The expected fixtures and postponements for FPL Blank Gameweek 29

The FA Cup fifth round came to a conclusion on Thursday evening, with Southampton and Chelsea progressing to the last eight of the competition.

The quarter-finals of the FA Cup are set to be staged on the same weekend as Gameweek 29 and there are seven Premier League matches that will be affected by the cup ties.

All of them are expected to be postponed given that an international break follows immediately after the weekend in question.

The fixtures are:

  • Burnley v Leicester City
  • Crystal Palace v Manchester United
  • Liverpool v Chelsea
  • Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Sheffield United v Aston Villa
  • Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton
  • West Bromwich Albion v Everton

That leaves just three top-flight games unaffected by the results of this week’s FA Cup ties.

Barring inclement weather or a COVID outbreak, these matches will go ahead as planned in Gameweek 29:

  • Brighton and Hove Albion v Newcastle United
  • Fulham v Leeds United
  • West Ham United v Arsenal

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

(Click above to expand image)

New dates are awaited for the Gameweek 29 fixtures that are set to be postponed, with four other outstanding matches (Aston Villa v Spurs from Gameweek 18, Aston Villa v Everton from Gameweek 19, Manchester City v Southampton from Gameweek 33 and Fulham v Spurs from Gameweek 33) also still yet to be rearranged.

An announcement from the Premier League could come very soon, given that Gameweek 26 – and its free midweek – is expected to absorb a large chunk of these 11 games currently in the ether.

Aston Villa v Spurs may, in theory, move to Blank Gameweek 29 to increase the number of Premier League fixtures that weekend to four.

Both clubs have been eliminated from the FA Cup and their scheduled Premier League games on the weekend of March 20/21 look set to be postponed.

EARLY THOUGHTS ON BLANK GAMEWEEK 29

Bamford and Raphinha star in audition for Double Gameweek 25 3

Should all of the above pan out as expected – and we are still yet to hear confirmation from the Premier League – then there will be a very small pool of players to choose from in Blank Gameweek 29 whether using the Free Hit chip or otherwise.

Fulham and Leeds have Double Gameweeks before then (the Cottagers in Gameweek 24, the Whites in Gameweek 25), so anyone stocking up on the likes of Patrick Bamford (£6.7m), Raphinha (£5.3m), Stuart Dallas (£4.8m), Alphonse Areola (£4.5m) and Ademola Lookman (£5.0m) will already have a head start in preparing for Gameweek 29.

As will those who own Tomas Soucek (£5.4m), Michail Antonio (£6.7m) et al, although the flip side of being well set for Gameweek 29 without using a Free Hit chip is that it will impact on the ability to maximise returns from the expected Double Gameweek 26, when the likes of West Ham and Leeds will only have one fixture.

Should Aston Villa v Spurs get moved to Blank Gameweek 29, however, then that could significantly aid preparations on both fronts.

Is it a waste to use a BB GW26 with a non-playing GK. Still torn on whether to move Forster to Pope, or roll my 2nd FT

Ideally I could wait and see if Forster becomes number 1 for PL games, and move him on in GW26 if he doesn't

I think it is considering your long term view and 2FT next week would be great. BB is an over rated chip imo.

Do it.... More matches means more opportunities for points Forster will never start in PL matches. Pope could get save points in DGW 26, if not CS.

I have 2 FTs. DCL, Justin doubtfull and Wilson out.

    Bench all 3 and do
    Saka -> Gundogan

    Wilson->Kane

    Can't afford both.

All this talk of Bench Boost being overrated makes me sad 🙁 I can remember hitting 170 points with mine a couple seasons ago and don’t think I’ve ever scored less than 100 with it... if you nail it you can make massive gains

    1. ⚔★Vibudh★⚔

You're limiting yourself in other weeks to achieve that 1 week success, and probably even using your WC to prep for it, WC alone is worth 20+ points, if you're making minimal changes to the team to prep for BB then fair it means huge gains without any hidden costs

      Sour grapes 😉
Opinions about Chips differ according to the results IMO. For example I find TC chip overrated after using it on Kane/Sane/Mane for last 3 seasons 😆

how many points did your starting XI score in that week?

Your Bench did not give you 170 points. Perhaps 40 from 4 players?
Even if you get 20 points in a SGW from BB i think the extra 20 points are lost further down the line when you are limited from making further more transfers because of excessive budget on the bench.

Having said that if you can manage a bench of Dgwers with minimum Funds for example with Mitchell/Kilman/Forster(if he starts). Then it would be great.

It is not always just about the week you play the BB as lots of other factors come in to play.

It's bit of a lottery really, but can be very powerful if the funds are properly spread. At the moment my funds are spread without ownership of Salah, Kane, Son or KDB.

I will WC in 26 if I BB this week, WC in 25 if I don't BB this week, but I have tried setting up a GW 26 BB team but I am not very happy with it and would prefer to concentrate my funds on the starting 11.

I think I will take a -4 and play my BB because I have had 25 points on my bench in 2 of the last 3 game weeks and I expect something similar this week.

Chelsea switched to four at the back at half time in tactical move. Emerson already on pitch so moved to left back. Ergo, no need for Alonso, so subbed off. No sign of any injury.

There is a fixture swing in GW30. But there could be a drop in motivation/Teams could be at the beach already by then.
Since i am sitting at 950k i think for me its best to attack GW26 with a BB and a WC.
I do not have any Southampton Spurs and only 2 City and 1 Villa. So a WC is the best for my team i guess.
