Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Gameweek 6?

It feels like 2017/18 all over again when it comes to Fantasy Premier League captaincy decisions right now.

It was back in the good-old days where we were faced with a choice between Mohamed Salah (£12.3m) and Harry Kane (£10.8m) ahead of a new Gameweek – and yet here we are in 2020, with the two sides impressing themselves on the latest debate for the armband.

The Captain Sensible article is back once again to help you pick the right option for the armband, using key underlying statistics for player form and the defences of their upcoming opponents.

As this uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

Captain Poll

Mohamed Salah (£12.3m) is leading this week’s Captain Poll as he is backed by half of our voters, specifically 48.5% The in-form Liverpool midfielder is facing Sheffield United in Gameweek 6, who are yet to win a Premier League game this season, with four defeats and one draw.

Meanwhile, nobody has recorded as many goal involvements in the opening five matches of the season as Harry Kane (£10.8m), who already has five goals, seven assists and 60 points.

The Tottenham striker also faces an out-of-form team on Monday, as Burnley are still looking for their first league victory of the season (three defeats, one draw).

Kane currently sits second in the Captain Poll, with nearly 20.0% of our users backing the Englishman.

Behind Kane, his counterpart Son Heung-min (£9.4m, 6.5% of votes), Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish (£7.2m, 5.0%) and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling (£11.6m, 3.0% of votes) remain as the outside picks this week.

Once again, using some underlying data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area and combining the poll results, current form and analysis of the opposition, we are going to try to pick the best captain for Gameweek 6.

Really need some advice on this guys. What to do about Rodriguez?

    McCarthy
    TAA Robbo Lewis
    Rodriguez Salah Son Podence
    Maupay Mitrovic Jimenez

    Steer Taylor Burke Ferguson

    1Ft 4.2m ITB

    A) bench him and play Taylor/ Burke and hope for a point or two and bank a transfer.

    B) Ferguson > Kilman and play him v Newcastle. I was happy to be patient and wait till he's fit but no news on him for a while.

    C) Burke > Grealish/Barkley. Then downgrade Podence back to a 4.5m mid later to free up cash.

    D) any other suggestions?

Do you think there is an off chance he will play? I was intending to get Grealish/Barkley anyway for villas run so I'm currently leaning towards option C.

On WC and unsure to ship James to Pulisic or not.

Not to worries about losing ££ as it’s only going to be .2

Leaning towards keeping with a bench of Targett Brewster and Kilman.

    Thoughts?

with good service and low expectations (regarding the price) u can leave him there up to Xmas.

It's a bad price point - at the start of the season the only viable forwards over 6.5 and less than 8.5 were DCL and Richarlison ... there's also Tammy and Giroud but that's it

Yeah. Should I just go A here then? Wanted Kane but too many injuries and non starters now. 3.3itb

        A. Davies >> Robbo (4-4-2)
        B. Davis >> Maupay (3-4-3)

        McCarthy
        TAA, Mitchell, Saiss
        Pulisic, Salah, Rodríguez**, Son,
        DCL, Ings

i find my defence in a bit of a shambles with only one current likely starter for next game week in Justin.
my defence is Van Dijk / Justin / Dunne/ James/ Mitchell
    0.4 in the bank
what would you guys do, take a hit and make 2 transfers. can i get some expert advice please
I was thinking Van Dijk to Robertson and James to Konsa / Lamptey. Robertson in great form and AV have great fixtures and I'm happy to double up with Martinez.

    1. ZimZalabim

Both moves sound good and just hope Mitchell keeps his place for one more week. If u can ship Dunne for Konsa that would be better but I guess u dont have the funds for that

    2. Ze_Austin
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 5 months ago

Prioritize those with no chance of playing: VVD and Dunne

I'd suggest Digne and Kilman. Save funds for James to Chilwell next GW

Address Mitchell and Justin later. One becomes a Villa defender/Lamptey, the other becomes Cresswell

      1. Robman
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

thanks for the advice guys. is it worth a hit for two transfers or take the risk re either James (unlikely) or Mitchell (possible) playing.
i don't have enough funds to ship Dunne for Konsa.
is Kilman nailed? i thought he was a bit of a risk given rotation options?
i like the overall strategy for focusing on the defence over the next weeks because my midfield and strikers are all pretty solid.

Any idea on Dier? Cannot Google any news, not in squad today. Would not like to spend a -4 on him especially since Spurs have three good fixtures.

My defence line is a doubt with Taa, Kwp, Dier,* Justin* and Mitchell*. Leicester also played best XI and Justin was on bench If I could count on Mitchell starting then -4 would not be an option but that is also a minor doubt.

    A) Dier > Saiss -4
    B) count on getting 3 defs from TAA + Mitchell + KWP (or Dier)
