Kane aiming to extend eight-game run without a blank as Rodon starts in defence

Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated fixture of the weekend sees Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur clash at Stamford Bridge.

Kick-off in west London is at 16:30 GMT.

There are no real surprises in terms of team news, with both managers making just one change apiece from the sides they sent out in Gameweek 9.

Frank Lampard’s sole alteration was widely anticipated, with Thiago Silva (£5.5m) replacing Antonio Rudiger (£4.5m) at the heart of the Blues’ defence.

The fit-again Christian Pulisic (£8.2m) is back among the substitutes, alongside Kai Havertz (£8.3m).

Jose Mourinho’s only tweak to his line-up was an enforced one and also comes at centre-half, with Toby Alderweireld (£5.4m) ruled out with a groin problem.

Premier League rookie Joe Rodon (£5.0m) gets the nod over Davinson Sanchez (£5.3m) to partner Eric Dier (£4.9m).

There is plenty of interest in this one from a Fantasy Premier League perspective, with Harry Kane (£10.9m) and Son Heung-min (£9.5m) the second and third most-owned players in the game.

Five of Chelsea’s starting XI, including three of their back four, also boast double-digit ownerships, with Ben Chilwell (£6.1m) the most popular option among that quintet.

Kane was, in fact, the most-sold forward of Gameweek 10, with just over 200,000 Fantasy managers offloading the England international despite his impressive run of form: not since the opening weekend has the Spurs striker blanked.

Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Zouma, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Kante, Kovacic, Mount, Ziyech, Abraham, Werner.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Aurier, Rodon, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Bergwijn, Son, Kane.

Was Burnley's defense really that bad going into this GW?

Ah right. Understood. Still deciding whether to keep DCL. If Burnley were solid before I'd sell. I'll just wait for new articles then

They have a superb defence. Good statistically too.

But it's not just about whether it's a good defence or not, but the matchup. Low compact defences are City's speciality, which is why I went KDB(C). Other teams like United or Spurs would struggle to break down a low block like Burnley's, whereas Liverpool, Chelsea & City can obliterate them.

      I think people underthink it.

Yep, some good points above. Dont see just a 5-0 burnley loss and think they have a crap defence. Pope will be back and they are solid. Palace never looked like scoring. From gw 14 they have decent home fixtures, before then not great

Interesting. So that's y past history records are important.

How did City break down Burnley? Or any good analytical video on youtube on attacking teams breaking down defense?

Nice way of thinking. Tactics's weaknesses etc.

There was a Community article here some time ago categorising teams into 3 groups (eg: if team from group A meet team from group B it will be goalfest)

Anyway any other teams that have weaknesses like that? Guessing Southampton high line would be susceptible to fast wingers?

        1. Piggs Boson
          • 12 Years
          3 years, 4 months ago

Ooh, need to find that article.

I've started a tab on my spreadsheet looking to categorise teams like this, but haven't got around to putting anything in.

Some managers change systems a lot, so I wanted to do deep analysis on each team and manager, and how they set up against different systems. Bielsa-style.

I feel like that'd definitelt help you a lot. The article I mentioned talk about 3 categories.

            Perfectionists. Predator. Talisman.

Liv City Southampton are Perfectionists. Playing the way they have always played.

Predators are like Spurs, Aston Villa.

So when Predators meet Perfectionists that are not so good, it tends to be a goalfest, he'd say.

            It was weeks back tho.

Yep I think past history between teams is really important. Sometimes teams just match up in a particularly good or bad way and its no surprise to see history repeat itself regardless of teams form going into a game.
