Scoutcast Episode 348 – Spurs and Chelsea players gather support

Joe and Az are joined by Andy for this week’s Scoutcast as they look ahead to Gameweek 5.

Tottenham Hotspur assets are in fine scoring form and about to head into a strong run of fixtures, so it is no wonder that the community questions in this latest Scoutcast are focused on Jose Mourinho’s men. Are Son Heung-min (£9.1m) and Harry Kane (£10.6m) players we should be definitely bringing in? And are both feasible without disrupting the balance of Fantasy Premier League managers’ squads? These questions and more about Spurs are considered by our trio.

The best of Chelsea has arguably not been seen yet this campaign. But with Christian Pulisic (£8.3m) and Hakim Ziyech (£7.9m) set to return from injury and Southampton up next, the community is pondering the merits of early investment in the Blues.

Meanwhile, the current international break has already produced a number of scares, from positive COVID-19 tests to injuries. Amid the pandemic, the Scoutcasters consider whether FPL managers need to alter the way they play, to cope with late sudden withdrawals due to the illness that has shocked the world.

Joe also attempts to make amends with his disastrous Dele Alli (£7.6m) differential pick in Gameweek 1. Can his latest low-owned gem succeed?

There is news of Fantasy Football Scout’s UEFA Champions League coverage, the next four fixtures are frisked and our trio reveal their transfer and captaincy plans.

I would like to gamble a bit with my WC. How do you rate this one?

    Martinez - Steer
    PVA-Semedo-Lamptey-KWP-Mitchell
    Salah-KDB-Son-Bale-Grealish
    DCL-Maupay-Brewster

    Thanks.

Not sure you want to WC in players that might not play GW5, bit of a risk on 2 or 3 there.

Looks good and structure wise it's not high risk: if LIV def needed it's -4 hit away, if MUN woke up Rash is a transfer away, if Aguero is needed it's -4 hit away ...

    On WC, would you prefer

    A) Richarlison 343 (Bissouma)
    B) Maddison 352 (Brewster)

A would be a double up with dcl

I wouldnt. Reg will not start all the games with EL and PL games ahead. Castagne provides great attacking threat so far. Except if you get enough bench cover.

Pick the best defensive combo on a WC:

    A) Robbo + Castagne + Chilwell + Ayling
    B) Robbo + Chilwell + Saiss + Lamptey
    C) TAA+ Saiss + Chilwell + Lamptey

    Martinez / Button

    Robbo / Chilwell / KWP / Dallas / Ferguson

    Son / Salah / Grealish / Hames / Bissouma

    Kane / DCL / Maupay

    Semedo--Lamptey --James--Mitchell--Dunne
    Salah--KDB--Mahrez--Foden--Burke
    Ings--DCL--Jimi

    1.2 itb and 1 FT
Really wanted to save. Want to replace James and Foden but really don't know which way to go (cheap defence or premium). So may be better to save as I feel it will be better next GW as I am not sure about who to transfer in.

You have a free transfer and money itb. Mitchell - Dunne is the obvious problem imo. You can upgrade Mitchell for a better defender. If you want to save and plan a double transfer next week, thats totally fine, team should be ok for this week

      1. OverTinker

Mitchel and Dunne can be dealt later. I have to first solve starting eleven issues but since I am not sure about the replacements so I guess saving would be better

People look to the Villa game and forgot the Chelsea / Arsenal games where they had improved control for long peroids

And Thiago is back now. With Klopp having proved himself in the past 8 years as a manage who can adapt and correct systems.

No Liverpool defence shouldn't be a problem as long as Adrian's playing. Fantastic front 7/8 btw.

Liverpool defence xGc last year with Adrian was no different than with Allison

eye test can be wrong at times

Was covered on fpl blackbox last week podcast.

Mitchel probably loses viability with PVA return but I'm not convinced Pulisic is viable yet in view of Lamps' managing his minutes comments. I'd expect him to play but certainly nowhere near 90 minutes - 60ish or 30ish.

Brighton look a far more attractive attacking force than Toon so prefer Maupay to Wilson.

Can't imagine James (Chelsea) comes in at the weekend. Any reason to start him? I have Mitchell, who will likely be benched, and Alzate, who will likely get 2-3 points. Thinking I'll just play Alzate.

If Chilwell is out, Azpi moves to left back and James plays

Cheers, will take the risk of a potential 1-pointer then. Good think with James is Azpi will most likely never be subbed.

I still think Alonso could fill in...as did some Chelsea page I was reading

Why not - CL mid week. Chilwell has a foot injury.

      There’s a chance - I’m fielding him

That’s my thinking too. Do we think Azpi is first choice for Champions League due to being the superior defender?

I see Liverpool with Thiago back, Mane, Henderson back, Possibly Matip playing laying down a statement at the weekend. Similar type of focus to Leicester away last year. Klopp will always adapt his systems and the villa result will focus his mind to be less crazy with the high line.

Im benching both my everton players. I see something like 2-0 to Liverpool at least, Despite Everton attacking stats their defence is still leaking goals

    Mesiler
    Saiss Ayling Robbo taa Justin
    Sterling Salah(c) Son
    Antonio Brewster
    4m Hamez DCL, Bissouma

Everton are improving but will do very well to finish top 8 still. Liverpool are still Liverpool despite one freak result with 3 random deflections and many poor performance where Thiago ,Mane and Henderson were out.

With Adrian in goal I don’t see a CS - can’t remove the fear he creates in the mind of those in front of him!

Someone therefore needs to score - DCL

Look at Marks (from here) podcast last week

With Adrian in goal last year Liverpool were still top 2 in the league last year for xGc

Yet they only kept 2 CS

Same issue with Everton and Pickford

I find it more crazy one game versus Villa people are rating better than 3 years of excellent Liverpool performances

I see a Pool win but not a cs especially without Alisson. Carlo is no mug - I definitely see a top 8 with them and Wolves fighting for 7th.

I certainly think Everton are more like to score than Leeds or Wolves are to keep a cs.

Planning to go for Watkins from Villa instead of Grealish cause I can't afford transferring a player with Rodriguez's quality out of team...

3 days rest before the West Ham game so should be fine.

However, Rashford, Maguire, James, Mount, Walker, Pickford will only have 2 days rest.

Lampard and Pep have alternatives, but I can't imagine Ole is happy.

          Yep.

And as a consequence, Ziyech too imo. I think James will be important in attacking the wing when Ziyech cuts inside. I'm not convinced Azipil is as effective in that attacking role.

So if anyone is looking for a one week punt CHO looks a good option. Looks to be set for the wide RW role again with the more defensive Azpi behind him.

I think Ziyech and James will come in for GW6+ imo.
