Budget FPL defender Kilman returns as Podence and Neto lead the line for Wolves

The penultimate match of Gameweek 14 sees Burnley play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kick-off at Turf Moor is at 17:30 GMT.

The headline team news is the recall of Max Kilman (£4.2m) to the Wolves starting XI after a four-game absence.

Kilman is in for Willy Boly (£5.5m), who was an injury doubt prior to the game and who is only among the substitutes this evening.

Another ‘flagged’ Wolves player, Leander Dendoncker (£4.8m), misses out altogether.

Marcal (£4.8m) and Fabio Silva (£5.2m) are both benched as teenage midfielder Owen Otasowie (£4.5m), Joao Moutinho (£5.2m) and Rayan Aït-Nouri (£5.0m) are also promoted to the starting XI.

The omission of Silva from the line-up will presumably mean that Daniel Podence (£5.5m) and Pedro Neto (£5.9m) will play as a two-pronged strike force tonight.

Not one for making wholesale changes, Sean Dyche has made only one alteration from the side that drew 0-0 with Aston Villa last time out.

Ashley Barnes (£6.0m) is in for Jay Rodriguez (£5.8m) up top.

Neto is the most-owned player on show tonight, closely followed by Kilman.

Not one of the Clarets’ squad has a double-digit ownership, although the in-form Nick Pope (£5.4m) sits in just under 10% of teams.

Pope has a better points-per-match average this season than any other goalkeeper who has made more than one start.

Neto, meanwhile, is the highest-points scorer among sub-£6.0m midfielders.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Brady, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Wood, Barnes.

Wolves XI: Patricio, Semedo, Saiss, Coady, Kilman, Ait-Nouri, Otasowie, Moutinho, Neves, Podence, Neto.

So it looks like there won’t be a good opportunity to use the bench boost if again if you haven’t used it in DGW19.

    Is that correct?

But I think if you wildcard for 26, then you would have to be prepared for the blank in 29, meaning if you have a full compliment for 26 then you will be unable to field a decent team in the blank.

Presumably you could deal with 29 if you hold onto FH?

          Mine: FTs for 18, FH19, BB26, WC27 (covers 29), TC Bruno's Burnley double.

8 or so players for GW18
Mix of DGWs and good SGW players in 19 (and Mo (TC))

I remember a few years back everyone preparing carefully for a blank week and most players failed. Except Salah who got 20 plus points (or was it Sanchez). Anyway, there were people who captained him and got more points for their one player than I got for my carefully planned team and rubbish captain choice. Point is, you don’t need 11 players on the pitch to get a decent score and waste a chip or ruin your squad in the process.

GW26 will still be a sizable DGW but your bench will be full of players who blank in GW29.

Well that's one way of looking at it.

Yeah mate unless you could somehow prep for it without the wildcard and then use the wildcard prior to the blank. Would there be enough time for that though.

8 players including Son, Kane, Dias and KDB for GW18
7 DGW plus Son, Kane, Dias and KDB for GW19 with Salah as TC
          WC GW25

Rashford was an excellent captain pick, his pace and ability on the counter was the perfect matchup versus a high pressing and abysmal Leeds defense. Owners can consider them extremely unlucky to not get a return.

If we set our team up for DGW 19 with our wildcard next week...our team will be stuck with a load of money on the bench and players we don’t want.
Are you using the second wildcard straight after the DGW?

    1. Fpl stress
      • 6 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

Nahh not really it's only 2 bench players which you can get rid off with a few free transfers or a minus 4

A couple of transfers fixes that...

    3. The Ilfordian

      3 years, 3 months ago

Yes, that’s my worry too. I have a decent team for DGW but rubbish bench so don’t want to waste a WC making changes. It’s a risk as some previous years the DGW bounty hasn’t appeared as rotation due to European and FA cup matches meant getting players only once but I think that’s a risk here too. And I usually make lots of ground at the end of the season with chips as others are struggling with out of form players that they can’t move

    4. Gross Blank Point
      • 3 Years

Depends how you play. I don't have any non players in my squad anyway so there is always money on the bench as you put it

    5. Blzbobuk
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

No. Having a load of defenders means you can easily play 4 at the back and manage injuries whilst you rotate out - 1 transfer to a non player means you have cash itb. Save wildcard for next blank dgw

    6. TRIPOS TOPPER
      • 6 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

      not really

      it's a series of 4.5-5 defenders, a 5m mid and a 5m keeper

most people would have a couple of 4.5 def or cover anyway and Soucek

the main diff is the keeper

    7. abhirup780
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

You only need to transfer out your 2nd GK if he is a premium pick and one or two of the cheap def and 8th attacker. I am going with Anguissa will give 4 points in the DGW and doesn't need to be transferred out.

    8. FPL_Motty

I'm not using a WC before, or after, because sod having a backup GK i will never use wasting 0.5m+ and another transfer to fix. Teams that use a WC after 19 are wasting it, teams that use 2x transfers to fix their team after 19 will be losing ground on other teams like mine when I will use my transfer to target form and fixtures again, rather than trading a back GK or taking hits.

How does this sound for a plan ?

8 players including Son, Kane, Dias and KDB for GW18
7 DGWers plus Son, Kane, Dias and KDB for GW19 with Salah as TC (If all goes to plan I still have a spare FT so 8 DGWers is possible)
    WC GW25
BB DGW26 (assuming GW29 blanks are moved to it)
    FH BGW29

My only real concerns are PL grinding to a halt again leaving me with no chips to play when it resumes, and rather there is going to be a better TC option than Salah in GW19.
