Reguilón benched as Gameweek 6 continues to hurt FPL managers

The latest unfortunate turn of events in Gameweek 6 of Fantasy Premier League is a Monday-night benching for Sergio Reguilón (£5.6m).

Over 120,000 Fantasy managers picked up Spurs’ left-back for Gameweek 6, inspired by his role in the 6-1 win at Old Trafford and the 3-3- draw with West Ham.

However, Jose Mourinho had other plans, selecting Ben Davies (£4.8m) on the left-hand side of his back-four at Burnley.

Serge Aurier (£5.2m) has suffered the same treatment, replaced at right-back by Matt Doherty (£5.8m).

Thankfully, the rest of the Spurs team lines up mostly as we expected with the heavily backed pairing of Harry Kane (£10.9m) and Son Heung-min (£9.5m) selected at centre-forward and left-wing respectively.

All eyes will be on the right-hand side of Burnley’s defence tonight as Matt Lowton (£4.4m) comes in for his first start of the season.

His preparation for this match has not been ideal as he only recently returned to training from a knee injury, forced into action against Spurs with Phil Bardsley (£4.5m) and Gameweek 5 stand-in Erik Pieters (£4.4m) missing out.

Ben Mee (£4.9m) remains absent so Kevin Long (£4.5m) is James Tarkowski‘s (£5.4m) centre-back partner once again as Charlie Taylor (£4.5m) continues his extended run as the first-choice left-back.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; C Taylor, Tarkowski, K Long, Lowton; McNeil, Brownhill, Westwood, Gudmundsson; Wood, A Barnes.

Tottenham Hotspur XI (4-2-3-1): Lloris; B Davies, Dier, Alderweireld, Doherty; Højbjerg, Sissoko; Son, Ndombele, Moura; Kane.

43 with Kane to play, I feel like I'm king of the world, but man that CS gubbing at the end... grim. Should have ended up around 52 I think.

The question is now, whether each Kane goal will give me a green arrow, or a red one... lots of armbands.

I agree on what you're saying but as far as rank (green/red arrows) for the current week, that's the correct thing to look at.

If you want to compare yourself to the current top10k because you want to eventually catch them, then just look at the top10k EO. Not sure serious managers matter more than the current top10k..

Yeah, 89% Raga, so points it is... but still... would love to be gaining on the 10K all the same. I've an 11 point lead on the FFS H2H match, I've Kane, and he has Kane (C) - in which case, goal, nothing else... should be fine.

If LiveFPL had a way to filter out 'serious managers', in other words those managers who are likely to be top 100k at the end of the season, I'm fairly sure Kane has over 100% eo in that sample. I'm hoping for a blank despite 'my rank eo' being less than 100

    1. Gandalf
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 13 Years

Yup think that's a sensible way of looking at it. Most will have both Kane and Salah, so by not captaining Kane then makes sense to want him to blank

I can’t disagree with the maths but this is everything that is wrong with FPL: hoping one of your players doesn’t score you points.

Once I start cheering for one of my 11 starters to blank is that day I should stop playing FPL

      1. Brosstan

Only captaincy can save me this week. 16 from 9 with (K)ane and Son

(K)ane go score 100 goals tonight.
Imagine those autosubbing a Burnley defender in for Reguilón just to have a -48 added 😉 !

    3. Ragabolly
      • 14 Years

You can look at the top10k EO if that's your ultimate target to catch, you need to displace those in there now. They matter more than "serious managers" tbh given how big the gap between many seasoned managers and top10k

      1. Brosstan
        • 9 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

Im sure there's a large amount of players in the top 10k who have used all chips etc who won't be anywhere near top 100k at the end of the season. that's why I said hypothetical serious managers instead.

        1. Ragabolly
          • 14 Years

Not that many, look here https://www.livefpl.net/figs

Chip usage in top10k is similar to overall and not extreme. In fact 82% of top10k managers have used no more than one chip so far!!

I think now is time to grab a pint. I have Son and Kane, but Salah was my captain. If they score my rank goes up. If they fail top10 is not getting further away. Whatever happens, it is neutral. Or even better. If they score I celebrate my points, if they fail I'm happy since current top 10k isn't running away!

      Have same dilemma with Ramsdale.

Only thing stopping me so far is that no other keepers are really getting shut outs.

Martinez, McCarthy or Guaita really for me. But I may WC during the next IB, so if I do there’s no point wasting one of my 2FT on a keeper.

Not a position I expected to be in but did KDB to Bale (pissed) in GW5 and couldn’t afford to miss Kane this week.
