Henderson and Telles in for de Gea and Shaw as Brewster is benched again

The first set of midweek Premier League fixtures of 2020/21 comes to a close this evening at Bramall Lane.

Manchester United are the visitors as Sheffield United look to end their 12-match run without a win, with kick-off in South Yorkshire at 20:00 GMT.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought Dean Henderson (£5.3m) into his starting XI tonight, with David de Gea (£5.3m) only among the substitutes.

Alex Telles (£5.5m) for Luke Shaw (£4.8m) at left-back is another defensive change that the Norwegian has made, while Nemanja Matic (£4.8m) and Anthony Martial (£8.7m) are brought back into the fold at the expense of Scott McTominay (£4.9m) and Fred (£5.3m).

Chris Wilder has made three alterations to his team, who are looking to avoid a club record eighth successive league defeat.

Jack Robinson (£4.3m) ousts Phil Jagielka (£4.0m) in defence while Oliver Burke (£4.3m) and David McGoldrick (£5.2m) replace the injured Oli McBurnie (£5.6m) and veteran Billy Sharp (£5.6m) in attack.

Those FPL managers hoping for points from Rhian Brewster (£4.5m) will have a familiar sinking feeling, as the young striker is again only among the substitutes.

Bruno Fernandes (£11.0m) is the most-captained player of Gameweek 13, with 1,275,089 managers handing him the armband for this clash.

Sheffield United XI: Ramsdale, Baldock, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Stevens, Berge, Ampadu, Fleck, Burke, McGoldrick.

Man Utd XI: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, Matic, Pogba, Greenwood, Fernandes, Martial, Rashford.

Lamptey is first choice. He doesn't start if he's injured.

57 Points. None benched, although might have liked it for one or two given Lamptey 1st on the bench!

KDB (C) was alright considering the Bruno blank. Best part of the week were the Coufal points.

Went into the GW the happiest I've been in a long while with my team but as soon as Wolves scored things went decidedly pear shaped game by game. Facing a horrid red arrow I still went into the final day with hope my arrow would change colour with triple Villa and Bruno capped ...

A Konsa illness and Bruno failboat later I'm licking my wounds from the red arrow impaled in my hopes but at least I survived LMS by 1pt!!!

      Martinez (Forster)
      Chilwell Zouma Konsa (KWP Douglas)
      Bruno(c) KDB Salah Grealish Maddison
      Kane Bamford (Brewster)
      44-4 🙁

      Thank you Martinez!

The very little I've seen seems to say it's nothing serious and he's expected to be OK for Sunday but nothing from any source I'd consider reputable. I'm kinda thinking if it was covid then we'd know though.

Rough: Left 19 points on the bench (Johnstone 4, Bamford 6 and Podence 9).

Smooth: Dallas! Very rare I have a defender score or a new signing returns straight away, he ticked both boxes.

Rough: Draft H2H, I lose to the ghost team bottom of the league who were yet to win a game, thanks to hauls in the same week from Auba, Firmino and Haller, could only happen to me!

Rough - can't help but feel disappointed with KDB captain despite those two bonus points

Smooth - very nearly did Lamptey (6pts) to Stones (0pts) but decided against it last minute
A very decent score of 64 for the week

      ROUGH: I missed the deadline.

My team had Jota (injured) and Bellerin (suspended), with Mitchell (non-player) on the bench.

Mahrez didn't play either, which brought Justin and Brewster into the starting XI for 1 point each, and leaving me with only 10 players (still better than 9 players in GW10).

My playing Arsenal defender, Gabriel, got an inevitable red card after Arteta's team talk: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/22983393

      And I captained KDB's 4 pts.

SMOOTH: I've waited since GW2... A player I've kept though rough times and rough times (and missing a few more deadlines), a player with only 12 points in total.... Martial finally comes home with the goods. 10 points from a goal and assist that nearly doubles his contribution this season.

ROUGH: I now can't bring myself to sell him.

61pts with no Son, got to be happy with that. OR rise from 151k to 78k.

Huge smooths were my best autosubs in years... Stones and Shaw didn't play (and both their teams conceded) so Dallas (7) and Podence (9) came off the bench for me.

Cheers mate... I've had Son most of the season but ditched him for Grealish at the moment, not sure if that one will pay dividends. Bit worried about no Kane against Leicester based on his record against them. But you can't have them all... and they don't look 'explosive' at the moment to me.

Just thinking aloud here, but I can’t help but think that GW19 is a plum fixture for BB. So many cheap decent options from Leeds, WHam, Sou etc...and lots of top premiums playing.

But how on earth at this short notice are we supposed to build a squad of 15 packed (but not filled) with DGWers with 5 transfers. Too many hits as well will negate the benefit. Wish I had WC still!

So I think I’m going to go with FH18 & TC in 19 instead. It’s way more feasible to get say 9 or 10 DGWers (with some SGW players on the bench who you want to keep). Then I’ll try to use my second WC to forge a BB team for the later DGW (cross that bridge...)

    1. Ajax Hamsterdam
      • 9 Years

it depends of the structure of your team to be honest. i have enough transfers (unless injuries occur obviously) to have 14 dgws players and kane without taking a hit. But I start to wonder if all the planning and "sacrifices" (not getting kane for example) made along the way are worth it. I'm a bit lost 🙂

It's so plum for the BB. I think if you plan well and have a few hits you can get there.

      My tentative plan is now:

      GW14: Roll FT
      GW15: Grealish + Lamptey > Robertson + Soucek
GW16: DCL > Adams, Forster > McCarthy -4 (covers Martinez vs che)
      GW17: Mitchell > Coufal
      GW18: FH
      GW19: BB (KdB + Davis > Bowen + Werner/Ings)

      Gives me:

      Martinez* McCarthy
      Robbo Zouma Chilwell Dallas Coufal
      Salah Fernandes Son* Bowen Soucek
      Werner Adams Bamford

13 DGWers on the BB. I can probably survive a few weeks benching Soucek every week. 2nd WC still in pocket.

the real question for me is "is it worth it?" you ll be missing on opportunities from other players who could so well to end up with a disappointing dgw19. for instance I just cant decide whether to keep vardy or move to son with 2 ft...

I don't think I lose much if I go for it honestly...

I'd lose some team value by ditching DCL and Grealish. Grealish especially will be sad to lose because I'll want him back, but it's nothing huge.

Just thought I’d point out that you only ever get one transfer after a FH, regardless of if you had one left over prior to using it, so you wouldn’t be able to change both De Bruyne and Davis and slightly ruins your bench boost

Interesting hearing blackbox lay the blame for KdB not living up to his price tag at the feet of his team mates. It's fair to argue that had they been more clinical, KdB would have a better assist return. But they're also kind of shirking responsibility for their own choices. What really took KdB to that serious premium level last year was that he scored half a dozen more goals than in previous seasons. He was clinical from free kicks and from open play in front of goal. This season he's reverted to the kind of output we'd seen in previous seasons of 6, 7 and 8 goals. In fact, given he didn't take pens in any of those seasons, his efforts in front of goal have not just regressed from 2019/20 (11), but even relative to his weaker goalscoring seasons. He's actually on course for about 18 assists. Not amazing, but really in line with past totals of 18, 21, 23.

So you can't keep blaming ithis on his teammates. If he is going to live up to 11.5 (now what, 11.8?) 2-3m higher value than past years, we can't just be blaming others. One more assist up to this point and he'd be on course. The problem is he's at least two goals short.

Last game he was pretty poor. Kept hitting the first man with his passes and just didn’t seem ‘on it’.

But the few games before that was a different story. He was brilliant and to be fair he could have had more goals and assists than he got over that time.

Not sure what to do about him now. Keep & not captain for now I guess

May be Aguero back will help his assists? He’d have buried those 2 gundogan chances

I also agree with this but didn't want it to end up just an effort in mauling KdB. I own him after all 🙁

But yeah, I didn't agree with their analysis that he's the only player that's at the level of last year. He's not even on the same planet. Also don't agree we want to be seeing him in the 10 week in week out. I don't have the stats to back it up, so could be total bias, but feel like I've seen him at his most destructive out wide and then lashing shots in from deeper positions, and of course, free kicks. Has he really ever consistently been the player we want to see in the 10?

Thing that mainly worries me is that he's a player that thrives on space and momentum and power. He's not David Silva, dancing about in tiny spaces, playing short sharp passes, popping up out of nowhere, he's a player that when he finds a little space driving forwards is absolutely devastating. You let him drive up the wing and swing in 3 crosses and it's moreorless a guarantee that one is going in. Where's that gone

I have 2FT and want to start making moves towards my GW19 team as I think I’ll probably play FH in 18 as it stands.

Thinking of doing Grealish > Son but then need to raise £2.1m. Cresswell > Coufal covers a bit. Where would you downgrade to raise the additional £1.6m?

    Martinez, Forster
    Robbo, Chilwell, Cresswell, KWP, Branthwaite
    Salah, KDB, Bruno, Grealish, Stephens
    DCL, Bamford, Wilson

Is DCL > Adams a decent move or are DCL’s fixtures good enough to ignore recent form?

Aside from dumping KDB or Robbo I don’t see the solution! Despite tonight I’m not ready to dump Bruno yet.

Or do I continue to ignore Son/ Kane for now?!

    Cheers

Maybe look at Chilwell > James, then see what you can do with Wilson > someone else?

Personally I reluctantly sold Robbo 2 weeks ago but it really frees things up and you could avoid a hit that way.

Wilson out is definitely on the cards but I was thinking he should be given FUL?

Could do Grealish, Chilwell, DCL > Son, James, Adams (-4)

Depends on if you really think that’s worth it just to get Son in. Grealish has WBA, who’ve been decent defensively and so has FUL in regards to Wilson. Maybe you could raise enough funds by selling Robbo and a striker to upgrade Stephens and switch to 3-5-2

sad thing is I sold Rashy for Mahrez in GW11 which was a horrendous error, feel like I'm going around in circles 🙁

I'd go for it. Son v shu could well outscore dgw Vardy and Bamford has a DGW too - Foden is a dud.

So people are moving out Grealish? Think he is worth keeping because always looks involved in everything Villa does. Also Villa has two extra games to play.

I need him to become Soucek in order to do my plans...

Also, after wba CRY he plays che mun TOT and has no DGW in 19.

It's super natural to get rid of Grealish in GW16.
