Scoutcast Episode 351 – Ben Crabtree chats about life after winning FPL

Fantasy Premier League managers are used to having to seize opportunities when they arise in the game. The same applies for this week’s Scoutcast when Joe and FPL Family’s Sam don’t let the chance to quiz a former champion pass by.

The pair are joined by 2016/17 winner Ben Crabtree to look ahead to Gameweek 8 and find out what it is like to win a game that more seven million people play each season.

They find out what exactly happens when an FPL manager becomes champion and how it impacts on their life. Would Ben put the achievement on his CV? Which Premier League star did he meet when he claimed his VIP trip to see his team Everton? How does he stay motivated to continue playing? These and many more questions are answered during the show.

Meanwhile, Joe, Ben and Sam, who is filling in for the holidaying Az, also look ahead to Gameweek 8’s tough decisions. Will this be the last moment in the sun for Tottenham Hotspur assets, before their tricky fixture run starts?

While the games get harder for Spurs, the Season Ticker looks far better for West Ham United and Chelsea. Our Scoutcast trio assess which players to target from these other London sides.

Elsewhere, there are all the usual features as they look back on their Gameweek 7, reveal their transfer and captaincy plans and frisk the next four fixtures.

After Karam finally picked a differential that scored the Scoutcast points last time out, Ben takes his turn this week to select a low-owned gem. Has the tide finally turned for our selections? Given Ben’s exceptional pedigree in the game, we certainly hope so.

Hate it when my players do well in CL games. Rarely does it transfer over into PL games.

It is like a tank of petrol. You can only use it once. They used up all the good stuff in CL games and there is nothing left for the PL.

    D) Bamford

      I'm in the same boat.
Can afford anyone but Kane....was leaning Werner before the game today. Pens was good, but playing 90min makes me wonder if he'll be rested this week.
Vardy may become the answer...still 50/50

Vardy from gw10 for sure. In the meantime it really depends on what you do with the extra cash. I'm going Wilson to afford Son -> De Bruyne in gw10

Thanks both, heard some rumours about Werner being rested but not substantiated of course.

go coufal over zouma - will provide better value over the next 6-8 weeks
chelsea fixtures after the next 2 don't warrant a double defence
also don't like bissouma brewster bench but I guess fine for now

Appreciate any thoughts on this below?

    McCarthy Nyland
    TAA Justin Mitchell Taylor Davies
    Salah Son Zaha Podence Bissouma
    Werner DCL Jimi

    2FT 1.7ITB

A: Davies Jimi > Chilwell Wilson
This allows me to do either Son>KDB or Podence>Grealish in GW9

B: Davies > Chilwell (Roll FT)
If I do the same moves with Jimi>Wilson in GW9 to fund KDB or Grealish. Will miss the price rise on Wilson and will miss Wilson vs Southampton this GW which is a nicer fixture. For this reason I'm thinking A could be the better option.

I am open to any other suggestions of what to do here.

2 freebies so would appreciate some help (team linked)

    a) Saiss to Coufal for free (also coufal vs creswell and why?)
    b) Saiss to Coufal / Jimenez to Werner for free
any other suggestions - Foden is frustrating but not a priority move and can bench him for Soucek this week

waiting on Antonio news but feel Werner will return some decent points with Pulisic/Havertz missing

I would do Saiss to Coufal personally mate and save the cash, I would have done that move this week if Ings wasn’t ruled out, Jimenez to Werner looks nice too, minor concern about a possible benching this weekend would nag on my mind a little but surely he will start especially after Frank has just said he is now first choice penalty taker!!
