FPL differentials to consider for Gameweek 17 and the upcoming Double Gameweek

With one eye on Gameweek 17 and the other on the Double Gameweek, Az looks at some low-owned FPL players to in his latest Pro Pundits piece.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas (even under strange circumstances) and are looking forward to the New Year and 2021.

I’m not going to focus this article on my team as Mark and I will be discussing what’s going wrong for me in our next episode of FPL BlackBox.

Instead, I’m going to present some differentials ahead of the upcoming Double Gameweek. I’m building my side out with the Free Hit in Gameweek 18 in mind, which leaves me free to plan who to have in place ready for Gameweek 19 – how exciting!

Status of Reece James? Is he expected back against City?

Got a hamstring issue according to Lampard so wouldn't be surprised if he isn't risked. Azpi is better defensively anyway which might suit them v City.

As if the highest scorer of this week got TC Dallas. Once in my life Id love to have the balls to triple captain a defender

Captained Camarasa that week, was delighted with his 1 assist in 2 games when many captained Duffy

    Best transfer here?

    Ramsdale
    Robbo Cancelo Ayling
    Salah Son Bruno Soucek
    DCL Adams Bamford

    MartinezAnguissa Lewis Taylor

    A) DCL to Vardy
    B) Lewis to Lowton (best 4.5 def with a double?)

Yeah, you'll have to wait as long as possible and maybe we'll get some news. Also, remember Balbuena. Rested this week and got the peach DGW for just 4.4

He was injured in gw13 if that makes a difference. Alioski at 4.5 could be another good one

Yeah there's a decent chance of two clean sheets there! Think he was only rested last game because of the quick turnaround, West Ham having 3 games in 6 days this week, whereas there is more rest in between the two games in GW19 and the one after in GW20

FH18 & BB19 and have 10.3 ITB after getting rid of Taylor & Vestergaard.

No way I'm making early transfer but I still need to think of something as I have to use my FT without fail this week

    Mendy(Forster)
    Robertson Cancelo Taylor (Coufal)(Lamptey)
    Salah Son Fernandes Grealish (Riedewald)
    DCL Bamford Rodrigo

Plan is to FH18 but will I be able to BB in 19? or just go with TC
    0FT,2.1 itb

    A) Lamptey to Maguire/Dallas/Chilwell/Stones

    B) Grealish to Rashford

    C) Other

Same position as me, if Cancelo has a fixture i can do DCL to Vardy, otherwise i'll have to transfer in a playing defender. Lamptey to Dallas looks good anyway really.

Goodness. This is why I ask the same question in a few different ways. Pretty sure I've got different answers each time. Seeming like a coin flip, then. Or I do nothing, like 3 of the past 4 weeks.

That’s worked out for you so far- good score
Try simplifying your question. In each of your options you are swapping KDB for Son- so hat should be your first decision. If you are set on that, then the choices are more straightforward.

Best transfer(s) here? Planning to FH19 unless we hear of postponed games being moved to 18/19:

    McCarthy
    Bellerin, Dier, Cancelo
    Salah, KDB, Bruno, Son
    Bamford, Wilson, Watkins

    Forster, Martinelli, Targett, Douglas

You already have 9 players for the BGW18, so it's pretty good. Personally, I'd wait to see if Cancelo has Covid. If he is indeed positive, I'd downgrade him to Stones and upgrade Douglas to have one more extra player for GW18 or even wait and see if Mitchell can keep his starting place for Palace so you can do Douglas to him. Other than that I think you are good.

Just been reading the Ben Crellin Twitter threads. Lots of possible game changes due to broadcaster demands. A summary of his thinking below:
EVE vs MCI moving to DGW19
TOT vs FUL moving to GW18 or DGW19 would mean another fixture would have to move
TOT vs FUL can move to BGW18 if AVL vs TOT is moved from BGW18 to DGW19 (DGW for AVL & TOT)
TOT vs FUL can move to DGW19 if FUL vs MUN is moved from DGW19 to BGW18 (no DGW for Man Utd)

The only other option for when the games could be played in January (aside from GW18/19 or the FA Cup being delayed) is that they'll be played next midweek (DGW17) and the EFL Cup Semi-Finals will be delayed.

If both EVE vs MCI and TOT vs FUL are moved to GW 18/19 then you'd have 5 midweek fixtures in Blank GW18 and 7 midweek fixtures in DGW19.
The TV companies might want to balance it out so there a 6 fixtures in each midweek.

It's very confusing, and highlights that apart from the clubs and the PL, the broadcasters (Amazon Prime in particular) also have massive input. Basically my takeaway is:
Looks like ManC v Everton will slot into GW19 (means a DGW for both teams)
If they need to accommodate the Spurs v Fulham game in either GW18 or GW19 then one of AVL v TOT, or FUL v MUN will need to be shifted between those 2 GW's.

I think this week has shown the need to get a playing bench - targetting dgw if possible but avoiding triple ups.

The top 4,194,304 scoring teams in Gameweek 16 will qualify for the cup.

What's the logic behind Gameweek 16? That's by far the worst game week for qualification.
Why not have top 4,194,304 in overall league by Gameweek 16??

    Ended up qualifying (just) btw.

I think a hit or two is the better option personally.

Get the right dgw players in and it pays for itself.

No, especially when games can be postponed because of Covid. Get rid of Mahrez.

In DGW19 would you play Son (Sheffield) or Dallas (Brighton & Southampton)?

      Both, surely

What's the likelihood of City and Everton being involved in DGW19?

It "fits", and that probably means there's a fair chance given the amount of games city have to play.

No one knows for sure though.

Arteta on Saka's injury being a bad one: "Hopefully not, he was limping. Hopefully he will be fine." Basically no infos.

Losing kdb for a hit is always a risk, and I've been waiting for ricardo to return in place of justin forever, but yes, I think that might pay off.

With BGW and potential DGW I am planning to remain rigid and continue with KDB in my team. Correct call?

I did not have Son, 60+ something % ownership, I got away this gw with the game being postponed, it felt like an easy decision to bin kdb.

I could easily get him back for the double gw, if needed

Morning Dz. What's the status of Manchester City for gameweek 19? Will they also be having a double gameweek?
