My final FPL transfer decisions ahead of Gameweek 16 Wildcard

After an eventful Gameweek 14, in which I almost committed the deadly sin of selling Mohamed Salah (£12.5m), I couldn’t be happier with the end result: a total of 93 points and an overall rank well inside the Top 20K for the first time since Gameweek 10.

Considering the rumours from several sources saying Salah was going to be rested at Selhurst Park, I almost pulled the trigger and sold him for Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) on Saturday morning. However, since I wasn’t 100% convinced by the rumours, I decided to hold fire and hope for a cameo from the Liverpool midfielder at the very least. After all, it would be heartbreaking to sell him ahead of such a nice fixture just to find out the rumours weren’t true.

However, the rumours were very true and he was indeed benched. But Salah doesn’t need many minutes to wreak havoc and after his 16-pointer, I was relieved to have decided to save my transfer. In addition, Ruben Dias (£5.7m), Andrew Robertson (£7.3m), Jack Grealish (£7.8m) and my captain Bruno Fernandes (£11.0m) all delivered nine points or more, which felt great after three red arrows in a row.

IMO Burnley will sit back and go aerial, which Leeds don't like but Brighton are more expansive

    Hey all

    With Liverpool’s fixtures ahead

Is Vardy to Firmino to sideways? It would be for a hit too

Just thinking of Firmino’s point possibility given his recent form.

    Thoughts?

    1FT have Chilwell and Watkins

    A) Sell Watkins
    B) Sell Chilwell
    C) Keep both and reassess

I don't think what I'm posting here is anything new, but something to think about:

For most on here and among the FPL Pro-pundits, 3-4-3 seems to be the preferred formation. The template forwards for a while had been Kane-DCL-Bamford but due to Spurs starting to struggle a little in front of goal and premium mids firing, people have started to switch Kane out for a 6 mil forward, of which, let's face it, the options are Watkins or Adams.

These are the points-per-game (PPG) for regular starters 6.5m* and below:

    Chillwell 6.0
    Stones 6.0
    Zouma 5.8
    Mings 5.2
    Silva 5.2
    Cancelo 5.1
    Konsa 4.9
    Ward-Prowse 4.8
    Holgate 4.8
    ADAMS 4.8
    Vestergaard 4.8
    WATKINS 4.5
    Bowen 4.5

(on a side note in terms of value over the season, Dallas, Justin & Bednarek also outscore the two forwards)

It goes without saying that all of these defenders are cheaper than Watkins & Adams. What we have also seen recently is that after the goalfests of the first 10 or so gameweeks things have started to calm down a little now, especially among the premium defences (City - Chelsea - Liv). I expect Liverpool to improve further with Matip back and TAA getting up to speed (as well as other players returning).

Considering the above and City's fixture run, i think the case for 4-4-2 with four 'big-team' defenders has never been stronger, Robbo/TAA plus three of Chelsea & City. Especially as with the exception of the Liverpool players, none of the preferred targets (Chillwell, James, Zouma, Cancelo & Dias) are in the 'premium' price bracket of 6 mil+ and so provide excellent value. You do need two nailed subs of course to cover possible rotation of course.

Among the midfielders you have to go to Zaha before you find a better PPG average than the defenders above (among regular starters), which also suggests 3-5-2 is not the answer either.

*If you can stretch to Wilson at 6.6 he is currently outscoring all of the list above but I feel he will regress, and again, he's far more expensive.

I don't know how much to read into PPG, but these are just my observations. Thoughts?

u will never go an FPL season without someone looking at PPG and going why don’t we all have 5 premium defenders in they are the best value for money?

Surely Bamford should get a mention at 5.9ppg

Ultimately it comes to TV a bit but I'd agree sub 7m mids are a bit iffy atm with flavour of the week changing regularly - currently Raphina and Soucek being all the rage. I think there's definitely scope in having a strong front 7 and your main sub(s) to be decent def(s) but depends a bit on tv. Basically if you are scrimping then there's better value at the back but strikers/mids score better if you can afford good ones

I did my WC in GW15 to catch the price rises on Zouma, Coufal, and Adams. Would have been priced out otherwise.

      Fabianski McCarthy
      Robertson Zouma, Coufal Walker-Peters Taylor
      Salah KDB Son Soucek Raphina
Calvert-Lewin/Vardy (watching potential Vardy price drop), Bamford Adams

Plans to Free Hit in GW18. Will move KDB to Bruno and possibly Son to Rashford before GW 19.

Right, KDB ahead of Bruno just for Newcastle (watching Bruno's potential price rise, though). I want to keep a "buffer" transfer open, in case of injury, before GW19, so I'm hiding behind the couch and am leaving Kane out. Only so many moves I can make before GW19 and don't have enough money to bring him without dropping others out.

Yes. After free hit you get just one free transfer. I think you can roll a transfer in a week you use the bench boost as it doesn't involve transferring players.

Correct. Wildcard and Free Hit always wipe out any carried transfers (and hits) and leave you with 1FT the following week.

BB and TC work independently of transfers.
