Zaha self-isolating as Eze and Taylor shrug off yellow flags for Burnley v Palace

Wilfried Zaha (£7.4m) has been omitted from Crystal Palace’s matchday sqaud as they travel to face Burnley in Gameweek 9.

Roy Hodgson revealed on Monday afternoon that the midfielder is self-isolating, although it was not yet confirmed that he was doing so because of his own positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test, or because of someone he was in contact with.

Michy Batshuayi (£5.8m) comes in for Zaha, starting up-front alongside Jordan Ayew (£5.7m) in a 4-4-2 formation.

There is slightly more encouraging news for Palace fans as Eberechi Eze (£5.8m) has overcome his muscle injury to start on the left-hand side of midfield.

Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m), who has the best minutes per shot of any Palace player since Gameweek 3, is at left-back once again, this time rooting Tyrick Mitchell (£4.1m) to the bench, who finally returns from his knock.

Charlie Taylor (£4.5m) has shrugged off his yellow flag to start at Turf Moor, the Burnley defender behind only Nick Pope (£5.4m) for points per million spent among his colleagues this season.

Jay Rodriguez (£5.8m) starts alongside Chris Wood (£6.2m) up-front for Sean Dyche’s men, relegating Ashley Barnes (£6.0m) to the bench.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; C Taylor, Mee, Tarkowski, Lowton; McNeil, Brownhill, Westwood, Gudmundsson; Rodriguez, Wood.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita; van Aanholt, Dann, Kouyate, Clyne; Eze, Riedewald, McArthur, Townsend; Ayew, Batshuayi.

    Martinez
    Robbo - Chilwell - Coufal
    Bruno (C) - Son - Grealish - Zaha
    Kane - DCL - Bamford
    (Forster) - (Dallas - Bissouma - Mitchell)
    4.0 ITB - 1 FT

    A) Zaha -> Jota
    B) Zaha -> Ziyech
    C) Zaha + Robbo -> Salah + Digne (-4)
    D) Zaha + Robbo -> Salah + 5.0 (saves money for Bruno -> KDB later)

    Cheers!

    Jimenez + Coady + Lamptey > Vardy + Dias + Lewis for -8 sounds good? Gives me -

    Martinez - Button
    Dias - KWP - Taylor - Lewis - Mitchell
    Salah - Bruno - Grealish - Ziyech - Bissouma
    Vardy - Martial - Richarlison

    Next gw - Martial + Richarlison > Aguero + Antonio

    Defense has horrible fixtures this to make me think of hits. Coady (ars), Lamptey (out), Taylor (mci), KWP (MUN), Mitchell (dropped)

    Thoughts? 🙂

      Guys I wonder your thinking;
      When you have a defender like Chilwell and his next 3-4 games are against your attackers, does it make sense to keep him and play him, or to consider removing him make any sense?
      Especially when you only enjoy watching matches to root for your players, I find that a bit annoying.

        Chilwell is a season keeper, your attackers will have to live with that

          I agree, I am just thinking if it makes any sense to remove him for a short period like 3-4 matches. Albeit that would cost me 0.2 for the moment

          One week is ok, you can't avoid it every week of course. But if your one player consistently playing vs your attackers it's different scenario.

        it's his attacking threat though.

        he would have tapped in that own goal on sat, he's always lurking at the back post, it's bizarre really.

      6. Vlekz
          3 years, 4 months ago

          Consider each player individually. You owning attackers against chilwell doesn't change his potential of getting a cs or attacking return.
          And I wouldn't sell chilwell or bench him for any fixture unless injured

            No it's all about enjoying the game for me. If I can't root for a player properly I will not be enjoying watching the games. That's why I always prefer wing backs to central defenders.

                  Doesn't matter if they're nailed for a CS. Probably still outscore Guaita over 2-3 week, for which you'd be holding on to him for an optimum time to sell anyway.

                    The fixture ticket also has Arsenal as top of the defensive fixtures in a few GWs time.

                    Think he could be a decent investment.

                    I may however save the cash and go for Martinez (DGW prep) or McCarthy (have Forster already.)

            B) Ziyech, KWP & Coufal
            C) Grealish, Zouma & KWP/Coufal
            D) Watkins, Zouma & Cancelo

            KWP/Coufal could be anyone up to 4.6M. Shame to go without Ziyech but thinking if Jota continues to get minutes then A seems the most balanced option and takes advantage of strong Liverpool and City fixtures. Will be alongside Salah, KDB, Fernandes & Son.

                    Yeah because I wanted money to upgrade Son/Rashford to KdB in one move.

                    If I got Jota, I wouldn't have enough money to do Rashford > KdB. The plan changed after Salah got COVID because I just moved early for KdB.

                    Worked out in the end I suppose.

              Really talented, that was some free-kick he scored against Leeds. Not sure he is consistent enough in the premier league yet so will be a mixed bag on FPL returns. If Palace do well he will get something and Newcastle and WBA next look good for them.

            Hopefully one day they change the game so we have bigger squad like 18, so we have more subs to rotate/choose from. So many managers with not 11 playing.

              The stick or twist option would be great for captain and bench after deadline to make the matches more interesting. But get that not everyone can be that active every week.

                Isn’t that the whole point of being a manager to pick the best 11 from the squad? I’ve left points on bench before .

            A) zaha to Jota
            B) zaha to Torres
            C) son to KDB zaha to Jota (4pt hit)
            D) son to KDB zaha to Tores (4pt hit)
            E) son and Zaha out Jota and Torres in (4pt hit), KDB comes next week for Rashford and give Rashford the Southampton game?

            As you see I am big fan on Torres, I trust he has the potential to be the best City player this year behind KDB maybe

                You may think Torres should start every game but does Pep?

                We can't know for sure.

                I think you should patiently monitor.

                  Patience will result in missing all the good fixtures.

                  I will probably not do it this week because the only way I can get Torres is Son > Torres -4 which is admittedly a little too crazy for me. But if he starts in CL/plays well and plays vs Burnley, he will be very hard to resist for FUL.

              Not so sure about selling Son.

              Would rather sell Rashford now for KDB/Torres & Zaha > whoever.

              Southampton aren't THAT much of a plum fixture & Rashford hasn't been good.

            Is Bamford and Antonio too cheap up top in a 3-5-2 with a big hitting midfield?

            Midfield would be:
