ruben Dias (£9.1m)

You will not transfer in a better player, for the price of £9.1m, than Ruben Dias of Manchester City. Although there has been an abundance of shocks, goals and penalties so far this campaign, many forget that Ederson walked away with the Golden Glove in 2019/20, so there is no doubt that Manchester City will keep clean sheets again this year.

The signing of Dias from Benfica for £65m will bolster the sometimes frail defence of the Citizens, as Pep Guardiola identified the Portuguese international to be the final piece of the puzzle. Partnering Aymeric Laporte against Leeds, Dias looked composed and eager to impress on his debut.

As well as clean sheet potential, the possibility of attacking returns from set plays and likely passing bonus points furthers his appeal.

Dias twice got his head to the ball from corner-kicks at Elland Road and was unfortunate not to see one of those efforts nestle in the back of the net.

To leave you with one bit of general advice: your Overhaul team should be planned with the long-term fixture schedule in mind, with a couple of differentials and cheap picks thrown in to make all the difference in your mini-leagues.

The point of this forum is for people on here, who class themselves as experts, to tell people like you which players to get, and then abnegate any responsibility when the players you get on their recommendations fail to deliver any meaningful FPL points.

I've gone back to Wilson ... had him first 3 weeks, sold last week (with Son) and now bought them both back on WC

If he doesn't blank he gets good points - I've just looked at the top scores in each team for each position (G/D/M/F)

      NEW - 19 / 11 / 20 / 34 (Wilson)
      WHU - 15 / 24 / 27 / 18 (Antonio)
      LEI - 12 / 28 / 20 (Barnes) / 34
      CRY - 15 / 12 / 26 (Zaha) / 11

      Cheers for the replies!

Zaha always scores against Brighton, but is such a frustrating player to own. Barnes is hit or miss, with a high ceiling.
Antonio would be the best option for sure without those next 3.
Wilson in form and on penalties...Maybe I'll just flip a coin between Barnes and Wilson, then get Antonio in GW8...

It's not going to happen but could a player go up 400k in one week, if they originally drop 100K at the start - e.g. Ollie Watkins

Started the gw at 6.0 so could go up to 6.3 .. but he dropped to 5.9 at the start so can he still go up to 6.3 or only 6.2

    1. Holmes

The rules as I know it is that a player cannot rise or fall more than 0.3M in a gw ... so that would mean 6.3M, even if it means 4 rises

The rule could be that a player cannot change price more than three times in a Gameweek, so that would mean 6.1m.
Or it might not - we won't know till something happens to confirm or disprove it.

On a WC I would drop Mitchell, only matter of time before he's benched. Van Aanholt is back in training.

3 Spurs, double Everton attack and no City - not for me. Could work very well short term, but on a WC you should think more long term aswell IMO

Yeah, I know, but who else to go for? Kilman?

Spurs and Everton are the in form-sides though, so hard to look past them. Aguero could come in for Kane, or De Bruyne and Antonio for Grealish/Hamex and Kane if City start scoring again.

Or would you do these moves from the get go?

It could hurt you but I would drop J.Rod. Considering the fixtures one Everton is enough for me, and DCL seems to deliver both home and away. And J.Rod will be jet-lagged after coming back late from Colombia.
KDB could score big next 3. They looked absolutely world-beaters in that first half vs Wolves and could have scored 4 or 5 in the first 20 minutes vs Leeds. They will come good, as they always do.
Kane is the in-form player, and I can understand why people are picking him. But do you really need more then one Spurs attacker? Crazy away games against Soton and Man Utd sure. But at home they were awful against Everton and dire against Newcastle. Who do you trust more with the captaincy? KDB or Kane? And there are so many good striker options this season for much less money.

I've gone with 3 4,5 defenders, Saiss(placeholder for TAA after GW8) and Robbo.
Reguillon looks like a great signing, and I've considered him. But Mourinho will rotate his full-backs, said so before the United game. Could be a frustrating 5,5 to get benched. If you go with your defence I would just put Ferguson in there. The only 4,0 defender that will play, when (and if) he gets fit

Point taken. Still, that is 180 minutes of football with no Kane goal. For 10.6 I would like to captain the player. Will I captain him over Salah and KDB/Sterling? If not, there will be better value elsewhere

so one blank against the (as it turns out) league leaders and a virtuoso performance from the keeper away from a hattrick makes him uncaptainable? He's on pens for a start and very good at them

Did I say he was uncaptainable? Just can't see me captaining him over Salah and KDB/Sterling many times this season. Would rather captain Son to be honest. Been burnt too many times with Kane and "easy" home games. How many double digit hauls did he have last season? He's not the Kane of old. Point is, if you have Salah, City and Son you're better of spreading the cash imo.

    Martinez I Steer
    TAA I Castagne I Saiss I Lamptey I Mitchell

    DCL I Ings I Jimenez

    1) Ings & Barnes -> Watkins & Son(C) -4

Have been loving the ups and downs of FPL so far this season but am seriously considering playing my WC now. What are the thoughts on my current team?

    Ryan (McCarthy.)
    Lamptey*, Coady, C.Taylor (Mitchell, Lascelles*.)
    Sterling*, Bruno, Grealish, Mane* (Jorginho.)
    C.Wilson, DCL, Ings.

    Do I need to WC?

    Sorry for asking again

can't decide which 2 of richarlison, james and grealish to pick on WC.
    currnet team:

    Guaita
    TAA Reguilon Chilwell Dias 3.9
    Salah KDB Son --- ---
    Watkins Brewster ----

got about 20.0 for these 3 spots.
    playing 4 at the back
    had james since 7.5
had planned to get richarlison and james but grealish looks essential.
and if I pick james + grealish I should play 451 and team will lose flexiblity.
    any suggestions is welcomed.

yes, that's what I mean. At 4,5 you have quite a lot of options, but the one I have gone for at 4,7 is Lamptey to be my squad player who can come in and play in pretty much any fixture when needed.

As far as benching headaches go I see that as a strength. There will be times when one of your guys have a tight hamstring, is suspended, or just look a little out of form at the minute. Then you can play your "bench guys". I have made room for both Lamptey and Soucek as extra outfield players.

He is not back for quite some time though, is he? Could be worth it though as will not be needed right now to play.

Mitchell has been good, so could see him continue to get game times, maybe with PVA in a more advanced role potentially?

Kilman was also good last time out, could he eat into Saiss' minutes?

Roy is definitely trying 4-4-2 this year. PVA will come back in at LB. Schlupp and Eze on the left, Andros/Possible new in RW. Then Zaha Bats (who scored for Belgium again) and Ayew, who I think is looking for the bench spot soon. McCarthy went off injured. (not that he is good FF wise but sure helps the defence out as long as Sakho isn't playing. Dann will play i think. Brighton V Palace is rarely a draw.(Probably cursed it now)

There is no way PVA will play LW.

With Ferguson (I made this mistake) he could be back in full training next week. He has been in training for a long time but since his knee injury was around Christmas last year, they are taking things very slowly as they see him as a very special player and the last thing they want to do. Clyne has been training since pre-season but likely to go to Bordeaux as a free agent which seems like good new as he was going to use as back up until Jan if Ferguson was far behind

I hit the button, couldn't look at my team any longer. Team value is poor.

    Martinez, 4m
    Robertson, Chilwell, Saiss, Ayling, Mitchell
    Salah, Son, Pulisic, Rodriguez
    Kane, DCL, Maupay

Need to cut 1.3m from this team. Which is the best option?

    A) Pulisic to Grealish (much prefer Puli)
    B) Robertson to Reguilon
    C) Rodriguez to Barkley
    D) Downgrade Kane, don't need double Spurs

Probably a little premature, but what is the bench situation alright here?

    Guaita
    TAA / James / Lamptey
    Salah / Son / Barnes / Guaita
    Kane / DCL / Brewster

    Forster // Foden / Saiss / Mitchell

I'll monitor Sheffield United, but if there's a fixture to play Brewster in, its Fulham.

James (SOU) may start vdue to Sevilla/ Man United straight after - but Saiss/Mitchell can sub in if not. Would you put Saiss (LEE) ahead of him?

Currently have Podence stating and Foden benched. Swap? Or bench Brewster?

Can't see how you play Brewster, as optimistic as it may sound, he hasn't played a minute yet for SHU. It's not like he will hurt you much if he does play

Stick with Foden and James, doubt the the latter comes in for a cameo, but with Azpi lurking it will be tough for him to keep his spot, he's great going forward but has clear deficiencies on the defensive end where Azpi excels

Cheers. Brewster is a bit of a punt in all honesty. Spent far too long monitoring the 200+ page on the Sheffield United forums with people excited to sign him, lol.

I disagree James wouldn't come on for a cameo. It looks like he was close to coming on last match. Then again, Azpi will have had two weeks off so you might think he'll last fine. Chilwell may even miss out if he's ill, so that's another thing I'm monitoring.

I'll consider Foden over Brewster, for sure. Not been impressed by Phil, and Arsenal is not an easy fixture these days - but at least he's also had the International Break off

this is my advice to all WCers. just see city vs leeds highlights. kdb is a must! don't be deceived by Kane.
obviously it may go the opposite way.
    that's only my opinion anyway

KDB is very far from a must. He's arguably not even the best city asset

The PL have revised the kick-off times for GW5 to GW7, none of the fixtures for those GW will now be concurrent.

Who cares? £15 a game ppv is a disgrace when we already paying high subs. They won't get another penny of my money, I'd rather have Jeff and the boys at 3pm 😡

Did they rearrange the fixts to accommodate the ppv?

Also, I've a sky sub, so would we have got the sky sports games for our paid for subs, but now they're charging extra for them?

Yikes, I thought it was sky giving us the chance to watch the odd 3pm game that wouldn't be televised otherwise.

So they've taken a few fixtures away form the regular sky sub viewers would have otherwise got for their subs?

No. All the games that were due to be televised by Sky and BT will still be free to subscribers. All the games that were not scheduled to be televised will be available on ppv

It matters to those of us who play Sky Sports Fantasy Football where you select captains daily rather than weekly.

The 15 quid is a red herring it's the moving of the game that sucks coz it's paving the way to showing all prem games like this thus screwing those of us who go to games even more. If they'd have kept the 3pm's and charged £15 to watch one I'd be fine with it

I'd be happy with that. Keep the games at 3pm with Jeff and the boys and let anyone who wants to pay £15 for a game do so

That's what I thought it was, or at least something similar with a cup game that wouldn't usually be televised, for e.g.

Bad form Sky taking games away from the paying punters to charge more for a single one. Outrageous

WC's activated pre-transfers don't count and skew the numbers

Intl break is popular time for Wc's and it's a common issue that prices never change much due to people activating the wc's before the transfers
