Replacements needed for De Bruyne and Vardy in wake of long-term injuries

A large number of Fantasy Premier League managers now have big transfer decisions to make ahead of Gameweek 20.

In the build-up to the FA Cup fourth round, Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) and Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) were both ruled out for several weeks.

The Belgian came off with a suspected muscle problem in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Guardiola has now confirmed that De Bruyne will miss the next four to six weeks as he recovers from a hamstring issue.

Meanwhile, Vardy has been dealing with pain from a hernia in recent weeks and Brendan Rodgers has seen fit to get him under the surgeon’s knife to correct the problem.

That has ruled him out for “a few weeks” just as Fantasy managers were considering investment in light of Leicester’s appealing short-term fixtures.

With some managers facing two high-profile absentees in the coming weeks, the number of hits for Gameweek 20 is likely to increase.

This is also the sort of development that could tempt some into deploying the Wildcard.

Either way, the Season Ticker and other Members Area tools are sure to help anyone struggling in light of this news.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but no pressing issues besides Salah's poor form. Is anyone thinking of dumping him? I have a feeling I would regret it if I did, but just wondering what players people are even considering bringing in for him. Already have bruno and son in midfield.

You could go with the same players people are getting in for KdB,

But the thing is, a lot of people have KDB, so removing him will be the main priority. So, Salah will stay at least for 1/2 weeks. If he gets going anf you've reshuffled your funds, it might be tough to get him back. So, there's that risk.

Spurs and West Ham are the 2 games I would give him. If he scores, he stays, otherwise, he is out for the City and Leicester games. Can get him back when I WC after that.

I think you have to keep.

Especially as kdb is out for city. I imagine you have bruno and son already.

Those witb kdb vardy or both are sinking much faster than salah owners

This Kdb injury messed up my plans for getting Robertson out for a cheaper defender so I can get Son and Kane in :/. Oh well.. This season has been weird and unpredictable to say the least.

I'm still doing TAA + KdB to Cancelo + midfieder.

It's tough with Roberston though. He's looked better of the two. I would hold for this week and assess. If Liverpool find their mojo back with wins vs United (in the cup) and Spurs, Robbo can be a good differential. Just get Son for KdB.

Love it. Can't really fault anything.

Grealish 4yc is a worry and maybe lack of Son. But you can't have them all. And if I had to pick between Son/Kane, I would pick Kane as well. Many good options available in midfield. But not that many consistent strikers available, espeically with Vardy out.

I’m going to wait to make my moves but considering a -4 to replace KdB and double up on City defence.

    Which do you think?

    A) KDB + Zouma > Sterling + Cancelo (-4)
    B) KDB + Zouma > Gundogan + Cancelo (-4, leaving funds to bring in Kane next week)

    1FT 0.2ITB

A, especially if Soton lose to Arsenal in the cup and get DGW23.

Cancelo starts 95%? Thinking capping him. Thoughts?

I have him and Gundo and my hope is he takes Gundos place while Gundo is pushed up to KDBs position.

Worth a punt. Not like any of the big hitters are ripping it up right now (maybe still kane , bruno)

Good punt. But with Spurs facing Liverpool and KdB out, Bruno is going to be captained by pretty much everyone who owns him. So, I feel this is not the week to punt.

Having said that, with PP in the team, Bruno's output has reduced and he may not hurt as much.

            Martinez
            Robbo Dias Coufal
            Salah KDB Raphina Bruno
            Bamford Werner Watkins

Would you do KDB Zouma to Son Cancelo -4?

Everyone getting Kane/Son in before they play Liverpool. Would say "how the mighty have fallen" but one season wonders can hardly be called mighty...

Going to remove KdB for some mid for sure. Not which. It's between City mids and Maddison/Barnes. Have Salah, Bruno and Son already.

Worth doing TAA to Cancelo for a hit? I own Dias. Also, would it be better to get Stones if it lets you strenghten the bench? I look at Cancelo and it looks like he could get a 20 pointer every week but he's got just 1 assist so far.

My bench is as week as it gets. Forster (but he's second choice. So if for any case the McCarthy misses, he will still play but no GK if Southampton game gets postponed), Alioski (risk to go out of the team?), Ferguson (Don't ask why. Worst decision to of my FPL career to stick with him instead of getting Mitchell when I WC) and Brewster (the definition of a 1 pointer).

If I go for anyone apart from Sterling (very unlikely), I will have funds to strengthen the bench anyway though. So, yeah! I guess pretty much answered my second question but thoughts appreciated on whether it's worth taking an extra hit for TAA to City defender.

tldr; TAA to Cancelo worth a hit if I am already replacing KdB with my FT.

I'd wait and see what kind of nature is Walker's injury. If it's long term, get Cancelo. With the rest, strengthen that bench. But yeah, I'd take a hit for a City def.

Cancelo in for a hit yes. Cancelo + Dias is the best def double up.

For the KDB. I think its between, Barnes, Gundo and maybe Sterling.
              Hard call.

Not sure why you'd take a hit, just wait a week surely?
