Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Double Gameweek 25?

Fantasy Premier League are largely between Southampton and Leeds United assets for the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy.

Patrick Bamford (£6.9), Raphinha (£5.4m) and Danny Ings (£8.4m) have replaced the usual suspects as the front-runners considering they each face two fixtures in the next week.

Despite Leeds and Southampton sitting 11th and 13th in the Premier League respectively, they offer plenty of entertainment value for neutral fans thanks to Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s offensive approaches to the game.

Still, some Fantasy managers might be tempted by some of the single Gameweek options, especially with Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) facing an out-of-form Newcastle defence.

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Double Gameweek 25 captaincy decision. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Bamford is the runaway leader in this week’s Captaincy Poll, nearly 60.0% of our voters willing to hand the armband to Leeds’ leading goal-scorer.

Behind him in the second place is team-mate Raphinha, just short of 14.0% of total votes. The former Rennes player has now delivered Fantasy returns in each of his last five Premier League appearances and, of course, as a midfielder, stands to be better rewarded for clean sheets and goals than Bamford.

Fernandes and Ings are tied in third, gaining 7.8% of votes each.

Understandably, Fantasy managers are willing to back Leeds assets given their attacking potential and high ceiling but are Fernandes and Ings capable of delivering bigger scores as this week’s differential captaincy picks? Is there perhaps an overlooked player, for example the Goals Imminent table king Nathan Redmond (£6.4m), worth our consideration

Best 4.8max Goalkeeper with an expected DGW26?

I'm going for McCarthy as Areola has little chance for a DGW. Pickford is another option but they have not been keeping any clean sheets...fixtures looking great for Everton though.
McCarthey slightly edges it for me...they have a possiblity for DGW in 27 too

Pickford is the only one you can be fairly sure of. There will be others when the fixtures are announced but who knows which ones?

I’d rather just not have money on my bench for weeks and weeks and have to take hits to get rid of it all. Plus there are large fixture swings for certain teams coming up eventually.

Always the case after BB. Was for those who played it in GW19.

I’m just going to slowly, but surely make downgrades combined with upgrades (even if for a hit) - I.e McCarthy > 3.9 & Barnes > Son

Depends on current team. Many can make it through this week and next with with triple leeds and ings without hits, then just use -4 or -8 without needing WC.

I'm honestly not that impressed by any WC25, BB26 teams.

WC'ing in 30 or 31 still much more appealing to me. The fixture swing away from Spurs, Lee and Avl is significant.

Thoughts on this WC for BB in 26?
Haven't seen Ederson in many teams but it feels like a good way of avoiding Pep roulette.
Song/Ings can become Barnes/Kane. Not sure which I prefer.

    Martinez - Ederson
    Rudiger - Cancelo - Shaw - Targett - Dallas
    Salah - Son - Bruno - Gundogan - Raphinha
    Bamford - Watkins - Ings

In theory I like the idea of Ederson - however, you won't want him taking up that third City spot long term IMO plus its a lot of money on a 2nd keeper

Don’t like Ederson pick at all.

Evening all. Struggling a bit this GW with team selection and bench order.

    Thoughts on the below:

    Pope
    Cancelo ~ Dallas ~ Shaw
    Raph(C) ~ Bruno ~ Gundo* ~ Salah ~ Son
    Bamford ~ DCL*

    Martinez ~ Stones ~ Antonio* ~ Mitchell

Thoughts on this as a one week punt? (WCing next GW)

Cancelo (think he'll be rested) -> Veltman
    Cresswell -> Shaw
    Antonio -> Ings

    (-8)

First 2 moves fund the 3rd move.

Leaves me with a strong bench of: Foden Watkins Tarkowski though....

Think he's always a decent pick. Reason I've not looked at him yet is just can't afford him. And cheaper strikers doing well.

The plan is Ings this week, to Kane (C or TC or C&BB) next week.
Not sure people will have funds for Vardy, or unwilling to drop salah or bruno

Bench headache, need some advice please..
    Martinez
    Dallas, Cancelo, Shaw
    Salah, Bruno, Raphina, Gundo, Sterling
    Ings, Bamford (c)
    (Forster, Cavani, Cresswell, Lowton)

Am I right to bench Cavani? Bench order correct?

assuming Gundogan's not on pens, i'd start Cavani over him.

Cavani rested tonight for europa so will start vs Newcastle.

United clearer favourites, higher XG, Gundogan's goal spurt doesn't mean that he's more likely to score or assist than Cavani is, in fact if you saw a betting market on it, it would show Cavani as more likely to score.

A lot of people won't agree but starting Cavani is the EV+ move.

          Or start him over sterling?
Gundo must have quite high ownership now and I know the guys ahead of me in my mini leagues have him. Just worried about benching a haul from him.
You think Cavani just has a Europa League injury then?

I'm not sure about benching Cavani. Although I think one of Gundo or Sterling won't play anyway so it should remove the headache for you

If you had to play him over someone in that team who would it be?

Thanks for you input guys! Nice to get some other’s opinions!! Have been on DDG so will probably stick with him!! Both will probably get clean sheets anyway, so it’s going to be close!! Areola may shade it if that happens as I think he will have a bit more too do!! But DDG is a safer pick with Wilson out IMO, cheers fellas

    Sorry RP

    I this too crazy?

Thinking ahead and wanting to save my WC past GW26, while trying to build a BB team. Also want to move to 2 x city mids.

Stones, Grealish, Cavani => Shaw, Foden, Ings (-4)

    Giving me:
    Martinez – (Button)
Shaw* – Cancelo – Digne – (Coufal) (Rudiger)
Salah – Bruno – Gundo – Foden*- Son
    Bamford – Ings*– (Brewster)

Then bring in a playing keeper and Brewster replacement with 3mil itb next week. Probs go without Kane.

Very tough. Is DCL confirmed fit? If he is 100% I'd probably go for him just coz you know he'll start. never know if foden starts or not.
