Scoutcast Episode 353 – Spurs and Man City top the form versus fixtures debate

With Az yellow flagged this week, the Scoutcast borrowed a couple of hosts from other podcasts and videos to help make sense of Gameweek 10.

Ted from Ted Talks FPL and FPL Surgery’s Josh kindly step in to join Joe to look at issues such as the familiar ‘fixtures versus form’ debate.

While Manchester City’s fixtures turn for their better, with a trip to Burnley, their form is less than enticing. Can easier encounters help them revive their fortunes?

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s rotten match-ups continue, with a visit to Chelsea. However, the strong form of Harry Kane (£11.0m) and Son Heung-min (£9.5m) makes them hard to ditch.

Our trio consider the pros and cons of switching the focus of their Fantasy Premier League teams from north London to Manchester.

Elsewhere, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota (£6.6m) is turning heads, with his strong attacking threat and kind price tag. His merits as the ‘next big thing’ among mid-price midfielders is assessed.

Rough with the Smooth is back, with another Scoutcast regular’s Wildcard given the once over. There’s a differential pick to consider too, with Josh attempting to pick a player that doesn’t befall the Scoutcast curse of being injured or dropped.

Gameweek 9 is reviewed, fixtures are frisked and Joe, Ted and Josh reveal their transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 10.

Don't fancy any City defenders. Tonight's lineup could see cancelo and dias rotated at weekend. Or not. Too risky in the mental month of December

    Whats better for a hit?

    A) 3.9 to Cancelo
    B) 2.9 to Dias
    C) JRod to Jota

I understand what you're saying however investing in defenders you want to be as sure as possible that they are nailed to avoid costly transfer down the line.
With Mendy back you cannot guarantee that Cancelo will keep his spot for the next 4 to 6 games, especially when Pep' management style is taken in account so I do understand why people are being cautios about bringing him in.

You'd think after 6-7 weeks of injury that Mendy would be eased back cautiously. Surely that means playing in midweek CL games where City have already qualified and will likely finish top too.

Yes, Cancelo having a rest today would be better for owners, but Walker probably higher priority for rests than Cancelo, hence Cancelo filled in at RB?

    Was planning on Cancelo.

But Mendy starting is little bit worrying. Cancelo did great on the lb position, but no matter how you look at it, Mendy was preferred at that position start of the season.

When he was injured, Zinchenko was as well, so maybe now the time is up for Cancelo. Who knows.

Just cant risk it I think with only 2 playing defenders this gw.
    Dias also seems prone YC.
Maybe Laporte is the way to go...

    4. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years

The rule is you have to isolate for 10 days from the date of your first positive, as even if you get a negative test within 10 days of that it can still spread to others within that time. Supposedly even if you test positive for it after around 10-14 days from when you got it, it's not really viral then. But the bubble which professionals are in definitely plays a part in how quick he's back naturally

Quite some change on here in general attitudes towards City assets. Prior to GW9 in the international break, anyone questioning the form of city, of of individual players and of the merit in moving big funds to them was basically shown the fixture list and ridiculed. Prime WC time, 'what's the point in waiting another week' I read numerous times

Very different atmosphere around this place now.

Makes you wonder. Who really are these casuals

If I get Robertson (for Dunne) this gw there could be some bench headache in the future gameweeks and I really don't like points on my bench.

    a. do it
    b. get Robertson but sell Lamptey
    c. do something else

    Martínez
    PVA, Chilwell, Lamptey
    Son, Salah, Fernandes, Grealish
    Wilson, Bamford, Jiménez

    Button, Burke, Mitchell, Dunne
1 free transfer, 3.1 million in the bank

good thing for Jota owners is Henderson and Thiago aren't near the squad yet, and Keita will be out for a while.

So Klopp will probably be forced into using 4 attackers vs Brighton, after that, who knows.

Salah back quicker than expected, which of these makes sense long term
    1) Son + Kdb c + Kane + Grealish
    2) Son + Salah c + Vardy + Grealish (-4)
    3) Salah + Kdb + JRodriguez + Watkins (-8)

Currently on 2 and gamble with Bruno over City cover

So those still with WC's have to use it in time for the start of GW16, which is not far away.

I did not realise this until now. I still have mine (and a poor rank too), so I feel tempted to 'attack' the upcoming GW's knowing I have that as a fallback should things really not work out.
