Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Double Gameweek 25?

Fantasy Premier League are largely between Southampton and Leeds United assets for the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy.

Patrick Bamford (£6.9), Raphinha (£5.4m) and Danny Ings (£8.4m) have replaced the usual suspects as the front-runners considering they each face two fixtures in the next week.

Despite Leeds and Southampton sitting 11th and 13th in the Premier League respectively, they offer plenty of entertainment value for neutral fans thanks to Marcelo Bielsa and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s offensive approaches to the game.

Still, some Fantasy managers might be tempted by some of the single Gameweek options, especially with Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) facing an out-of-form Newcastle defence.

As ever, the Captain Sensible article is here to help with your Double Gameweek 25 captaincy decision. As this uses extensive data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

Bamford is the runaway leader in this week’s Captaincy Poll, nearly 60.0% of our voters willing to hand the armband to Leeds’ leading goal-scorer.

Behind him in the second place is team-mate Raphinha, just short of 14.0% of total votes. The former Rennes player has now delivered Fantasy returns in each of his last five Premier League appearances and, of course, as a midfielder, stands to be better rewarded for clean sheets and goals than Bamford.

Fernandes and Ings are tied in third, gaining 7.8% of votes each.

Understandably, Fantasy managers are willing to back Leeds assets given their attacking potential and high ceiling but are Fernandes and Ings capable of delivering bigger scores as this week’s differential captaincy picks? Is there perhaps an overlooked player, for example the Goals Imminent table king Nathan Redmond (£6.4m), worth our consideration

Really stuck on what to do here guys. Which options better? 2FTs 0itb.

    A) Grealish & DCL > Raphina & Ings (Brought in Grealish 2 weeks ago and might need him back for possible DGWs)
    B) Son & DCL > Raphina & Ings (risk going without spurs for the WHU game BUT will bring Kane in next week)
    C) Just get Raphina and don't worry about Ings for now (save 1FT for next GW)
    D) Get Antonio out instead of DCL (applies to A & B)

    Marti
    Cancelo Stones Lowton
    Son Salah Bruno Grealish Gundo
    DCL Bamford

    Forster Antonio Coufal Chilwell

Thanks guys! I've been on C all week tbh.
i dont think Ings will do much vs CHE. He could get a haul vs LEE though. Add that to a small return vs CHE and it could be a decent score. Plus has nice fixtures and more DGWs.

Looking to bench boost GW26 so need to improve Mitchell next GW, which puts me off Ings over Kane this week
Still got WC, BB and TC

    Pope,
    Cancelo, Dias, Lowton, Dallas
    Salah, Bruno, Gundo, Grealish
    Bamford (C), Antonio

    Martinez, DCL, Soucek, Mitchell

    2 FT 6.8 ITB

    A) Antonio + Soucek > Kane + Raphinha
    B) Antonio > Kane
    C) Soucek > Rafinha/Son
    D) Other

Thoughts on this WC for BB26?

Struggling to afford Son and Kane. Not averse to bringing Kane in for -4 next gameweek.

    Martinez - McCarthy
    Cancelo - Stones - Lowton - Shaw - Dallas
    Son - Salah - Bruno - Raphinha - Gundogan
    Watkins - Bamford - Ings

If BB26 I probably ditch Salah and invest the money in Kane and improve more money in the bench players like Mccarthy and Raphinha for great players that will double.

Yeah I agree, DCL is a close second. I think if Henderson is back in midfield Liverpool won't be so soft at the back, but I can still see him nicking something. Not sure if Zaha is back this weekend, team news will be key. Villa fan here so don't like benching Jack.

I want to bring in Kane and Raphinha but I'm not sure how to bring in Raphinha with my current midfield. I'd appreciate any advice.

    A. Antonio + Areola --> Kane + 3.9 GK
    B. Antonio + Son --> Kane + Raphinha
    C. Antonio + Coufal --> Kane + 4.5 or less defender (Ayling?, Cooper?)

    Martinez, Areola
    Cancelo, Stones, Dallas, (Lowton, Coufal)
    Fernandes, Salah, Grealish, Gundogan, Son
    Bamford, Watkins, (Antonio)

    Your advice appreciated.

Due to low squad value it seems the only way I can get Ings & Raphinia for GW25 is to transfer out Son & DCL/Cavani.

I could just go with Raphina by doing Mee >Taylor & Soucek > Raphina

    Pope
    Cancelo, Mee, Stones,
    Salah, Gundo, Fernandes, Son
    Bamford, DCL, Cavani
    Sanchez, Soucek, Coufal, Dier

Salah is a must. Don't listen some so-called experts/podcasts to suggest sell Salah to give place for another big hitters.

Liverpool sucks, but you see Salah still deliver very constantly. You can imagine once Liverpool "reborn" in a match/gameweek, he easily will have a haul, if not HT, that you never want to miss this.

I will not presume Ben Crellin's prediction on GW26 to be correct and activate my WC in GW25. This means I may not use chips (probably) or TC only in GW26.

If having 3+ Single gw players (e.g. Leeds, Westham etc.) to use BB, it has no difference to use in other gw.
