Jobs

Want to sign for Fantasy Football Scout?

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce two new job vacancies.

After a frantic but successful start to the season, we’re looking to grow the team once again, with new roles in both the editorial and technical departments.

Considering the world we live in right now, each role is a remote one, although, ideally, post-coronavirus, we would like to work together in person on occasion. Therefore, the ability to travel to London easily would be an advantage.

However, those that work outside of London should not be put off and should most definitely still apply. Talent is more important to us than postcode.

Editorial Content Support

We are looking for a new addition to the editorial team to work alongside David and Neale on our regular Fantasy Football Scout output. The role is part-time initially, but there is definitely with room to grow.

Time: 1-2 days per week (8-16 hours)

Main Duties Include:

  • Writing, editing and uploading specific articles
  • Covering midweek press conferences
  • Tweeting updates on FFS channel
  • Processing images for articles
  • Supporting the monitoring/update of injury and team news

Skillset Required:

  • Proven editorial experience at a professional level (writing/editing)
  • Interest in and knowledge of FPL and Premier League football generally
  • Flexible schedule

Full-stack developer

We are also looking to add to our growing technical team with another full-stack developer to provide support for existing systems and help with the development of new tools and services.

Time: Part time or full time (2-5 days per week)

Main Duties Include:

  • Supporting the existing site and tools
  • Developing new features

Skillset Required / Tools Used

Front-End:

  • HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • Sass
  • React
  • Query
  • Bootstrap
  • AJAX

Back-End:

  • API design and development
  • PHP
  • MySQLApache
  • WordPress
  • Ubuntu
  • Ansible

Experience

  • BSC Computer Science or related 2.1 min
  • Two years minimum commercial experience

If you want to get involved with the next chapter of the site, please drop us a line with your CV at jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

We would like to stress that it may take a little time to look through and respond to applications.

If i hit the WC now.. will be a mistake to do the team with no place for salah again ?

Yes. I think many WC teams that are going without Salah and no easy route back will be making a big mistake. But thats just my opinion

Lads, two questions if I may:

With Pereira about to be back, better to go with someone else instead of Justin on WC?

    Also, Watkins or Bamford?

    1. Fantasydreamer
      • 6 Years

Watkins i would say - and yes, wouldn’t be risking Justin

      I’d go with someone else.
Watkins if only for the fixtures.

I would pick someone else, lot of options at that range. I have bamford and keeping him in my WC. Mostly because I don't like the idea of Aston Villa triple up

So, grand total of my moves over this period for -8

    Jimi, foden, salah OUT
    Bamford, Bruno and greilish IN

    Hopefully it works out

      Looks grand, should work out.

      I'm considering something similar for a -8:
      Salah + Maupay + Robertson > Bruno + Vardy + Coufal.

      What do you think?

      1. Steve The Spud
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 4 Years
        3 years, 4 months ago

Quite like it but personally wouldn’t mind holding robbo as he’ll be on even more set pieces now so maybe salah + maupay to Bruno and bam/Watkins for -4

        1. King Kohli
          • 11 Years
          3 years, 4 months ago

Don't see Pool keeping a cs in the next 3 so looks like time to move him out.
Have Bamford and stuck with Martinez,Steer and Konsa so no route to Watkins or Grealish unfortunately.
Also Vardy looks a great pick from next gw and could get a return vs Liverpool as well.

    3. Karan14

I'm doing something similar Salah, Foden & Wilson to KDB, Grealish & Bamford

Seem like good moves, realistically you’re going to want to hold all those 3 long term and going out you’ve got 2 players injured and a 1 pointer risk - but what do I know

        1. Karan14
          • 7 Years
          3 years, 4 months ago

Yes that's my thinking behind it too. I could go Bruno/Rash but don't want them after this week and I'm not even sure about capping them this week.

Fair enough, I think Bruno has shown more form than kdb and is more of a main man for utd than kdb is for city right now

            1. Karan14
              • 7 Years

I agree with that. I'm a United fan and I'm having a hard time trusting them with the armband. We have a few knocks and niggles (Rash, Martial, Lindelof & Maguire) too and Telles will take some set pieces off Bruno too.
KDB is the chief creator for City and City have a fully fit squad now which makes a huge difference.

Good moves individually but not going to be worthwhile with a -8. Jimi arguably has a better fixture than bamford

I think over 6-8 weeks it will be worth it, but we’ll see - if I could go back to the start of the week I’d just do salah and foden tho and play jimi

However, if he blanks this weekend, with wolves ugly fixture run, I’d have to lose him in the near future anyway

Yep id have just stuck with Salah / Foden. Or even if you could have just done Foden > Grealish only. Jimi not good option long term but if you could have moved for free next weekend would have been nicer

I think sorting by expected mins per goal involvement for midfielders ain't working properly in the members' table. It seems to sort in batches. Sorts the first 20, then the next 20 etc. So position 21 is similar to position 1, not position 20. Fix please.

Dont see alot wrong with Dallas / Ayling - Leeds went 4 games including City and Wolves conceding only 2 goals and 2 clean sheets. They may also ship 4 goals but if they are a rotating 4.5 def then no problem, plus they are fairly attacking players

That's already too much in defense imo.

Neco Williams as a permanent fodder.

Am i being massively naive if i don't have any Liverpool players in my WC? The fixtures and Form of everyone I have picked feels and looks better.

Not really.. I was going to keep Salah only on mine, but with his situation I might do the same as you.

Just wondering how i'll get him back. I might try and keep a 1m or so in the bank just in case.

Not at all! I only have a 4.0 fodder among them.

Not this week, but FPL changes fast and in a couple GWs you may feel differently.. Tbh the only worry is when Salah is back. But im still keeping an eye on Trent and Robbo because they will come good

It does indeed. But having money held up in those Liverpool players in a battered team isn't favourable. I'm gonna risk it. I'm third in my ML and the only one not to press WC until now. Hoping to pick the best team for the next few weeks and reevaluate.

Liverpool xG after 8 games: 17.45 Only Spurs come close and their fixtures are awful.

Presumably the fixtures/form you are talking about concerns Chelsea (13.36 after 8), City (10.74 after 7), United (8.40 after 7) and Leicester (13.81 after 8). None of those come close to Liverpool in terms of attacking threat - not so far this season anyway.

At the same time, Liverpool have a decimated defence and must either retrench to a more defensive outlook (can you really see Klopp doing that?) or simply look to out-score their opponents. Personally I don't see their defensive woes making them any the less attacking, more like the converse.

So, you have the most potent attack in the PL in a situation where they need plenty of goals and you think other teams have better form and fixtures? Good luck with that, especially when Liverpool have upcoming games against Brighton and Fulham.

At the very least I'd put Jota in and have cash in reserve to upgrade Fernandes to Salah as soon as he is back (which is probably GW10).

Thanks for your detailed and informative points, albeit a tad condescending.

I was also looking at the form and fixture of AV and WH too.

I do believe Klopp and his wounded warriors will be hitting attack very hard against teams, who will no doubt hit them on the counter. So no Liverpool defense makes sense to me right now.

If I put Jota in, who was in my first WC draft, it gives me a benching headache. I also prefer Bruno to Salah as a player but that's just my opinion. Last season I won my ML with both. That would be ideal again.

I'll try and bring in Jota or similar for GW10 depending on Salah news.

Yeah, it had a bit too much bite, sorry.

Point is that Liverpool are a very good attacking team, arguably the best. And their current situation probably means more goals in their games, not less. So I can't see they don't have the form, nor are their fixtures at all bad.

Meanwhile, I don't see that you'd want to be without either Sterling or KDB from next week, City's fixtures are as good as they get. I wouldn't then want a 3rd 10m+ midfielder who I'd likely never captain - that's just bad value in my view.

So, personally I don't see much attraction in Fernandes after this week.

I fully agree with you about avoiding Liverpool defenders, of course.
