Replacements needed for De Bruyne and Vardy in wake of long-term injuries

A large number of Fantasy Premier League managers now have big transfer decisions to make ahead of Gameweek 20.

In the build-up to the FA Cup fourth round, Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) and Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) were both ruled out for several weeks.

The Belgian came off with a suspected muscle problem in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Guardiola has now confirmed that De Bruyne will miss the next four to six weeks as he recovers from a hamstring issue.

Meanwhile, Vardy has been dealing with pain from a hernia in recent weeks and Brendan Rodgers has seen fit to get him under the surgeon’s knife to correct the problem.

That has ruled him out for “a few weeks” just as Fantasy managers were considering investment in light of Leicester’s appealing short-term fixtures.

With some managers facing two high-profile absentees in the coming weeks, the number of hits for Gameweek 20 is likely to increase.

This is also the sort of development that could tempt some into deploying the Wildcard.

Either way, the Season Ticker and other Members Area tools are sure to help anyone struggling in light of this news.

    Robertson to Dias/Cancelo for free was my pencilled in transfer this week. With the Vardy news do I add Vardy to Kane for a hit? Or wait until next week and play Adams/Soucek? Not sure I want 3 attackers in the Spurs-Pool game.

    1 FT 0 ITB

    McCarthy (Johnstone)
    Robbo Justin Coufal Stones (Lowton)
    Salah Bruno Son Raphinha (Soucek)
    Adams Bamford (Vardy*)

      Stick with your plan to swap out Robinson
      Kane may rise in price & Vardy fall, but I doubt you’ll get you 4 point hit back - current player more than likely to return points, plus good to be patient & see if other injuries/ fixture cancellations

      No disrespect, but with that team yes. Think what you could do with the funds. I did it so I can do Cavani>Kane next week.

            I got the second part. But he also said 'No disrespect, but with that team, yes' impying the team isn't good?. That is a pretty solid team with a good bench ad players with potential DGW in the future.

            He had 4 premium mids. Of course he wasn't going to be able to fit a premium striker in.

          Then you can make the move.
          City struggled to score more than 2 goals with KdB in the side. I would just want to see how they play with him out to see before picking someone. Sterling and Foden are good picks for me as well. So, I want to see if they play just as good or worse without KdB.

    I am on -4 (don´t ask why) already and I have to replace Kdb so that will give me a -8 for sure, probably going for Madd or Grealish

    I also wish I had Antonio who is going up in price and also I would like replace Soucek with Smith Rowe so I can alternate Antonio, Bamford and ESR always benching one of them.

    That would be a -16 to do all I want... Should I use my WC?

    Martinez - Steer
    Dias - Stones - Coufal - Holding - Mitchell
    Salah - Kdb* - Bruno - Rashford - Soucek
    Kane - Bamford - Brewster

    Ayling -> Mitchell (done)
    Dallas -> Stones (done)
    Kdb -> Maddison -8
    Soucek -> ESR -12
    Brewster -> Antonio -16

    WC?

    Anyone know what the highest price ever a player has been on FPL? Had a Google search and saw a few comments saying Ronaldo, Henry and RVP were 14 at different points but I'm wondering what the highest any player has gotten to is. I'm guessing it has to be Ronaldo anyway but can't imagine Henry would be far behind

        Not so much I want rid of Holding, I want triple city defense for their next three. It was my intended transfer before KDB and Vardy were ruled out.

        Can see Arsenal conceding to Southampton, particularly at St Mary's.

          4 points saved could help your rank this GW, the next GW just a few days later. There'll be a lot of post-BB, KDB injury, Vardy injury, Salah out of form, hits taken.

            Yeah, thats probably the more rational/sensible play.

            I've made some good ground in mini leagues taking hits the past few weeks/months. I've perhaps become too comfortable with them.

      Are you really gaining from the extra hit this week? Holding willl most probably get 2 and Dias will most probably get 6. The only way you will gain, is if Dias gets bonus, which to be fair is possible if CIty don't run riot. But even then, I wouldn't take the risk to gain 1/2 points.

      I’m thinking the same. Keeper and two centre backs safest options

      I don't think he starts next game. I guess he'll get the Liverpool game at the weekend and then Martial-Rash-Greenwood vs Sheffield. Ole tried to early balls over the top vs Sheffield last month. If he tries the same, he will go for the 3 with more pace.

      Cavani will always be a risk for me unless one of Martial/Greenwood is out.

    Any Leicester fans about? What formation are Leicester likely to use with no Vardy? Normally it's a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 right but will they go lone striker if Iheanacho or Perez come in?

    Priority
    1) kane (343)
    2) Son (352)

      I always prefer Kane.

      Saying this as I sold him in DGW but I want him back soon. KdB out allows me that. So, I will probably double post the Chelsea game.

        Yes planning to get both
        Could do kdb + Brewster to Maddison + kane(-4)

      I prefer Kane. Especially with Vardy out, not alot of FWD options

      Against Liverpool I'd pick Son but long term it's Kane.

    Vardy news is annoying but maybe Vardy/Soucek to Ings/Maddison for a hit could be good.

    If we don't have Son or Kane already, is KDB to Son better than KDB to Gundo/Saka with a mind to upgrade a forward to Kane next week?

    Should I wildcard?

    Current team----
    Martinez (Button)
    Cancelo Coufal Dallas (KWP Douglas)
    KDB* Bruno Salah Grealish Soucek
    Bamford Kane (Brewster)
    0.7 mil in the bank.

      If same cost I'd probably rather Martial. Given the price difference give me Antonio.

      Just do one half of it this week, one the next week. Unlikely the -4 pays off right away.
