How the top 10k FPL managers set their teams up for Double Gameweek 25

Just over one-third of the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers are tripled-up on Leeds assets for Double Gameweek 25.

According to LiveFPL.net, 34.9% of them came into the latest round of fixtures with Patrick Bamford (£6.9m), Raphinha (£5.4m) and Stuart Dallas (£5.0m) in their team.

While Friday night was not the best of starts to the Gameweek for this trio, it could still be a powerful combination be against Southampton.

A wave of investment in Raphinha appears to be the main reason for the popularity of that triple-up.

The midfielder has broken into the top 10k’s most-owned players for Double Gameweek 25 having risen to 53.5% ownership at this level.

Ilkay Gündogan‘s (£6.1m) increased from 79.3% to 85.2% suggesting very few pounced at the short-term opportunity to sell him for Leeds’ set-piece taker.

And, despite dropping to the fifth-most top-10k midfielder, Son Heung-min (£9.5m) also earned more backers, rising from 52.2% to 53.3% backing at this level.

It was Jack Grealish (£7.7m) who looks to have been a popular route to Raphinha. He was the fifth-most popular top-10k midfielder for Double Gameweek 24 with 44.2% ownership. Following Friday’s deadline, he sits in just 28.9% of squads here.

There was still some investment in Dallas and Bamford for Double Gameweek 25, solidifying their already strong presence in the top 10k.

The defender rose from 51.9% ownership to 67.6%, becoming the top 10k’s most popular defender in the process.

Bamford was already their favourite forward but still had room to increase his top-10k ownership from 88.9% to 97.9%.

Meanwhile, Danny Ings (£8.4m) has broken into the template ahead of his two fixtures, already the second-most-fashionable forward at this level (41.5%).

Despite a Double Gameweek against Southampton (home) and West Bromwich Albion (away), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) looks to have been one of the fall guys here.

He was in 45.9% of top-10k teams for Double Gameweek 24 but resides only in 13.6% now.

And Michail Antonio (£6.6m) was almost certainly involved in Ings’ transfers considering his massive drop-off too.

65.7% of the top 10k owned the West Ham man for Double Gameweek 24 while only 36.1% still had him after Friday’s deadline.

The captaincy is something of a one-sided story in Double Gameweek 24.

82.0% of the top 10k backed Bamford with the armband, making him one of those most backed in one Gameweek so far this season. His effective ownership for the round stands at 180.7%.

The Leeds striker certainly has work to do after blanking against Wolves on Friday night.

That two-point score will certainly have eased some fears of the 6.4% of top-10k managers who captained Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) for Double Gameweek 25.

Despite playing just once this week, the Manchester United man is preparing to face a Newcastle defence that has conceded twice in six of its last seven outings.

Raphinha was the third-highest for top-10k captaincy backing (5.5%) while Ings (2.9%) and Gündogan (0.9%) came fourth and fifth respectively.

Double Gameweek 25 Scout Picks features Leeds triple-up

It will certainly be interesting to see what transfers transpire between now and Saturday’s Double Gameweek 26 deadline.

There will be 14 teams enjoying two fixtures making for the biggest Double Gameweek of the 2020/21 season.

For all the heavy investment this week, Leeds are not one of those sides, although have a relatively favourable single Gameweek fixture at home to Aston Villa.

In total, 10 players from the matrix of 15 in the top 10k most-owned matrix have two fixtures in Double Gameweek 26, so many of the managers at this level could be approaching a stacked-enough squad to warrant a Bench Boost.

As things stand, Dallas, Vladimir Coufal (£4.7m), Raphinha, Bamford and Antonio are the five popular top-10k assets scheduled to play just once in Double Gameweek 26.

6.4% of the top 10k have already laid the groundwork for Double Gameweek 26 by playing their Wildcard.

The Free Hit and Bench Boost received very little attention this week, although we can expect a bump for both of them next time out.

Meanwhile, just 1.1% played their Triple Captain for Double Gameweek, most of them handing it to Bamford.

Considering the higher-than-usual attention for Wildcards in the top 10k this week, it is worth looking at the trends they set.

As things stand, there is a slightly higher proportion of players with two fixtures in Double Gameweek 26, with 11 of this template fitting that description compared to 10 in the main ownership matrix.

Interestingly, a large number of Wildcarders still tripled-up on Dallas, Raphinha and Bamford while Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) was also included for Southampton’s Double Gameweek 25.

The most notable differences between this Wildcard template and the rest of the top 10k appear to be 66.8% inclusion for Luke Shaw (£5.0m) and renewed interest in Spurs assets.

55.6% of these Wildcarders selected Son while 62.3% of them went for Harry Kane (£11.1m).

How about a little recap of how everyone got through BGW18 and DGW 19 ? Lessons learned and what not etc.

Me personally, I had 8 players for BGW18 got 42 pts, followed by 11 players for DGW 19 got 109 pts with 23 pts on the bench.

Lesson learned was to be extra mindful of deadlines during fixture congestion periods as I missed out on BB, also having 15 DGW players is not always necessary for BB (might be a controversial hot take).

My major lesson this season is to get the BB chip out of the way on one of the smaller DGWs. I was all set to BB Pope, Lowton, Rudiger, Lookman for GW24 so that i had a clear run at 26. I backed out of it last minute and that bench brought in 41 points. Which i didnt get. Now I am trying to manage the BB, the DGW26, TC and the BGW29 as I have all 4 chips to play. There is no way ill come close to getting 41 points on BB anyway - I missed that boat.

That must have been painful, worst feeling second guessing yourself. I have all 4 chips too and it's honestly much more of a headache. BB really should be played early I agree.

Anywhere between 10-13 DGW players is the sweet spot I think. DGWs can really make or break your season, so definitely makes sense to attack them with full intent.

I planned & used BB in DGW19 & got 7 points from bench mainly due to Leeds extra game being postponed & their blanking players - looks like similar scenario with next double with many having Leeds on bench with just one game - be wary of another blank.
Other point is with injuries & rotation you never get all the players selected playing both - maybe wise to look at who’s nailed & how many days between fixtures

Best way to spend 9.7m on two defenders that have double gameweek? Will be BB'ing (didnt have to take WC). Rest of defences is Stones, Dias, Rudiger.

    Im thinking Tete/Aina + Shaw/Soy?

    Pick one:

    A) TC Kane
    B) BB with Areola/ Johnstone, Bamford, Vestergaard, Struijk (12 DGWers + 3 SGWers)

I'd probably BB as I'd argue you may not have a decent opportunity after next week, as in in future your BB will almost certainly be 4 single game players. There should be at least another 3/4 TC opportunities for a DGW player (obviously it will depend on who exactly).

Bit of a shame that this season there hasn't been an opportunity to bench boost with 3 or 4 DGW players, and likely won't be now. I've seen a few comments recently that the BB is the worst chip. I'm thinking this is more just about this season. 4 additional scores, sometimes with DGW players, cannot be the worst surely? TC is only worth 1 additional score.

Anyway I think I'm BB next week just because I've got 2 DGW GKs and I may not even have that again this season.

Good choice. Especially if you don’t have A WC, A BB can also be used to an occation to finance A couple of extra hits to improve your team for upcoming fixtures

I might just end up using the BB chip for 2-3 players. It's really a waste this season.

It doesn't have to be. I wouldn't rule out the idea that even just having 2 DGW GKs can give you quite a bit extra. You're effectively getting 4 GK appearances instead of the usual 1 (or 2 in a DGW).

    3. Holmes

Its worst mainly because it requires too much of planning, and this indirectly have impact on GWs surrounding the BB week. Plus it may not generate enough points as you would expect with all the plannings.

BB works well when there are lot of cheap assets who you would not usually start with good fixtures in a DGW. That is generally a rare occurrence in any PL season. Because most of the time, the cheap players are cheap because they don't get loads of points.

    5. Forgetmeknot

Yep I value the bb more than Tc chip (as likely most ppl will captain the same player in that week so only one more player).

I’ve always scored well with it and find it the more “enjoyable chip”

Same thinking. Only problem is if i want to transfer sgw players to dgw players that means i need to use WC to prepare for 29.

I backed out of a BB in GW24 that consisted of Pope, Lowton, Rudiger, Lookman. It took in 41 points. Seems like an unreal haul now. I wont come close to getting it when i do BB (which will be next week).

The lesson: get it out of the way in a smaller DGW on a couple of teams that have good double fixtures.

Yeah I saw your post above but it feels a bit "hindsighty". Anyone can look back at a previous week and think they should have bench boosted. You're right you'll probably struggle to match that now but in another season in could be totally different. In my past bench boosting in a large DGW with 4 DGW players has got me loads of points.

I did say it was my own call not to do it. I had gone as far as buying 2 of the 4 and had 2 FT's left to buy the other 2. I thought I would have other (and better opportunities to BB) but as we are seeing now, I wont.

Ouch, yeah one to take on the chin there. Yeah as mentioned in my starting post, this season has been pretty cruel on the bench boost chip. There just isn't going to be that opportunity to have 4 DGW players on the bench along with a heavy DGW first team. I believe this has been possible in every previous season it's been around.

BB really buggers up your team structure, leading to weeks of agonising points left on the bench. Better to BB just before a WC I reckon, or do it in GW1

I think the best ones are certainly made up of cheaper assets that can become part of your regular bench. I guess right now it would be something like Areola, Lowton, Rudiger, Jorginho. Obviously this is all too late now though as it would have required the WC last week.

I think Everton have 2 of the better fixtures but cant trust them to keep a clean. Chelsea have two tough fixtures. I think Leicester arent a bad shout. Pereira will be a lock because of injuries.

Overall the best SGW fixture in DGW 26 is Brighton (at WBA). Just a pity they dont have a double. I would invest in them if they did.

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Martinez
    Cancelo Dias Shaw
    Salah Bruno Son Gündo
    Kane DCL Watkins

    (3.9 Rudiger Burn Alzate)

Got 0.9m itb for DCL ➡️ Ings for DGW27.

No FH left so I have 5 starters for GW29.
Will use TC for Spurs next DGW most probably or a SGW.

Starting 11 likely very similar to mine. Like the planning for DCL to ings that’s what I’m struggling with.

Have to make that DCL to Ings transfer as Everton face Chelsea in 27. But I'll probably reverse that move again in 28 if Everton get a DGW.

You probably have a better TV than mine that's why you can afford a better bench and put more emphasis on BB.

Was my original plan but now Spurs and villa play that week should be easier to get 8+ players out for 29. Will now WC this week and have 29 wk players on the bench in addition to the obvious Kane, son, Martinez’s etc. Of course that’s as I’ve used my other chips already so can just focus on getting the best 11 out now.

Guys 2ft, bb tc wc left don't know when to use bb but planning to use tc on kane this week which will be the better choice

    A) antonio salah to kane Barnes /maddy
    B) Antonio son to kane Barnes/maddy

A will allow me not to use an extra transfer /hit to bring back son in..

    Suggestions will be helpful. TIA

Next week is prime for BB or TC, but you should’ve used WC to get set up?

City as back to back doubles, and Everton no form

Just woken up to new 26, 27 and 29 fixtures! They are certainly making this season tough. Got to be WC right? (if you’ve used BB - a very successful 124 last week thank you very much). Just transferred out both Everton players who I may want back now(!) and should load up on Spurs if they play well this weekend - them and villa having fixture in 29 now makes things much easier!

    Key Decisions, probably in this order;
    - Which 3 City best (double double gameweek). I would suggest the most nailed on players. Ederson?
    - Best captain decision for 26 looks tricky and could prove crucial - KDB?
    - best Spurs and Villa assets
    - best other dgw assets, Everton, Leicester?

    Certainly needs more planning!

Not the feedback I was looking for. No I just wasn’t reading sports news last night when I’m guessing fixtures were announced!

Might as well answer something useful. I'd prefer double ManCity attackers for dgw, reason is defenders from other teams are more nailed to play 2, but ManCity score enough goals to outscore other teams attackers with one start and a cameo.

Man City- the 3 you already have?
      (C) - Kane
      Spurs - Son and Kane
      Villa - Martinez, Grealish, Watkins
      Best other assets- Lei, Eve.

      Sorted

Was all set to WC this week and use TC
Is it a waste as my team is like this currently.....
    POPE
    TARKOWSKI STONES KONSA
    STERLING GUNDOGAN SALAH BRUNO Raphinha
    WATKINS Bamford

    Sanchez Ings Dallas Coufal

Need Spurs and Everton, and would like to dump Sterling and swap Stones to Cancelo

    Kane Vardy Watkins

    ESR Rudiger

Honestly> no . You've gone double Everton. Siggy was rank in the last double gamer. Not nailed either. Digne will only score if he assists as they Everton dont do clean sheets. The rest of the team is actually ok.

Nothing is confirmed but best to think of options in advance, so if Grealish is injured really ruins my bench boost 26 plans, worth scrapping it and just triple captaining Kane instead?

    Martinez*,
    Dias*, Cancelo*, Lowton*
    Salah*, Bruno*, (Grealish*), Gundo*
    Kane*(C), DCL*, Bamford

    Pope*, Raphina, Dallas, Mitchell*

1 FT 2.0 ITB (BB, TC, WC)

    A) Grealish + Mitchell > Barnes + Pereira/Digne (-4)
    B) Grealish + Pope + Mitchell > Son + 4.5GK + Konsa (-8)
    C) Dont bench boost and just replace Jack (TC Kane)

Anyone can post a rumour. I could post one right now about any highly owned player and in a few hours it will probably be on here. Just an example of how ridiculous social media is.
