Which option would you go for to have 8 players in BGW18 and save FH?

      A. Balbuena to Stones (-4) and 0.4itb for GW19
      B. Robbo to Stones (-4) and 3.3itb to have the possibility to bring back Salah for Son or Balbuena to Cresswell for GW19

      0FT 1.0itb
      Martinez* Johnstone
      Holding* Cancelo* Coufal Balbuena Robbo
      Son* Bruno* KDB* Soucek Raphinha

Quite stuck in terms of my next move. Have 2FT and 0m itb. Have 10 gw18 players but that includes Taylor and Burke

      Martinez — Forster
Cancelo Stones Taylor — Dallas Coufal
Kdb Bruno Salah Son — Burke
      DCL Watkins Bamford

A: Taylor >> Holding and ship out one of DCL or Son next gw to get 11 dgw players
B: Salah >> Grealish with the view to upgrade Son >> Salah next gw. Might also do Burke >> Soucek but would meaning benching stones
C: Salah >> Rashford but need to raise 0.5m (how?) to upgrade Son >> Salah next gw. Possibly Taylor > Mitchell next gw
      D: Something elese

GW 18 team, have 11 at the moment after 1 hit. (Taylor and Burke are obvious risks)

      Martinez
      Dier, Cancelo, Taylor
      Son, Kdb, Bruno, Saka, Burke
      Kane, DCL

Think its decent enough to save the FH.

Do FH transfers impact the players transfers?

      Thoughts on this FH team?

      Lloris
      Tierney - Cancelo - AWB
      KDB - Fernandes - Rodiguez - A Traore - Saka
      Kane - Lacazette

Fancy Traore to give Godfrey some problems and Rodriguez looked sharp coming on the other day.

Is a couple mil left over, but fo think FH isn't just spend as much as you can, it's who will be the top point scorers that week.

I do get what you mean tho, perhaps Rodriguez, Traore and Saka is too much

Yet people doubling Spurs so something doesn't add up, I guess it's just recency bias with Arsenal (replacing Villa in our teams) and a little bit of forcing yourselves into being different just because you play FH.

One of the reasons I have no Villa in my drafts is that game is difficult to call. I am looking at games and teams who I would for sure bet on to do well like City, Arsenal and United. Villa vs Spurs could go either way. I might still end up with Kane as there aren't my forwards available which I like for the GW.

I see your points on saving the FH for a rainy day, BUT:

Have we ever had a big BGW before with three big teams on form facing weak opposition!? Usually big blanks result in a low average (25-35p) but GW18 has some serious potential imo.

      3 x MCI (BHA)
      3 x ARS (CRY)
      3 x MUN (bur)

Add a Wilson vs Sheffield and a Son/Kane and you could be laughing. The rainy day might have come early this year!

You make a solid point to be fair. But does it always work out that way? CRY could trouble ARS and Burnley could limit the damage to MUN.

I have gone with the FH and went early pressing it too. Too many nay sayers out there telling you what to do.

It is the perfect time to use it if your team is a mess for GW 18 like mine was. 6 players with games which included Bissouma Taylor and Lamptey. Had to use it really but delighted I am to get a very good 11 out.

Nobody knows what the future holds and we can plan for the next GW the same way some people have planned for this one. Too much of 'my way is better than yours' on here.

The thing is most teams already have 2x City, 2x Utd, 2xSpurs. Not really counting Arsenal because theyve had a couple wins, I don't think Palace are a pushover and wouldnt be surprised to see them get a result in what is a Derby of sorts.

Picture a blank gameweek where all the big teams are blanking, which is quite a likely prospect in GW 29 as it will be teams that make FA cup QFs (likely city/ pool / spurs / utd etc). Sure that means it will probably be an overall low scoring gameweek with a poorer choice of players. But a free hit team vs and no free hit team has much more upside I believe in this situation. Imagine those who dont have a FH left, 29 comes around and theres no Salah / Bruno / KDB / Kane / Son, all of these big highly owned players are blanking. They have a choice, they can try and field a team of as many players by slowly transfering these players out OR they can ignore that and face the blanks. In the first situation they are severely damaging their team over several weeks, may not be able to afford those players back, and then have to get them back into their team over the next weeks again. In the 2nd situation they face a blank week with maybe only 4 or 5 players. A free hit team of 11 average players I believe is a huge advantage over a team with 7 blanks.

The difference with GW 18 is that those not using FH, majority have 8 players at least, and not 4 or 5. And this is because all the highly owned premium players are taking part in 18, therefore everyone has the same core premium template. So a free hit team is gaining only 2/3 extra players in this case, who are average players and punts. Theres not a huge upside there. What free hit team is going to go without KDB - Son - Bruno - Kane - City def? So those slots arent making any gains over non-FH teams

Most teams don't have 2x City, 2x Utd, 2xSpurs....a lot of teams got rid of City & Villa assets to plan for a DGW and prob only have Bruno Kane Son or 2 of the 3. Each to their own. No right or wrong answer really.

FH teams could be gold this week and FH teams down the road might end up with nowt. Who knows.

Ownership shows many teams have 1 city def, and KDB. By 18 many will have KDB who dont. Admitedly most teams only have 1 Utd, in Bruno. But alot are transferring in Rashford this week. And Kane and Son are in a vast amount of teams. The only teams who ditched city and Villa assets are those who WCed? Not actually a huge % as this website might make you believe everyone did. I have no idea otherwise why anyone would have been ditching Villa and City assets without waiting for the news on their postponed games.

If any free hit teams score well this week it will be from random punts like wilson or lacazette, but very few will nail this. I don't see much gain this week. If they score big and its because of Kane - Son - KDB - Bruno.. then they wont have made use of their FH because everyone already owns these players. Thats my point..

It's a fair point! Laca and Wilson sound bad on paper, but the context is important. Laca 4G in the last 3 and Wilson playing a Sheffield who look like they've given up under Wilder. The bigger differential I'm eyeing up though is Sterling with 5% ownership

You talk a lot of sense! One thing re BGW29, we should know who blank by the time we WC in 24/25. So bench can be filled with good cheapies for 29 making it easier to navigate. There's always a chance 1-2 of the big teams play too

Will be even out at the end of the season, nailing captaincy week in week out maybe more important.

Yeah this season has basically just been nailing the captain. If you get it right, it's a good green arrow, otherwise it's a red or very small green regardless of the rest of your squad.

GW14 I scored 70 points but captained Kane for a blank when Fernandes, Salah, KDB all scored and somehow 70 points only moved me from 1.08m to 10.5m!

This is what I'm weighing up. I've taken a -4 to bring in KDB and Stones, which gives me 8 players but only projected to score 43 points on RMT. Some of my FH drafts were projected around 62 points, so that's quite a big increase.

On the other hand, I quite like both KDB and Stones as long term options so wonder if it's worth saving the FH to lock them in before GW 19, rather than taking a hit in GW 19.

Thanks - yeah that was the intention of moving early this week to catch the price rise on KDB in particular. Means I can decide later on whether to FH or just to keep the team as it is and hope to ride it out.

I also think that the FFS/Twitter community will have lots of FHs played but it won't be anywhere near as high across other players - lots in my mini leagues already have 8-9 players for this week - so whilst there could be a lot of upside on the FH you might not get too left behind not playing it.

I agree! Not afraid of being left behind this gw, it just looks like a good gw to attack with so many low owned players. A bit scared of postponements tho if I field only 8 without

Yeah this is why I don't love a lot of the FH drafts going around which are basically just the usual template team but maybe with double City defence rather than one, and with Wilson up front.

If I free hit I'll probably go double Arsenal defence, KDB and Sterling, Lacazette etc and hope that the differentials come through.

Spend the hits now getting good players - who are also needed for gw19 and then 20 onwards
The next bgw is far more likely to involve players you only want for that one week

I already have 3 city which is main factor in not using the FH. They are by far the team most likely to punish you. I have Bruno for Man U, rashford is capable of a big score but also as likely to get 2pts. Not that fussed on their defence. Arsenal is a tricky one, def worth getting 3 on FH but that is all I am really missing on my current side with no hits so is it worth a FH purely for arsenal players this week? Not sure I trust them yet

I think you'd be expecting a cleansheet from Arsenal and maybe an attacking return from Saka/Lacazette - I see it as a 2-0 or 3-0 win.

Thing is, hardly anyone outside of those playing FH will have Arsenal players, so the downside exposure isn't huge.

Good point on low arsenal ownership. Would be happy to hold rank in next 2 which is a bit boring way of playing but would be in a great position with all my chips left

Yeah - it's a tough one. As much as I like the idea of attacking this week with the FH and trying to maximise just this week, personally I've always seen the FH chip as a 'get out of jail free' card to really save you when your team is completely done and you have like 4-5 players playing.

Yeah you'll be fine without Arsenal as low ownership and captaincy. That's what I like about FH too, a good opportunity to have 3 arsenal for 1 gw only

Not sure I want to put all my FH premium into 3 arsenal but can see the upside potential. I’ve got from attacking the blank/double with FH and BB to now using no chips - injuries and new fixtures in 18 has changed my mind on how to play chips

Arsenal players are cheap so you wouldn't be wasting premium spots. Quite easy to get three best options (Tierney, Saka and Laca) alongside KDB, Sterling, Bruno and Son in a 352

I just looked at my GW history to see when I first started playing FPL and it was 2006/2007.

Now there's bloody planners like in this article and nearly too much 'in your face' info.

Has it gone OTT? I don't enjoy it as much as I used to but always chip away. Not sure for much longer but we'll see.

Yeah back in the day all you needed was this site and you were set!

My first two seasons I came 300k, then I discovered FFS and jumped to 31k and then had four top 10k finishes in a row. It's much harder now.

        • 14 Years

That was my first season too. It can definitely be a bit overwhelming with the content at times now and it's certainly harder to get top 10k finishes now that there's so much information readily available.

The most disappointing change though is the attitude of the FPL community at times, especially on here, that is now much more gloating/trolling/getting angry with each other/not engaging with other posts/just doing RMTs.

Back in the day these forums were just full of people having friendly banter and trying to help each other out! For me that's been the biggest impact on the 'fun' aspect to FPL.

This is a good tool. Very Good.

If there was a tool to make me very Lucky and I had the Live FPL tool to start the season, I would be a top-10 player

      Un Lucky like....

I C on Salah vs WBA

I traded away Son cause Jose M said he was injured for weeks

I had Aubameyang to start the season (12.0M) ! Invested in a TURD!

I C on TAA vs Leeds (first game of the season)

Some might say, I lack IQ to have C on TAA in game-1, but at that time, he was still considered a top player and Liverpool had VVD, Gomez, Keita, and others all Healthy

UK people, I read that UK PM Boris Johnson has declared a new lockdown across England until at least mid-February similar to the first lockdown declared in March last year.

            So, PL is on pause?

Who shall I remove for Cancelo tonight?

            A) Ayling
            B) Balbuena

They'll be sat on my bench for GW19 anyway as I've decided against the BB and defence will be Cancelo Dias Robertson.

So I got rid of Salah last night for KDB I think many others did the same.

Are you going to ignore him or get him back next week?

Bring Salah back, but not for KDB, keeping both

Going Sterling to double up with KDB and upgrade Charlie Taylor to Cancelo.

Don't really need him anymore with Bruno, Kane, KDB as 3 solid captaincy choices

That’s true but because he’s owned by alot of people it will effect you and it is Salah at the end of the day

I can see why you’d ignore him for now especially with his fixtures

Spotted from Ffs Neale twitter account. Would be blessing if Leeds-Southampton moved to gw18.

Ben Crellin is running the numbers on it in a thread. TBH GW18 looks the most realistic of his 4 options.

Can't they just move it further down, removing the DGW for both the teams?

Both teams don't play in Europe. So would have plenty of options to fit the game in.

This is incorrect. The most realistic option is that they move the game into later DGWs. Moving a tie forward is much more difficult than the latter due to travel arrangements etc. Both Southampton and Leeds have no Europe so it's easy to do.

I doubt any already announced games will be moved. Especially with only a week remaining now.

Hope not - want people to use their FH etc. - Coufal would end up being my only player without a fixture
