The best Leeds players to consider for FPL Double Gameweek 25

Leeds come under the spotlight as we begin our look at the clubs with two fixtures in Double Gameweek 25.

The Elland Road outfit are coming off the back of a mixed run of results to face Wolves and Southampton in the coming Gameweek.

With a number of well-owned assets who are still receiving a lot of attention, Fantasy Premier League managers are backing Leeds players to deliver.

But are their high owned assets worth having? And are there Leeds players still flying under the radar? We assess their credentials in this Premium Members article below.

THE FORM

Bamford and Raphinha star in audition for Double Gameweek 25 2

Coming up from the Championship, Leeds have been a revelation this season, with their gung-ho style earning plaudits far and wide.

Their 40 goals this season can only be bettered by teams in the top six.

Unfortunately, this has come at the expense of having a solid defence, with Leeds also shipping 42 goals. Only West Brom have conceded more.

Their up-and-down season can be summed up perfectly from results in their last six Gameweeks.

A fantastic away win at Leicester along with confident wins over Crystal Palace and Newcastle are sandwiched between losses to Brighton, Everton and a battering by Arsenal.

Their 4-2 defeat at Arsenal also showed just how vulnerable they can be at the back without club captain Kalvin Phillips (£4.9m), who missed out through injury.

So, going forward, Leeds are one of the best attacking outfits in the league, just don’t expect them to keep many clean sheets.

Have all chips intact but can't seem to decide on what to do with them. Don't see value in WCing out of this team with 11-12 good players already in the team. Maybe watch how gw25 unfolds and assess what 2FTs can do for dgw26? GTg? 1FT and 0 itb.

    Stones, Cancelo, Lowton

Pep will rest Sterling this game I think. Arsenal and CL game more important.
Everton without DCL should be an easy 1-0 win for City.

He's gotta be close to getting a rest. Has started 4 games since the 2nd of Feb. Played 90 in three of them, and 56mins against Swansea a week ago.

I'd guess he starts on the bench and if needed will come on with 30 to go. If City is easily in front he'll stay on the bench. There's fixtures galore coming up for City.

Having said that, who knows what Pep will do. Gave up a long time ago of trying to predict his line-ups. I hope he starts as he's my captain and Sterling has a pretty good record against Everton.

KDB gets any minutes 2night will he be in many WC's? or will he be phased back in, prioritising the champions league during the busy schedule?

If KdB plays tonight, do you have a plan if any to get him in?

    1. Silecro

Didn't warrant anything to get him this season. And Gundo started his scoring streak even before KDB got injured, so currently no plan to get him in.

It's not either or. It's both. If KdB returns to 19/20 form with an extra DGW before GW29, he's a huge asset. I wasn't willing to pawn off Fernandes or Salah for Sterling but a fit and firing KdB is a whole other beast.

        1. Silecro
          • 6 Years
          3 years, 2 months ago

This season he has been fit but not firing. If he plays tonight and doesn't do any mega haul or something eye-catching, cant see justifying to sell either Bruno or Salah if I already have Gundo for half the money but same production.
I see FPL as the "what-have-you-done-for-me-lately" game and not living on past glories (just like Trent). When/IF he hauls, then i'll think of plans to get him, nothing till then.

You know what's funny. Statistically, he's been performing BETTER than last season.

He's been deployed further forward, he's been taking more shots, has higher xG and everything. Gundogan doesn't figure into this conversation. Gundo is far and away the best asset in the game when fit and playing in this system.

It's similar to how Jota for a while made people think they could cover Salah. These budget assets are diamonds. They don't impact on the other guys. If KdB is fit and playing, I'd argue he's better than the other premiums considering the team he plays for, the team form and the fixtures.

          So is Cancelo 😀

For his $ he's worth the risk providing you've got a half decent defender on the bench. I've got no way to keep Dias over Stones in the next few weeks.

It's very hard because he's the best premium asset in the game statistically (his level of underperformance this year has been incredible and I don't think anyone really believes KDB is that bad a finisher) - but the value in Gundogan and their defence is so insane that combinatorically I'm struggling to justify selling Bruno/Salah for him when it means I need to make such a severe downgrade in quality in defence.

    For those without a free hit;
    Gameweek 29 has three matches.
    The games are uninspiring
    Brighton V Newcastle
    Fulham V Leeds
    West Ham V Arsenal
How many players is everybody looking for and from which teams?
The season ticker is not inspiring me for any of the teams fixtures, either before or after GW29.

Actually think most of the teams have something to be said for them. Intend to field about 8 mostly with players who’ll provide good bench cover going forward. This becomes easier if Villa Spurs is added of course

Leeds are unpredictable but clear value

Fulham and Brighton are cheap are both on a defensive roll.

Arsenal are intriguing - especially if Auba is back on song. WH are also an interesting pick - not 4th in the table for nothing

yeah the gundo points are so tilting but havent had the luxury of changing it as always had more urgent fires as its not like the city def isnt performing

Thoughts on Son and Kane double up? I dont have to get in Kane but he might be the best TC shout

    Gundogan Bruno Salah Son Raphinha
    Bamford Ings

On wildcard. Is Son essential for this run or is Kane enough spurs attack?

Could replace with Maddison which allows me to keep Ings through to DGW27, rather than playing bamford (whu)

Anyone looking to bring in Struijk instead of Dallas? He has looked a decent threat at set pieces and should be play in DGW25. Also it allows teams with no BB left to move to a cheaper bench after 25.

Looking at both, since Struijk will be the perfect 5th defender going forward

Easily a season keeper when you got him at 4.5! Just trying to weigh up if Dallas is worth the extra 1m for DGW

        1. Catastrophe
          • 13 Years

          This is my BB26 Team:

          Martinez*, 4.5*
          Stones*, Cancelo*, Targett*, Shaw*, Struijk
          Salah*, Gundogan*, Fernandes*, Son*, Maddison*
          Kane*, Watkins*, Bamford

Basically no way to fit Dallas in. BUT Struijk has played the last 9 games, he's a perfect (long-term) 5th defender at 3.9, looks fairly versatile which you would hope reduces risk of rotation and I'm also persuading myself he offers *some* attacking threat - a great header against Arsenal...

            • 5 Years

He did have 3 misplaced headers from a corner or FK in the Everton or Palace game so the threat is there.

Is this a decent BB team for GW26?

    Ederson - Meslier
    Konsa - Lowton - Pereira - Dias - Rudiger
    Gundo - Bruno - Son - Grealish - Raphinha
    Kane - Watkins - Ings

Would mean only Meslier and Raphina the SGW players

I just thought of something. It was around this time last year we were planning for a blank followed by a big double gameweek. Then everything got cancelled. Can't believe it's almost a year now!

I think you're both right, before the pandemic came we were coping with megastorms in February which postponed a City-Arsenal game, so there was lots of speculation about that rearrangement first. Then it was all made a moot point anyway!

If on WC now, is Rudiger too good to ignore at 4.6m?

I think he's a good pick yeah. I still don't fully trust Tuchel with regards to rotation, but Ruidger seems as nailed as you could be in this Chelsea team.

What about this for a wildcard, leaving double City Defence behind, bringing in Sterling and making ready for a kdb switch when nessesary. Ive put my double city def WC after for comparison. A or B if you had to..

    A

    WC25
    Areola, (Martinez)
    Stones, Shaw, Dallas (Rudiger) (D.Burn)
    Bruno, Salah, Sterling, Gundo, Raphina
    Kane, Bamford, (Watkins)

0.8mitb FH and TC still left to play

    BB26

    Dallas + Raphina > Pieters + Barnes (-4)

    Martinez, Areola
    Stones, Shaw, Rudiger, Burn, Pieters
    Salah, Bruno, Sterling, Gundo, Banres
    Kane, Watkins, Bamford

    B

    WC25
    Areola, (Martinez)
    Cancelo, Shaw, Dallas (Rudiger) (Stones)
    Bruno, Salah, Gundo, Raphina (Barnes)
    Kane, Bamford, Ings

2.2mitb FH and TC still left to play

    BB26

Still unsure on my moves. Dallas, Raphina, Bamford, and Ings all possible moves out. Pieters, White, Burns, Grealish, DCL, Watkins possible moves in.

    Martinez, Areola
    Cancelo, Shaw, Dallas*, Rudiger, Stones
    Bruno, Salah, Gundo, Barnes, Raphina*
    Kane, Ings*, Bamford*
