Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 19?

Fantasy Premier League managers are advised to target assets who play twice in the first Double Gameweek of the season when looking for their next captain.

With each of the current top four clubs, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester City, each playing twice during Double Gameweek 19, the most popular premium assets are leading the armband discussion.

As always, we have taken a look into the best options in great detail, using the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area to assess individual form and the state of their opponents’ defences.

CAPTAIN POLL

For the second week running, Manchester City’s maestro Kevin De Bruyne (£11.8m) leads the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll, this time with just over 37.0% of votes.

The Belgian shares the vast majority of votes with Mohamed Salah (£12.5m, 26.0%), who comes back into our consideration after missing out on a match in Blank Gameweek 18.

Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m, 7.0%), Jamie Vardy (£10.1m, 5.1%) and Tomas Soucek (£5.3m, 4%) complete this week’s top-five list.

In order to tackle this Double Gameweek captaincy debacle effectively, we will analyse Gameweek 19’s key teams and assets separately, as opposed to focusing on the key matches, as we usually do.

Lowton > Shaw for a hit would be a bad move, wouldn't it?
4 yellows are kinda puttin me off, especially as he will be against Salah in the first game

Any other 4.8 or cheaper defenders worth looking at this gw?

Lowton's to date on 3.4 points per match. I'd argue that he's unlikely to significantly outscore that away to West Ham & Liverpool, so 6.8 points total feels like a stretch, even if he plays both games. Son is on 7.9 points per match and is against Sheffield United.

It's so funny that each chip has different psychological misconceptions around it.

Wildcard - It's so valuable, you can't use it too early in case you waste it!
Reality - Most of us don't bother using the 2nd one until the end or waste it by trying to be too cute later in the season.

Triple Captain - There'll be a better time to use it!
Reality - Salah, the best player in the game and a monster at home, has 2 games at home including one at Burnley. He has had extended rest. Nah, not good enough...

Bench Boost - I gotta use it now to get it out of the way!
Reality - Bench boosting a team full of SGW players they could do at any other point in the season.

Free Hit - It can be used to make an INSANE team in a DGW why would you use it on a low scoring blank week?
Reality - Most FH19 planners have realized that most teams already have very strong teams for this week and a FH would barely get them any good differentials.

Yes. Remember that transfers should also have the future in mind. This is ultimately what swayed me to do Adams > Antonio (WHU have good fixtures until 25)

KdB has wba SHU bur after GW19.

    5. Amey
      • 5 Years

TC is a joke of a chip. Luck factor is too much.

Salah may have 2 home games and monster. But the monster has not scored for last 3 games. So calling out people who don't wanna TC Salah is not for me. I'm not even © him this GW

My point though is that this is an opportunity. You can pass if you don't like it, but the misconception with the TC is that you always think that they'll be a better time later to use it.

I like this season though because people are undecided on optimal chip strategy.

Last year everyone played exactly the same.

TC Salah or Mane in GW24. BB in GW26 after the lockdown with the free wildcard. FH the blank GW (forgot which one... 33?)

Maybe but CL will factor in later. Salah rested and 2 home games where Pool are so good. Yep he is out of form but the other day Laca had 3 biggish hauls before his blank. We all know its a lot of guesswork but as you say TC is a tricky one and I think this might be the right time personally

Do you have any other City defense?

If you have Stones for example, he's pretty nailed with a low ceiling, so you could risk the rotation/higher ceiling of Cancelo.

If its your only City defense, you just want to cover it safely, so I'd go Dias.

At least that's how I'd look at it.

Find it strange KDB so highly backed. Looks shattered, no open play goals, City playing 2 solid defensive teams that they tend to struggle with, Pep tons of options.

Salah and Pool rested, unreal home record, will be busting a gut to beat United and Burnley usually get turned over by the bigger boys.

Agree with "that they tend to struggle with", but KDB got 2/4 10+ scores vs Burnley and Fulham. "Burnley usually get turned over by the bigger boys" - they did well against league leaders Manchester United a few days ago, Salah blanked last time they met in PL.

And this is the post I’ve been looking for to justify what I want to to do and TC Salah so thank you. Also can’t see him blanking in 4 games straight.
