Why I am Wildcarding for FPL Gameweek 9 and the key players I am signing

My Fantasy Premier League Wildcard is now active and in this article I will be going through the list of players and teams I am targeting.

With eight Gameweeks now gone, I feel I have enough data to make an informed decision.

As I am using this so extensively, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access it in full.

    From GW 12 on:
cry liv LEI wol - Kane
BHA EVE tot MUN - Vardy
eve wol WHU ars - Werner
    Firmino is a no go
MCY shu LEE lei WOL - Martial
BUR SOU eve CHE - Laca
Ings won't be back in time
AVL CHE bur TOT mun - Jimenez
CHE lei ARS shu MCY - DCL Richarlison

Meanwhile bamford has WHU NEW mun BUR wba
Watkins has wol BUR wba CRY
Wilson if fit has WBA lee FUL mcy

City and Pool are the two big hitting, pricy sides with good fixtures over the second half of December. Pool don't have an attractive forward option and many will have 3 city already or might be wary of Aguero and Jesus splitting time or facing rotation. I can envision strike forces of three cheapies or two cheapies and brewster on the bench to make room for the likes of 3 of Sterling, KdB, Salah, and Mane

Cheers. Many will keep DCL cause of the value tied to him
You left out Antonio who if fit is a great option

Absolutely right, Antonio could be one to keep through January

I think your right on the two cheapies and Brewster, but I think people are starting to put a bit more money in defence with Chillwell and Cancelo which doesn't really allow for 3 of those 11.5 mil+ big hitters in midfield.

I have Cancelo and Robbo and this is what i'm thinking about for GW 12:

        McCarthy (Steer)
        Robertson Cancelo Dallas (KWP Ferguson)
        Salah KdB Sterling Ziyech Bowen
        Bamford Adams (Brewster)

I think it's possible even with people opting to spend a bit heavier in defense it may just turn out to be a matter of one's preference

Oh yeah, it's possible, I considered the City double up in midfield but not sure on Sterling and think there is better value elsewhere. Robertson Chillwell Cancelo is a power back 3 I'm going with and seems to be slowly growing in popularity on here.

GW10 I'll be probably looking like:

          Martinez
          Robbo Chillwell Cancelo
          Salah KDB Ziyech Grealish Jrod
          DCL Bamford

4.0 Lamptey Coufal Brewster 1.2 ITB

Almost all of that squad are locks, will have some fun with the Jrod slot - Mahrez, Jota etc.

Let me remind as well that at the end of this run is GW 16 which is also the wildcard deadline so if you aren't comfortable with 3 cheap forwards long term and you've held you WC until then, you can re-evaluate then right in time for Kane to have FUL LEE avl shu

The thing about fodders is that you don’t change them until you WC... which will likely be after gw30 for me

maybe, but certainly not now though. If you are worried avoid Neco but he could be a very good short term enabler.

Chillwell, 5.5, 4.5, 4.5, 3.9 may give you a great rotation option with your 4th & 5th mid too if you want more big hitters ... I would not worry about the issue with upgrading fodder because it is easy to upgrade 3.9 to a 5.5 as part of any reshuffle of formation.

Is it too much reliant on United to have both Rashford & Bruno for their next two GWs : WBA, sou ?

I already have Rashford and looking for way to bring Bruno in. Choices between replacing Son or upgrading Rashford.

    Salah - Son - Rashford - Grealish - Zaha
    Kane - DCL (Brewster)

    Salah

Same I have Rashford but thinking Bruno might be the better choice.
Was thinking Rash > Bruno or Son > Bruno?

      I have Kane also.

Double United for WBA looked juicy before they kept Spurs shut for 88 minutes and Rashford got injured.

Keeping both Kane & Son doesn't look fit with their coming difficult fixtures too.

What move next stands out here?
    1. Son -> Fernandes and possibly captain.
    2. Jimenez -> Watkins/Bamford/Richarlison(punt).
    3. Podence -> Grealish.

    McCarthy.
    Cancelo, Chilwell, Mitchell.
    Son, Salah, Barkley, Podence.
    Kane, DCL, Jimenez.
    Button, Ayling, Justin, Bissouma.
1ft, 3.8m ITB. WC in hand.

I would hold Robbo over Cancelo or find a way to get both. It might be tight, Cancelo will rise 0.1, Son will fall at least 0.1 but there's outside chance of KDB dropping 0.1 too.

I've set my mind on shipping Robbo out, Liverpools defence has too many injuries so I don't see many clean sheets. There's always a chance of getting attacking returns but I think there's more value in cheaper players.

I haven't looked at stats yet, but I feel Roobo has more defensive duty without VVD in the side. That might affect attacking game too.

Horrible form may just be around the corner, relying on late winners against Brighton, West Brom and Burnley isn't a good look. Not sure more space on the counter compensates for playing a better defense.

I’m keeping Kane (because when fit he can put up points against anyone), but Mourinho will set up for the one-goal win against the top teams.

i feel even if mourinho sets up that way, it helps son have space for the counter as it will draw the other team's midfield further into spurs half as well. and kane has certainly shown he can deliver a quality through ball assist to son

I'd sell one. Preferably Son. Their fixtures aren't great and Spurs have gone on to being more conservative in the last 3 games. You'd expect the trend to continue in the next games as well.

    1) Jim > DCL

Interesting, I can have this team by GW10:

    Martinez
Cancelo - Chilwell - James (Lamptey, Dunne)
KDB - Sterling - Mane - Rodriguez (Bissouma)
    DCL - Antonio - Watkins

Putting the faith in a team that has looked lackluster so far but has incredible fixtures and a fit striker returning, risky. Could be that Bruno proves better than Sterling.

I'd be more concerned about doubling up with two defenders subject to rotation (Cancelo, James). I'm going with Cancelo too, I don't expect much rotation but it's not inconceivable that you find yourself with two at the back for a GW or two. I feel you need two nailed defender subs if you're choosing that pair, but maybe I'm too cautious.

it's funny, not even a consideration for me
Prefer Salah or Grealish if I don't bring in United player

Bruno and Grealish VC for now but I'm gonna go with captain's poll probably. Haven't picked right captain yet even when I usually have him 🙁

Need 0.2m to upgrade Son to KdB in GW 10. Best option? These would be for a hit.

    A. Ryan to Forster (McCarthy will be my only keeper till I WC)
    B. KWP to Kilman
    C. Salah to Mane

      A

      A seems the least disruptive.

      A. For GW10, you might need 0.3 or 0.4 for KDB upgrade.

      Till end of season?

There's no way one can say. Ziyech plays in the best team so probably him

      1. Samir16
        • 3 Years

surely ziyech outscores over the long term but maybe next 8-9 week period could be grealish

        1. WE GO FOR IT
          • 8 Years

no doubt. Grealish could outscore till end of season as well. Chelsea's goals and assists would be distributed whereas Grealish is central to everything Villa does.

Grealish, top dog for an improved Villa. Xiyech looks very good but Chelsea have a few that'll impact his FPL returns. DCL a tight third for me because he can be prone to a famine after the feast.

    My team is
    McCarthy 4.0
    Robbo, James, Coufal, KWP, Konsa
    Salah, Son, Ziyech, Zaha, Soucek
    Kane,DCL, Watkins.
Not used any chips and doing really well for me, just over 100,000 position.
Was thinking of wildcarding after next round to get some Man City in, but instead for one hit over next two weeks could do:
Kane/Son/Robbo to KDB(or Sterling)/Jesus/Chilwell. Would need tidying up after - Zaha/ James esp.
    So what do you think?
Wildcard or triple transfer and save wildcard till GW16.
    Thanks

I think i have a similar team and transfer plan. taking a hit as well to bring in city and holding wildcard

I'd WC. Would let you tidy up James/Zaha and get Grealish in as well perhaps.

Also, I don't like the idea of losing both Son and Kane.

your defence is a benching head ache, I would just do Robbo to 4.5 and Son to Bruno Fernandes and look at a hit (or WC) to bring in City the week after

Yep thanks. Happy to have the benching headache as late injuries, COVID, warm-up injuries, means I like a squad without any fodder this season. Son to Fernandes and downgrading Robbo a good plan, tho, which I will consider

Can I get away with saving FT here to do a mini WC next week?

    Martinez
    Robbo Chilwell Konsa
    Salah (C) Sterling Son Jrod
    Dcl Maupay Bamford
    Steer Anguissa Kilman Mitchell

    1 FT 0.5 Itb

Out : Son Maupay Robbo Konsa
In : Grealish Vardy Cancelo 5m defender

Have yet to zero in on a plan but it's between Vardy & Bruno for me

If you're not sure, I'd save. Otherwise, I'd move Maupay this week along with someone else.

Yes having 2 FT for next week gives me a lot of flexibility.
            1. Could go 3-5-2 by moving Maupay to Brewster and reshaping midfield.
            2. Can fit in any combination of Bruno/Kdb/Vardy/Ziyech/Grealish/Antonio depending on form and injuries
            3. Can see how Spurs do in a big game Vs City ( Keeping Son could even be an option after all!)
