Kane, Fernandes or De Bruyne: Which premium FPL asset to own for Gameweek 9

Happy International Break everyone. Are you feeling glad that it’s here, with the opportunity to rest and recuperate from all the madness? Or are you longing for more football to sink your teeth into?

I feel as though Gameweeks 9 and 10 are crucial weeks in all of our seasons. Looking at the Season Ticker, there’s some huge swings in terms of difficulty, Manchester City soaring to the top with, debatably, the three best home games imaginable from both an attacking and defensive perspective.

Manchester United also emerge from a difficult run of games to host West Brom – before facing three out of four games away from home where they have, up until now at least, looked better than under the lights of Old Trafford.

Tottenham on the other hand sink to the bottom of the ticker, with Wolves also set to face three tough teams – and a local derby against in-form Villa to boot.

Lessons Learned from FPL Gameweek 8

It's just imposible to have KDB, Salah, Bruno and Kane without blowing the whole team up.

Best option here? Can make some downgrades to fit in Richa... would be a double up with DCL for the next 3 weeks

    A. Martinez + Lewis + Bamford
    B. McCarthy + 3.9 def + Richa

Out of interest, how many players do you still have from your GW1 squad, including all 15 players. As well as your rank.

    9/15 for me. 14k.

8/15 but it includes Werner who was sold and bought back.

No, I want to see if rank corresponds to people's teams remaining the same or not. I was actually 11/15 before yesterday, as I got rid of TAA and Mitro for Cancelo and DCL. So judging from the comments, rank does roughly correspond with turnover, lower rank less players.

Yet you wouldn't do that if you were 2m lol. But I understand that you're more excited about posting things like that when your season is going well, it's human. I was like that too in 18/19 when I had a top season. Fair enough.

          4/15, OR 1.4m.

1/15 - literally only Robertson if we're talking about who's been in every single GW. (and that has actually been the case since my WC in GW4)

Currently I have 3 players that I started with. I brought Wilson back in last week and Son left my team prior to that United game. But yeh - didn't start with Salah. Went with Ferguson over Mitchell and then rectified it on WC. Had 2 4.5gk's and switched to Martinez.

Current rank is just below 1m. I started really badly (no Salah) so changing my team has worked out!

If you are in a work league, and many are, you can then go on the company website and use the name to find the person's profile. You could also go on LinkedIn and do the same thing. Once you know where they work, study etc. you also know where they live. Really, it is very easy. This is why I don't link mine and why I don't use my real name on my FPL account.

I am tempted to stick with McCarthy as a season keeper as he has done me so well so far this season. However, as I am on a WC I am tempted by Martinez. Thoughts?

Think I may go Mccarthy on wc also to squeeze extra funds to afford some upgrades

      1. The Big Fella

I think I am staying with McCarthy too. Good fixtures and 0.3 cheaper. Next dilemma is Lampty vs Walker-Peters. Everybody loves the former but I have had the latter since the start and he has stayed at 4.5 and got more points.

        1. Pukki Blinders
          • 4 Years

Lampty easily for me. KWP does not even come close in an attacking sense. If you have Mccarthy it's another reason to go Lampty, wouldn't be keen on a double up

          1. The Big Fella
            • 7 Years

And yet, KWP has more points than Lampty this season despite the latter's attacking threat. Southampton's form is good too. If I could find 0.2m from somewhere, I could have both...........

KWP has 2 more points. Two... and even that's because Lamptey got injured at 57 in a game ending in a CS.

I have rotated McCarthy with Ryan and now Meslier ... 42 points & 5 clean sheets out of 8 for £9.0 keepers

I hate rotating keepers! I always pick the wrong captain every week so if I also then had to choose which keeper, my OR would be even worse. Besides, my TV is shite and I can't afford the extra 4.5m for another one.

You just need the right pair ... it’s quite easy then when one is playing Man U or Everton and the other WBA or Burnley 🙂

          Martinez is 4.8 so if you have a non playing 4.0 second keeper it’s 8.8 v 9.0,

Rotating McCarthy has given me an extra 9 points over starting just him.

If I could show you how to get an extra 9 points by spending .5 more on 4.0 non starter in a two player combination you would jump at it ... oh wait ... 😉

          good luck

So after 3 weeks of GW ranks of 6.5, 6.5 and 4.5 million I decided to WC.
    What ye think?
I have 4.4 ITB and already plan a hit on GW 10 for
    Ziyech and Bruno to
    Sterling and KDB
Rodriguez and DCL will go in GW12 probably for Ziyech and Bamford.

    Martinez

    Chilwell Cancelo Lamptey

    Salah Bruno Ziyech Rodriguez Jota

    DCL Watkins

    Macey Masuaku Brewster Casey

      Love it.

You're sure on Jota? 4-3-3 could force him out. Also your GW12 plan doesn't account for you having Ziyech already. Aside from that, very nice.

Ziyech out immediately in GW 10. And back in from GW12
This is all about hitting short to medium term fixtures.
So lots of City Villa Everton and Liverpool.
I think Jota is worth the risk and I might even try a 4.0 Liverpool defender over Masuaku if we get an idea who might start.

I'd get KdB for GW 10. City have an excellent record against Burnley, who have been awful this season.

Even though I have a 4 next to my name. This is my first year playing.
A)Can anyone tell me why do people prefer kdb over sterling when the former is a constant scorer and the 2nd one is explosive and in the next 10 I might need to captain a city asset many times. (Is sterling totally unpredictable?)

      1. tafrère
        • 7 Years

KDB is City talisman. On set-pieces, on pens, more bonus points in him. And his ceiling is as high as Sterling.

      2. WE GO FOR IT
        • 8 Years

KdB is central to everything City does. He will most likely be involved in everything good City does going forward. On penalties as well. Though that might change after last week's penalty miss

      3. Pukki Blinders
        • 4 Years
        3 years, 4 months ago

What did you do the other 4 years then?
Simple because Sterling is out of form and KDB is much more consistent, also playing a more advanced role

        1. tafrère
          • 7 Years

          DCL Kane

          Forster Saiss Brewster Ferguson

          2 FT, 0.0 itb

What to do with my 2FT?? Or maybe just use 1FT and roll the other one for now, possibly Saiss >> Lamptey / Coufal ??

I know Foden is an issue, but perhaps 1 more week and it gives me 2FT to play with for Citys GW10 >> onwards run...
