Scoutcast Episode 368 – FPL managers set for biggest ever Double Gameweek

Joe is joined by David and Karam to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

With 14 teams playing twice and six more having a single fixture, this looks to be the biggest Double Gameweek in FPL history.

There’s a lot for the Scoutcast crew to take in, with chips and captaincy among some of the issues to consider.

They also have to plan for future Double and Blank Gameweeks and still ensure they target the right players for the weekend.

Luckily, Karam is on hand to help frame the discussion as he unleashes his Wildcard.

Are Everton and Tottenham assets the best to target for the captaincy this time around, especially with such favourable fixtures? Or are more reliable premium assets such as Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) a shrewder pick?

And what of the cast of low-owned gems to consider, with Leicester’s Harvey Barnes (£6.9m) already being picked up by thousands of FPL managers ahead of the weekend.

Our trio take time to recap on their Gameweek 25 scores too, as well as frisk the fixtures over the next month and firm up their transfer and captaincy plans.

For Karam especially, he is hoping he can set up a team for a number of weeks, not just the impending set of fixtures. This is especially important as he prepares for his wedding next month – many congratulations from all at the Scoutcast ahead of his special day.

a few days of tinkering, happy with this,

    Areola - (Sanchez)
    Shaw - Dias - Digne - (Dallas - Struijk)
    Barnes - Mo - Bruno - Gundo - (Raphina)
    DCL - Kane - Watkins

6 players for GW29 and will also use FT's for some west ham players

only 2 city boys as leaving my options for KDB in 27 open!

Doing the same myself with the KDB option. However who do you expect to ship for him...Bruno based on fixtures 27-29?

it would have to Mo! even tho he plays Fulham!

it will depend on how KDB is managed with UCL and how liverpool look in the double

Is this a WC? Looks fine, blank extra ITB?

If possible I'd maybe prioritise a second City defender due to extra DGW and MUN fixtures in 27/28/29.

See below but I may personally lose Shaw in 27/28 for BGW coverage.

Yes this is WC, i dont want 3 city as it will block a move for a 2nd city attacker in DG27, the city defence will split the minutes up, ppl like stones/cancelo/laporte/walker will all share the minutes.

i see what u mean with uniteds fixtures, Shaw has the potential attacking returns.

Fair enough if you want an attacker. Yeah, expect there to be some mins loss, but even 1 game from a city defender these days is a good bet for a CS.

Shaw is fine for this GW, but the only one other than Struijk I'd have just slight reservations over.

    Martinez
    Cancelo / Stones / Shaw
    Salah / Fernandes / Barnes / Gundogan / Raphinha
    Kane / DCL

    Sanchez // Bamford / Dallas / Burn

    A) Burn > Digne [-4], bench Raphinha.
    B) Hold.

    - Burn could lose his spot by 29
    - Digne has a DGW (or 2) before 29
    - Raphinha in form, but SGW
    - Saving FT could be useful, but not sure where I'd use it in 27?

    Likely see myself doing:
    - For GW28: Shaw/MCI > Targett (DGW)
    - For GW29: Salah/Barnes > Son/Grealish (FTs) and maybe a -4 on top.

    Martinez
    Targett / Dallas /
    Raphinha / Son* / Grealish*
    Kane / Bamford

Maybe Grealish is debatable because GW31/32 are horrible if you have triple Villa AND triple Leeds.

Raphinha hasn't blanked in recent weeks and was super unlucky not to haul a massive score in the dgw just gone. I don't trust the Everton defence still despite the great fixtures- they don't pass the eye test...and so if you're really getting Digne for the DGW potential attacking returns, I really fancy Raphinha to outscore him (Villa poor form and weak defensive numbers- they have been very lucky not to concede in prior weeks eg Brighton)

As a Raph owner of 10 GWs or so, I agree he looks good, but I think there is a lot to gain from the likes of Digne in the next few.

    Martinez, Martin

I have Shaw, but that's because I wildcarded in GW25 with the Newcastle in mind (sigh).

Although great statistically I wouldn't go for Shaw now due to the fixtures in 27/28 then a blank on 29 (if no FH).

Due to BGW prep I'd look at Targett or even a Fulham lad. (AVL defence concerns me right this second though.)

For CS potential, if I knew he'd play, I'd say Dier... but a spurs form and unnaildedness point of view that's tough.

What are people's plans for GW29? Currently got 3 players with a game that week, and no FH chip left. I'm considering switching all devices off for a week and just pretending it doesn't exist.

    1. Tinfoil Deathstar
      • 3 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

Do you have WC left? I have no FH left but trying to use WC this week to get 6/7 players in for 29, and then use remaining FT's to bring that number up.

      1. frankiefernandez
        • 14 Years
        3 years, 1 month ago

Yeah, do have WC left, so that's definitely an option. The fixtures in GW29 don't look too appealing, so I'm wary of overloading on those teams for the benefit of one week. Already have 9 DGW players this week, and most likely adding Kane with my FT to make it 10, which I'm pretty happy with, otherwise I would be WCing now.

My advice is to load with triple Villa and Leeds players (along with some spurs) who have also great fixtures in GW30, then WC in GW31 to get rid of them all, that is my plan

    Ederson, sanchez,
    Cancelo, dier, targett, dallas, vesta
    Salah, bruno, gundo, jorghino, raph
    Kane, ings, bamf

Wildcarded last week after deadending into WC24 (which has worked well with 11 dgw over last two weeks) w no FH in 29. Do I:

    A) dallas & vesta -> digne & adarbriyo and BB bamf, ings and raph for -4
    B) bamf & vesta -> dcl & adarbriyo and BB ings, raph and dallas for -4
    C) dallas, vesta & ings -> dcl, digne and adarbriyo and BB bamf, raph and adarbriyo for -8, with hits required for gw29

    Martinez (Fabri)
    Shaw, Cancelo, Reguillon (Burn, Struijk)
    Bruno, Salah, Son, Gundo(VTC) (Raphinha)
    Kane(TC), DCL, Watkins

    0.7 itb

Possible plan from GW27 to Blank GW29:

3 City in GW 27 (Gamble on Bruno OUT, KDB IN with FT)
11 players in GW 29 (DCL, KDB and Shaw OUT with FTs, Bamford/Antonio, Auba/Lingard and Targett/Creswell IN)

Giving my wildcard a lot of thought and putting emphasis on triple AVL, triple EVE, triple TOT & triple MCI.
Eggs in baskets but it's soon to be Easter.

Aim is to BB in GW28 (awaiting confirmation)

    Lloris (Pickford)
    Digne Dias Cancelo (Konsa Dallas)
    Bruno Son Gundogan Barnes (JWP)
    Kane DCL Watkins

JWP to Traoré in GW28 (May have Traoré on WC instead)
Barnes + DCL to Bamford + Raphinha for GW29

    This would give me:
    11xDGW in GW26
    4xDGW in GW27
    6xDGW in GW28
    9xBGW in GW29

      Which one sounds best?

      1. Martin Grealish Antonio to DGW GK Barnes Kane -8 and BB: DGW GK Dallas Raph Bamford

      2. Grealish Antonio to Barnes Kane -4, play Raph or Bamford and maybe use TC

      Which GK if 1?

Maddison (injury doubt) to Barnes for free? If Maddison is out it would mean playing Lowton who has two tough fixtures in tot, LEI.

      Cheers lads!

Not longterm no...might play both in the DGW, but you're chancing it hugely thereafter
