Kilman and Ait Nouri benched as Aubameyang leads the line for Arsenal

Two relatively goal-shy attacks go head to head at the Emirates this evening, as Arsenal play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kick-off in north London is at 19:15 GMT.

The Gunners have scored on just one occasion in the last five Gameweeks and their last goal from open play came against Sheffield United at the beginning of October.

Mikel Arteta’s side have had fewer attempts on goal than any other team this season.

Wolves have similarly been below-par in the opposition box, with both themselves and Arsenal in the bottom six for goals scored in 2020/21.

Despite being top of our Season Ticker for attack from Gameweeks 3-9, Nuno Espirito Santo’s outfit have scored at a rate of less than one goal per match over that time.

On the positive side, however, these two clubs are among the five meanest defences for goals conceded (ten apiece).

As for the team news, Arteta has made two changes from the team that held Leeds United at Elland Road last week.

Bukayo Saka (£5.2m) has recovered from a dead leg to replace the suspended Nicolas Pepe (£7.6m), while David Luiz (£5.5m) is in for Rob Holding (£4.4m) at centre-half.

We await to see how the Arsenal boss sends out his troops but it appears, on paper, that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.6m) is leading the line at the Emirates.

Santo has made three alterations to his starting XI, with budget defender Max Kilman (£4.3m) – Wolves’ most-owned FPL asset – among those to make way.

Conor Coady (£5.0m) is back from his spell in self-isolation, while Pedro Neto (£5.5m) and Marcal (£4.8m) are also recalled.

Ruben Neves (£5.3m) and Rayan Ait Nouri (£5.0m) drop to the bench, along with Kilman.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney, Ceballos, Xhaka, Willock, Willian, Saka, Aubameyang.

Wolves XI: Patrício, Semedo, Coady, Boly, Marçal, Dendoncker, Moutinho, Traoré, Podence, Neto, Jiménez.

Arsenal fans moaned about wenger, his team at least had a go and played some great football at times.

Now it's built on a defence which is poor but has held firm for a while but is now showing it's weaknesses and there is nothing going forwards

Guys, who is your BEST option preference for a defender at 4.6 and below?

Thinking of someone like KWP, Dallas, West Ham defender maybe.

Other defenders are James & Chillwell.
Just thinking ahead for KDB being brought in.

    Cheers guys.

But people say our squad is average all the time bar a few players, then are surprised that we do so bad. I don’t get it? And nah, Arteta needs a long time. This season is a write off. No manager in the world would fix this crap straight away.

Well, the point is, while I'm not a big fan of him either, Emery had better results and the team played better under him, and there were already calls for him to be sacked in his 1st season.

I'm not an Arsenal fan so don't really care but Arteta isn't showing any signs of promise or improvement in the team. And not just talking about the results; the mentality and the style of football they play is just so negative.

          • 8 Years

Whilst I back Arteta, there is simply no logic to that decision. He is the only player in our team who can play forwards. I don’t care what anyone says, Ozil is a better player than Willock, Ceballos, and more, but yet he’s not in the 25 man squad.

Ozil has never done any wrong in our team on or off the pitch, so people like you who slate him for no reason, show your true colours.

Were you happy wit Ozil's consistent contribution and attitude for Arsenal? Looked a lot of of the time to me like he'd put in the effort when he felt like it and with his talents could be brilliant. But not often enough for me.

Ozil was much better 3/4 years ago. He’s not as good as then. But he’s much better than the players in our squad right now and he’s not even in the 25 man squad.

Ozil is actually one of the best playmakers ever. But at Arsenal, we surrounded him with so much crap and wasted him. He’s been here for over 7 years and never once have we had a team with all the pieces in the jigsaw. The guy got 19 assists in 15/16 with Giroud ahead of him wasting so many chances.

              It’s ended in such a sh***y way.

There are 7 sub 5.5M midfielders with more points than him.

Need Vardy to outscore KdB and Soucek to outscore Son.

    Chances?

Hope so, couldn’t decide between KdB or Vardy earlier in the week and in the end went for Sterling and Vardy in a hit (couldn’t afford KdB)
