Mitchell and van Aanholt start together for Palace side missing injured Zaha

Gameweek 23 comes to a conclusion at a wintry Elland Road this evening as Leeds United take on Crystal Palace.

Kick-off is at 20:00 GMT.

Patrick Bamford (£6.7m) carries the hopes of almost 50% of Fantasy managers this evening, having seen his ownership swell even further in the last Gameweek: just under 250,000 FPL bosses transferred in the striker ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Bamford’s ownership is up around the 85% mark in the top 10k, with Stuart Dallas (£4.8m) also widely owned among this elite group: the Northern Ireland international sits in over one in three of these squads.

As we’ve become accustomed to seeing this season, Leeds are unchanged from their previous game.

There is no Pablo Hernandez (£5.7m) among the substitutes, however, with the veteran playmaker missing out through injury.

The Palace team news is more noteworthy, with Roy Hodgson opting to field Tyrick Mitchell (£3.9m) and Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) in the same side.

One of them, likely van Aanholt, will presumably be playing ‘out of position’ further up the left flank.

Hodgson also hands Jean-Philippe Mateta (£5.9m) his debut, with Michy Batshuayi (£5.7m) only on the bench and Wilfried Zaha (£7.2m) absent because of a hamstring problem.

Mitchell and Leeds’ Pascal Struijk (£3.9m) are two of the three cheapest starters of Gameweek 23, with the latter making his eighth successive Bielsa line-up in the Premier League.

The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 4-1 win for Palace, a match in which Eberechi Eze (£5.8m) registered his highest FPL score of the season.

Leeds United XI: Meslier, Ayling, Cooper, Struijk, Alioski, Dallas, Klich, Phillips, Harrison, Raphinha, Bamford.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Van Aanholt, Cahill, Dann, Clyne, Mitchell, Milivojevic, Riedewald, Eze, Mateta, Ayew.

Anyone else had a terrible season but actually taking some enjoyment from it?

Its definitely going to be my worst ever OR when the curtain closes, but its been great fun trying to think my way out of a black hole this year

Started badly, wildcarded in GW2 and sold all the good players i had - brutally punished (by Son in particular with his 4 goals) so nearly 5 millionth by GW3.

By gameweek 9 i was still around 4 millionth 😀

Gameweek 16, i was down to about 2.8 million - missed a few deadlines through some half arsedness and almost given up. Bottom of all the mini leagues i used to win... Just took a step back and stopped thinking too much about the game during this part of the season

Nothing to play for, but somehow having a great run of it since - lots of greens (easy when you've got a pack of about 3 million to chase down!) and its great seeing the team climb up through mini leagues

tonight i'll be ranked 1,002,292 with 2 free transfers, 5 DGW players and a bench boost to activate. Breaching the 1 million mark will feel epic 🙂

Same start, was ranked 2.5 in gw 17, wildcarded into 18 and gone up to 400k since but hit a wall now!

think the kane/Mane injury and general easy form picks led to a big drop in squad diversity over the past few weeks so has been all about the © pick

DGW season now though mate, will be plenty of room for movers and shakers, people will reshuffle the pack, wildcards a plenty, could see your luck come back around 🙂

Well, pretty similar story here, this week is red arrow after five greens. Last year was much more fun trying to fight my way to top 10k tbh. I don't know what is realistic this season, but I will try to beat Lateriser 😉

had a few tussles for top 10K in the past but you need to be on it every week - i kinda like the fact i can wake up, realise i missed a deadline and this 'ah well' and get on with my day.

        Hows the mighty Lateriser doing?

Nice one. I've just been floating round the 100k mark all season and am finding it a bit of a slog tbh. Got blindsided by that double gameweek when everyone was racking up 100+ scores (and the rest) as I only got 60 odd and plunged about 300k places. Thing I'm actually enjoying most from it though is probably the variation in chip strategy, it's so team specific rather than just plug and play one of the scenarios laid out before you like it is most seasons (with all chips saved until the last 5 or 6 weeks).

i think you've hit the nail on the head there mate, i find the progress more enjoyable than the OR...

        Going from 5K -> 10K feels terrible
Going from 5 Mil to 1 mil feels awesome

Varied chip strat definitely an unexpected bonus from this season, as you say, it feels much less scripted and more like you have genuine choices. Also helps that by missing my intended triple C deadline didn't render it useless with so many more DGW to use it

Great story. Mines very similar. Started the season with an auto select team as I was way too busy for FPL and then wold carded like you in the second week. Was around 5.5m rank and my luck was so awful I was the laughing stock of our WhatsApp group. Everyone I bought would just get injured, sometimes in the warm up to a game. I think I got in 4 defenders at 1 point and they all got injured and the teams kept clean sheets. But I wild carded again as soon as it was available and have jumped from 2.5m rank game week 18 to 450k now.

It's my initial idea for this week. Sadly, for a hit. I wasted my second transfer on Bamford, who I actually didn't need at all.

  6. SomeoneKnows

Which would you rather have for DGW24 if the plan is to BB?

    A) Digne (-4)
    B) Lowton

    Pope, Martinez
    Cancelo, Stones, XXX, Coufal, Dallas
    Salah, Bruno, Son, Gundogan, Grealish
    DCL, Bamford, Antonio

    * The -4 is actually for reversing the transfer in order to get Kane for GW26

    1. Subzero (-4)

Digne has the bigger ceiling! Spreading the risk as well avoiding the Burnley double up. Lowten offers nothing going forward and Digne could easily grab a couple of assists

      1. SomeoneKnows
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 2 months ago

Thanks, bear in mind however that even if I bring Digne it'll just be for GW24 and perhaps GW25...

I'll need to sell him if I want Kane for GW26

B, I actually think the ceiling is pretty similar as Lowton could easily get a 12 pointer

Where's the button to mute the word "ceiling" on here?

So, allowing for those who have doubles, Bruno, Salah & those who are playing SHU, which 3 to bench from these please?

1 Bobby Deco-Reid (has a double, but was really only ever a bench player)
    2 Son away at City
    3 Bamford away at Arsenal
    4 Justin home to Liverpool
    5 Targett at Brighton

I’ve left 227 points on my bench so far this season ... but I always play with a reasonably strong 15 ... but fantasy football is a love/hate pastime .... I left DCL on my bench this week but I just have to roll with the self inflicted punches.

After Soucek RC, failed Antonio(C) and DCL points on the bench, second red arrow -16% in 17 GWs (first was BGW18 with 7 players).

Onwards and upwards to multiple DGWs!

Guys I am seriously considering going 5 at the back post WC.

I mean there are so many stellar options atm.

Then there are the City defenders .

    Wan Bisaka and Shaw

    Alonso (wow) and Rudiger

Tough call as team looks great.
Look through the future gameweeks and see when you’ll ever actually start Coufal.
If you can’t see yourself starting, maybe upgrade (even if it’s just to Cresswell!).
Leave enough to do Antonio to Kane.

Does it feel to anyone else that we are all kind of ‘stuck’ at our current ranks for the time being? (hopefully the upcoming doubles cause some movement)

Currently feels like only way to make progress are:

    - regularly get captaincy ‘right’ (highly luck based)
    - have a defender get a ‘mega haul’ (highly luck based)

Agree with the captaincy. Vital to get the right for a green arrow. For a defender haul, it's only a small number of defenders that fall under that category; Justin, Dallas and maybe Cresswell

Have been for ages (10 captain blanks in 11 weeks never helps). Except the massive red arrow from the first dgw which has taken me about 6 weeks to get back to where I was. Still got all chips to unleash so confident of a boost at some point.

I knew as soon as I get a sniff of top 10k, I would start yo-yoing around that mark and I after not having a bad gw for a long time, I now have two in the last three. Captaincy was the issue.

Yep. 15 weeks stuck between 100k and 300k.

Was on an upward curve when last dgw set me back 100k, and only just recovered.

Chris Coleman on MNF being paid to talk about Justin, and just had to ask the host if his first name was James.

Depends who's playing. could be as few as 3 very uninspiring fixtures. Free hit in a double may be the way to go.

Free hitting into 6 teams and clean sheets or some returns is better than a whole load of blanks.

Guess it will be down to captain pick 🙂

Hmm, definitely a lot to think about. Already have tripple MCI, just fancied punting on tripple Everton and maybe Burnley...

I could have this benchboost for this week for -4. Not sure it’s worth it though. Don’t like a forward v defender set up. Views.
