Who are the best Burnley players to own for FPL Double Gameweek 24?

Fantasy Premier League managers are considering Burnley players for Double Gameweek 24.

The Clarets face two favourable fixtures against Crystal Palace (away) and Fulham (home) but are they worthy of a mass investment?

How many Burnley assets are too many and which ones should we own? That’s what we’re here to help you with.

After running a data dive on the recent 1-1 draw with Brighton, we have analysed the full capabilities of Sean Dyche’s men at both ends of the pitch in Double Gameweek 24.

THE FORM

Having started 2020/21 in uncharacteristically lethargic spirits, Burnley have embarked on a solid, if unspectacular run, to steer themselves away from the danger zone of late.

They collected 17 of their 23 points over the last 12 matches which included morale-boosting wins at Arsenal (Gameweek 12), home victories over Wolves (Gameweek 14), Sheffield United (Gameweek 16) and Aston Villa (Gameweek 20).

And, of course, their hard work at Anfield in Double Gameweek 19 helped Dyche’s men become the first visiting team to win a Premier League match there since April 2017.

Still, even though the points are flowing more freely these days, one common theme has underpinned the Clarets’ matches this season: lack of goals.

Despite sitting one place above the bottom three, only eight Premier League clubs have conceded fewer times than Burnley this season.

Double Gameweek 24 teams: Fulham - best FPL players, form, fixtures and XXX

Intriguingly, their total of 29 goals shipped is level with Liverpool while second-placed Manchester United (30) and tenth-placed Leeds (38) have both been breached more times than Dyche’s men this season.

The reason for Burnley’s poor performance in the league table despite these hardly relegation-form defensive numbers is, of course, their troubles in front of goal.

After 23 Gameweeks, no team has scored fewer goals than the Clarets (14). Sheffield United have 15 strikes from one extra match, meaning both clubs sit bottom of the league for 0.6 goals per game.

The formbook has not seen much improvement in this area, despite Burnley’s increased number of points.

Over the last 12 matches, their total of nine goals is the second-lowest in the division behind only Fulham (six).

But continuing with their theme, only Manchester City (three), Arsenal (nine) and Leicester (10) have a better defensive record during that time.

Im not 100% decided on this yet, but depedning on how the fixtures play out for GW26, i'm tempted to use FT'sand maybe a hit to get myself sorted for GW26. Would then TC in GW 26 and use FT's to get myself ready for BGW and then WC for GW30 (bench boost after that, of course)

i think ill be likely to have dallas, bamford and coufal still in my team for GW29, so if i can 3 or maybe 4 more players form the slim pickings on offer to that trio for GW29, i think it makse sense to save WC for 30 to set myself for a final sprint

Same here. Planning to WC 30 for the run-in, but if there are teams who double in 26 and play 29 (possibly Villa and/or Spurs), I'm looking at WC 25 or 26 (depending on when I want to TC) since I can more easily navigate 29 in that case.

I would have thought FH 29 is likely most sensible given the likely blanks and teams involved. BB probably 26 for the big double as not well set up for this week.

Second WC maybe after the League cup final when City and Spurs blank, could dead end your team for that and then start the following week with all city and spurs back in, may also be a couple of fictures outstanding to target (spurs/Villa?)

Popular chip strategy is WC25, BB DGW26.
It's likely to be the biggest DGW of the season, so logically BB makes sense.
Plan for BGW29 with free transfers.

Alternatively use transfers for BB DGW26 if the fixtures fall nicely for your squad with doubles & save wildcard for GW30.

Likely lower half teams will play BGW29, you may not want players in for the final 9 games of the season from Sheff, Brighton, etc.

Steer to Pope if you plan to wildcard GW25 would give you another DGW player. Although if wildcarding you may want s more exciting 1 week punt.

      Hope that helps mate. 🙂

Rumours W.Ham could have 3 CHs out.
Ogbonna went off injured. Balbuena felt a tight hamstring in the warm up & why he didn't come on. Concussion for 3rd CH so protocol 10 days possibly?
Antonio & Yarmelenko could both be out too.

Nothing official but I'm guessing those injuries may influence your decision.

Very on-topic for this article. Talksport interview with Sean Dyche:

    https://youtu.be/Hc7ls5GS7kU

At 03:09, Dyche is talking about injuries:

"Last night we were missing Pope & Cork who will hopefully be alright but had to miss that game."

Then goes on to list who is still out (Taylor is included in that list of players.)

Son has gotten a bunch of assists from corners this season. An underrated part of his game. I know I always think of him as an open-play only sort of attacker since he has no pens but his corners have been put in quite often this season.

Chilwell must be a gonner under tuchel, right? Dropped for the first two games where they had cleansheets. Returned "because 3 games in 10 days for alonso might be too much" against Sheffield utd. Conceded AND replaced by alonso after about 60mins.

That all seems obvious that he is second choice from now on.

Now that we've seen a few games, yes it does feel like he's currently fallen behind Alonso in the pecking order.

The Sheffield United match has not quite solidified, but tipped me over the scale a little. Chilwell has now been subbed for Alonso twice.

It feel clearer that Tuchel prefers Alonso in that wing-back role. Not overly surprising as Alonso is a good wing-back, and Chilwell is not (wasn't great in this position at Leicester either). Not to day Chilwell is a bad player - the position just suits him less. Alonso gets in the box a lot more.

Another aspect that favours Alonso is his aerial ability. Again Chilwell is not bad at this - Alonso just has more presence.

On top of this, Alonso has genuinely played pretty decently.

Wouldn't say anything is written in stone, and they'll be rotation - but agree he's looking more of a first choice option currently.

6m for a rotation risk defender in a slightly dodgy defence, in a team that don't score many goals is madness
