FPL differentials to consider for Gameweek 17 and the upcoming Double Gameweek

With one eye on Gameweek 17 and the other on the Double Gameweek, Az looks at some low-owned FPL players to in his latest Pro Pundits piece.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas (even under strange circumstances) and are looking forward to the New Year and 2021.

I’m not going to focus this article on my team as Mark and I will be discussing what’s going wrong for me in our next episode of FPL BlackBox.

Instead, I’m going to present some differentials ahead of the upcoming Double Gameweek. I’m building my side out with the Free Hit in Gameweek 18 in mind, which leaves me free to plan who to have in place ready for Gameweek 19 – how exciting!

Even more reason to FH if light on Spurs.

Fulham would have no blank then a double. Hmm. Good for non FHers if you want to go there.

Or even less reason to if you’ve got 3 Spurs (or can get 3 with a FT)...

      From last season,
KDB last minute goal on the final day - cemented the ML for me

      From this season,
GW14 - 102 points with a 20k Gameweek rank and helped me move from 445k to 157k OR

Do people still share my feeling that Manutd at best will finish 4th/5th this season even with lofty 2nd plqce notwithstanding? Never really have hit form and serious problem of good wide players. Or Epl will continue to be this tricky and Manutd get a lucky 2nd place finish?!

Well City, Chelsea & Spurs aren't performing better than us either. So they don't deserve 2nd position too.

Hard to evaluate the league table with Man City and Villa having completed two matches less and Everton + Tottenham one match less. For all we know, Villa could be second, City third, Everton fourth and United fifth.

If United can keep Bruno fit for whole season, you never know.

Other teams are below par atm compared to themselves last season. Anything inside top 3 would be great finish for United.

I say Pool away would be the litmus test for United

The fact that they're already out of CL gives them an advantage compared to some of the other contenders, IMO. The other thing which is interesting is that they've beaten teams who play attacking football and teams who play deep defense in the last 8 weeks across various competitions (even though the wins are sometimes ugly/fortunate) - so basically they're showing they're not just a counter-attacking one-trick-pony.

That’s based on them having decent fixtures in the short term. I’d also consider West Ham defenders at that price point, but Arsenal’s fixtures for 17 and 18 swings it for me.

Usually don't look at this factor too much but with Spurs vs Fulham called off that does give Spurs a significant advantage in terms of rest, about 2 days more than Leeds. Useful for Son and Kane, who had been looking quite tired recently.
