The Fantasy Flutter: Betting odds on the midweek Premier League action 3

BE DE-SAISS-IVE

Romain Saïss‘ recent goal-scoring form could continue when Wolves host Everton on Tuesday evening.

Over the last four matches, the Toffees rank inside the bottom four for headed goal attempts conceded, which bodes well for the Moroccan centre-back.

During that same period, he ranks top among defenders for shots in the box and producing two goals in the process.

The fact that he is 22/1 to open the scoring at Molineux, or 9/1 to net anytime, is attractive indeed.

Meanwhile, if Richarlison can win his fitness race, his odds of 7/1 to get the first goal appeal too.

The return of Lucas Digne and James Rodríguez to Everton’s line-up, and absence of striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could ensure more high-quality service to Richarlison’s left-flank. Wolves have conceded 23 chances down the right-hand side over the last six matches, compared to just eight through the middle.

RASH DECISIONS

Marcus Rashford could benefit from Burnley’s own problems defending wide areas in Blank Gameweek 18.

The Clarets have conceded the second-highest number of chances down the right-hand side over the last four matches, somewhere Rashford could do damage at Turf Moor.

If Paul Pogba is unable to start Tuesday’s short road trip, the England international should reclaim his left-sided attacking midfield role, from which he has six goals and four assists away from home this season.

In fact, Rashford has no Premier League blanks on the road in 2020/21, which is why his first-scorer odds of 4/1 on Tuesday look good.

Each Way First Goalscorers

THE BIG GUNS

Ilkay Gündogan has been creeping under the radar in recent weeks, recording three goals in his last four Premier League appearances.

The two most recent of those have come in a more advanced role for Manchester City, which has helped him even outperform his esteemed colleagues Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling over the last four matches.

Despite playing marginally fewer minutes than both of them, the German international has a higher total for shots in the box and big chances.

That’s why Gündogan’s odds of 10/1 to be the first scorer at the Etihad Stadium are worth considering.

He has both the underlying statistics and the form to back up his appeal in a favourable home fixture – Brighton have just two clean sheets on the road this season.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United’s meeting with Newcastle is 6/1 for a 0-0 and Alexandre Lacazette, who has four goals in his last three, is 10/3 to open the scoring for Arsenal against Crystal Palace.

I think I've settled on my FH team...

    Darlow
    Cancelo Tierney Dier
KDB (C) Bruno Saka Rashford Gundogan
    Laca Kane

    Ramsdale Saiss Holgate Brewster

I could probably shift some bench money in to the starting 11, but nowhere I think I want to upgrade. Plus a playing bench might come in very handy.

0.2m short of getting Son over Rashford.

My other option was getting Son and Wilson over Saka and Kane.

True, but my only other options are DDG or Lloris really, neither of which I can afford without dropping value elsewhere....like the bench.

Chaps... conundrum here, probably matched up and down the land.

No brainer was to FH this week and BB next, but Leeds postponement is costing me 5 players a DGW.

I only have 5 players this GW, plus a FT. Those 5 are Stones, Bruno, Son, Neto, and Kane.

Is there an argument for using my FT this week, FH-ing next week instead?

    Squad is Martinez, Mccarthy
    Dallas, Stones, KWP, Coufal, Bernado
    Salah, Bruno, Son, Grealish, Neto
    Kane, Adams, Bamford

    Cheers

Which is better to get for Keeper and Defender?

    A- Lloris and Tierney
    B- Lloris and AWB
    C- DDG and Dier

    As non FHer my wishlist.

    SHU x Newcastle 1-0
    Burnley x Utd 1-3
    Wolves x Everton 1-1
    City x BHA 3-0
    Spurs x Fulham 3-1
    Arsenal x Palace 0-1

Less odds for that happening I suppose...

Can understand people wanting to get it over with, even if it means they'll have SGWers playing. Villa vs Everton postponement could be the final nail in the coffin though

Agreed, the BB is a burden sometimes. Takes so much planning and often the use of transfers in the GWs leading up is to the detriment of the team so it's more than just the BB score that needs to be factored in when working out how valuable the chip actually is

I had been planning to do it but will be waiting until the very last minute now. As it stands, I'm set up with 13 double week players but Leeds v Southampton moving would reduce that to 10.

Still lightly planning it, isn’t difficult to pull out and people have been saying for months how it’s important to have a decent bench

Emergence of the likes of smith Rowe have made it easier to do on WC

All said I’ll only have 12/13 dgw players rather than 15 but still enough for a BB if the coast looks clear

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I think with games getting called off late and potentially not knowing what players have tested positive it's a total lottery right now. But not a massive fan of the chip anyway so maybe better to get it out of the way! It's def not worth taking a -8 after folk have WC'd which I've seen a lot of

    I have two morning thoughts:

1/ Getting increasingly concerned with manutd attacking assets at burnley.
2/ The best way to differentiate against non FHitters is to get Laca or Auba, the latter holding pens being the ultimate differential

As a result i wonder if the combo Auba+wilson could be superior to Laca+Rash? What do you think?

Are there FH guys who are going without the son/Kane double up? If so what’s the thinking there?

Kane might be better than Son, yes.
Fulham will leave very little room to counter + Kane is on pens.

But both is a very logic choice, especially given Fulham's short turnaround fixturewise

    2. Blzbobuk
      • 5 Years

Not me I have both but some rationales on why it could work.
1 Son/Kane ownership is high so by avoiding if they blank and you deploy funds well you get a boost.
      2. Fulham are much improved
      3. Mourinho scores 1 and parks the bus
      4. You want to use the defensive spots eg Lloris and Dier
      5. You see better value elsewhere eg sterling auba Rash and need the cash

Would you use a free hit here?

Original plan was to do Balbuena > Stones and Salah > KDB for -4. Could take it to -8 by getting rid of Grealish or Bamford.

    Cancelo / Taylor*
    Son / Bruno / Saka
    Kane / Brewster

Remainder of squad: Martinez, Button, Bednarek, Justin, Balbuena, Salah, Grealish, Bamford

Same issue as me as discussed above.
I wouldn't remove Bamford (have him myself)
But Greal for -4 might be tempting if you find that would do the job for more than GW 18 only (removed him myself 2 weeks ago)

Grealish seems the obvious choice, though finding someone of that value who is worth the hit (and has a double next week) is tricky. I have thus far only come up with Gundogan, which means I will have to forego a second City defender.

Very tricky one. I am fairly dead set against using the free hit though!

How to improve this FH team guys considering AWB to Shaw which would leave me 0.8m to spend elsewhere (currently have 0.3m left)

    Ramsdale
    AWB, Stones, Tierney
    KDB, Fernandes, Son, Foden
    Kane, Lacazette, Martial

    Steele, Rowe-Smith, Mitchell, Douglas

Foden is the one I don't like, just feels an unnecessary risk for free hit. I'd rather have Cancelo in a 433 than Foden in a 442.

yeah Foden was the obvious one to me also - there is such a big gap to the top midfielders - the next one i like is Rashford 🙂

      Leno, Lloris, DDG

      Cancelo/Stones/Dias, Tierney/Holding, AWB, Dier, Fernandez.

      In no particular order

I assume you cannot see if your cup opponent has used a chip? Mine shows 1 transfer but that can be anything still?

Is Mitchell more likely to start than Kilman? Just trying to finalise bench.
