Using FFS data and tools to find the best De Bruyne replacement for Gameweek 20

Just when Fantasy Premier League managers thought they could breathe and relax after Double Gameweek 19, many of us now have injury problems to solve.

Ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) has been ruled out for “four to six weeks” with a muscular injury and needs replacing.

When these sorts of developments occur, there is a fantastic opportunity for Fantasy managers. With everyone going in a different direction from a common player all at once, the potential for green arrows goes up – if you can make the right choice. And, because Gameweeks 20 to 23 take place in a span of 14 days, the FPL landscape is going to change very quickly.

Accordingly, I have gone over some De Bruyne replacements to help you make the right choice ahead of Gameweek 20. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

I think I'm benching Robbo - my logic is that with no Kane or Son this week, even if he does get a CS on bench it's a great result for me

Bench of Robbo, James, Soucek feels annaturally strong!

Maybe Foden due to possible benching after 90 mins in the cup game but that is ridiculous having to pick 1 from that! Downgrade someone to remove benching headache is another option

    Bench 2 for this week:

    A. Chillwell (WOL)
    B. TAA (@TOT)
    C. Alioski (@NEW)
    D. Digne (LEI)
    E. Mahrez (@WBA)
    F. Zaha (WHU)
    G. Neto (@CHE)
    H. Pulisic (WOL)
    I. Watkins (@BUR)

wouldn't get rid of Grealish - great run of fixtures and 2 DGW's to come in addition to the usual GW26

Remove Vardy, don't get rid of Grealish. With a new manager Zouma could be an option again, same goes with Mount, so I'd wait a week for hinm too. Ditch Tierney and Chelsea boys (if they don't play) with FTs or take a hit in the next few GWs.

    Hi Mate !

    2 FT, 0.4 ITB

    Martinez
    Jones, Konsa, Justin
    Son, Fernandes, Grealish, KdB
    Bamford, Kane, Wilson

    Sub : KWP, Mitchell, Soucek

    A) KdB > Salah, Gundo, Sterling or Zaha ?
    B) KWP > Shaw, Dallas, Coufal or Creswell ?
    C) Wilson > Antonio or DCL ?

Note that if I want to take Salah, I have to change Soucek with ESR for economic reason

    AB, AC,BC or ABC (-4) ?

Plus good fixtures for a lot of the teams people have budget players from (Leeds, West Ham, Villa)... and also Spurs vs Liverpool brings in the possibility of benching players you wouldn't ordinarily consider benching.

Whats your logic on playing James? I guess there's a chance he's 90/0 mins wise

Currently need to play one of Coufal, Robbo & James myself and on that order. Worry that James may get a cameo and happy to bench Robbo when I don't own Spurs attack

That's what I'm thinking: he'll be 90 mins or nothing. And Wolves don't look good at the moment.

Probably my least secure slot in the squad. Might buckle and bring Robertson in instead.

I think I'd play Coufal in your situation.

Hopefully this doesn't get too lost. I think a lot of us are in the same boat this week, I've got a serious benching headache. Can anyone advise on which three to bench?

    Ederson
    Dias, Pieters, Zouma, Lindelof, Holding
    Son, Bruno, Salah, Saka, Soucek
    DCL, Antonio, Bamford

It's really between Zouma, Lindelof, Holding, Pieters, Saka and Soucek.

I've currently benched Zouma, Soucek and Pieters. Not sure about the Arsenal boys.

You think Son (vs Liverpool) can outscore Gundo (vs WBA) this GW? I can still bring in Son in 21 if I go with Gundo this GW

I brought in Gundo for KDB but I owned Son, however if I didn't own Son, he would have been my replacement. Gundo might not be a good option in 2 weeks but he also could be, we'll just have to see. But Son you'll definitely want long term.

      • 7 Years

The case for Gundo aside from form is that WBA have conceded over 40 goals already this season. They obviously then play Sheffield united...

Liverpool's defence is shakey but they have still concede half the goals (22). That said, Son is arguably at his best against a decent team where there's space in behind.

It's basically a case of picking the fixtures (Gundo), or picking a cross between a classier player (Son), combined with [controversially] good fixtures

      Cresswell. Palace are useless offensively.

The BB has got to be the worst of the chips. It just wrecks your entire squad structure. So many benching headaches on here following a good BB set-up the previous week. Unless it coincides with a WC the week after (which is not always the best tactic) it does more bad than good in some cases.

True... although the caveat to that is: there have been worse seasons to have a benching dilemma. A strong bench is no bad thing right now.

True, I agree. Some benches on here though are immense!

Just play it pragmatically when you have 3 or 4 likely starters.

Wouldn't worry so much about doubles because if one of your players doesn't play they'd come in without BB anyhow.

      A) Mane to Son (have no Spurs but have Salah and Robbo)
      B) Mane to Gundogan (get Son next week before Brighton, for Soucek)
      C) Save and give Mane one last game

Sry, did reply here...BB is fine, not the end of the world to have good playing bench when there is rotation and rest. Do you still have second Wildcard, can always fix bench in a few weeks, 24/25 prepare for DGW26.

Not to worry mate. I think C for now and change to Son next week.

I didn't BB and still have the chip intact with the idea to use it in 26. Just think for some users on here it may have caused more headaches than it did good! Will probably WC out of my BB squad after 26 myself. GL mate!

You're not wrong but some will feel the 20-30 pts they got from their BB last GW makes up for that
