How to use teams’ specific weaknesses to pick the right FPL assets

Despite selling Jamie Vardy (£10.3m) for a hit on Friday, Gameweek 12 turned out to be a pretty good one for me.

After taking my second minus four of the season to accommodate Mohamed Salah (£12.3m), I returned a total of 70 points and as a result, now sit 202,736th overall, with my Wildcard still intact.

So, as focus turns to Gameweek 13, I’m going to have a look at where teams have been conceding most of their chances from this season, in the hope of identifying one or two transfer targets for the Christmas period.

I’ll then have a closer look at some of the players who stood out, and also discuss plans going forward.

WHERE TEAMS CONCEDE THE MOST CHANCES FROM

Using data from the Premium Members Area, I’ve had a look at where each team is most susceptible to conceding chances. This is something I like to keep track of during the season, in an attempt to find out which fantasy options can exploit those weaknesses.

Probably bench Soucek, as others have higher ceiling. And I’d start Ayling as he probably has highest clean sheet potential.

Leeds don’t keep clean sheets ; but none of them have high chance of attacking return so probably Taylor as least likely to be booked and may get a cross in.

Have seen it mentioned by others as a punt. Could be worth it for a week or two and then always come back off if it doesn’t work. Depends if you’re chasing or holding a liras tbh.

    Bottomed out

    Martinez Mccarthy
    Chilwell, Lamptey, Targett, KWP, Lewis
    Salah, KDB, Fernandes, Son, Bissouma
    DCL, Wilson, Bamford

2FT, no idea what to do with them, 0.0m in the bank

Wouldn't normally ask blindly for help, but the only thing I can think to do is downgrade one of the goalkeepers to the 4m understudy of the goalkeeper I keep, so I have those funds in the bank for a move I might want to make the week after. Anything jump out as a obvious weakness or a move to make?

Unfortunately no Kane has hurt me this year. Fpl is an unbalanced game imo, getting the heavy hitters wrong and not captaining them at the right times often makes a whole team of correct decisions regarding your smaller hitters irrelevant.

Kept overthinking about Adams vs Watkins to fund in KDB

Had a nap only to miss deadline and KDB rose. Now decision has been made for me as im priced out of Watkins 😀

    Fair result?

I had 6.5m to spend on fwd to fund Bruno(0.1m short of DWilson). Once I got Maupay/Wood out of my mind it was between Watkins and Adams...

      I also opted for Adams.

Yeah i just feel like Barkley is a big miss for villa. Plus Adams has been more consistent with returns in 7 out of his 12 matches

Watkins less so with returns in only 3 out of his 10 matches

Not to forget soton has been fixture proof by scoring 7
        against che tot and mu

    Martinez + 4.0
    James, Dias, Cresswell, KWP, Balbuena
KDB, Bruno, Grealish, Soucek, & ???
    DCL, Bamford, Adams

Have exactly enough for Salah as the 5th mid, but kind of not sure of committing so much to him.
Could move Grealish to Son and still have enough for Mahrez/Rashford.

Or could do Son and keep 2.7 itb for flexibility....can always shift to Salah for the West Brom match.

Points projections would suggest bench Adams and JWP before the others....but suspensions for Xhaka and Bellerin in this match might give them a higher chance for points with the defense the Gunners can field.

With the Christmas schedule looming, I'm thinking about rotation. Do you have any budget (less than 6) mids or forwards on your watchlist?

For mids I'm considering Dendonker at the low end and Eze at the top end, with Soucek, Podence, Neto and Klich inbetween.

Up front I'm weighing up Welbeck and Reid.

    Thoughts?

for sure a good bench is going to be needed with the games coming every few days, you can't really go wrong with any of the names you mentioned as long as they play, i have gone for Lookman and Welbeck as a rotation pair, with Lamptey and whoever i sell Bellerin for later today making up the numbers

Nice choices actually. I can't decide between Reid and Welbeck upfront. Welbeck has slightly better fixtures, but perhaps more competition and less minutes...either way, both are good value.

Lookman is interesting. I'll check his stats.

2FT but not much to be done without coming off Vardy. G2G or further change needed? Options B & C would only be for a few weeks until I use Vardy cash for Grealish/Zaha, but would prevent me losing any value on him should he drop.

I can understand the temptation to captain a player playing later in the gw and/or from the game that suits our time zone, to be able to watch the match. However, as Flair said, it's a terrible reason in terms of FPL points. Have fallen victim of this myself but we should captain someone who we think scores the most, no other reason tops this one.

Sold Vardy to get Bruno, using 2 FTs. Don't feel good about it now, specially with KDB and Mahrez both in my team who belong to Pep's team!

Sheffield must get a beak at some point. The Yorkshire - Wankashire element may come into play.

Sheffield have never started Brewster, so there is an element of a twist in that story, whereas West Brom have pretty much have little left in the playbook. I think City at Home may swing it, but i don't expect cricket scores in either.

Although there is no champion's league matches, there is Christmas coming up, so rotations for the big teams and desperation for the smaller teams may mean There could be some shock results.

No matter how you frame the question, the answer will not be clear, as you are probably looking for answer on whether to captain Bruno or KDB from the answers 🙂 City will most likely score more with or without KDB. I think it entirely depends on whether you are a risk taker or risk averse.

Bruno & Kdb won’t play 90 mins midweek. Usually managers sub important players off during midweek games. They both played 90 during the weekend so it is up to them to beat time & haul whereas Salah is nailed on for 90 mins at home to Spurs.

Tbh, I think Salah is a good captain pick this gw. All those Mourinho bus rubbish talk would be put to bed when Salah hauls
