Scoutcast Episode 368 – FPL managers set for biggest ever Double Gameweek

Joe is joined by David and Karam to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Double Gameweek 26.

With 14 teams playing twice and six more having a single fixture, this looks to be the biggest Double Gameweek in FPL history.

There’s a lot for the Scoutcast crew to take in, with chips and captaincy among some of the issues to consider.

They also have to plan for future Double and Blank Gameweeks and still ensure they target the right players for the weekend.

Luckily, Karam is on hand to help frame the discussion as he unleashes his Wildcard.

Are Everton and Tottenham assets the best to target for the captaincy this time around, especially with such favourable fixtures? Or are more reliable premium assets such as Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes (£11.6m) a shrewder pick?

And what of the cast of low-owned gems to consider, with Leicester’s Harvey Barnes (£6.9m) already being picked up by thousands of FPL managers ahead of the weekend.

Our trio take time to recap on their Gameweek 25 scores too, as well as frisk the fixtures over the next month and firm up their transfer and captaincy plans.

For Karam especially, he is hoping he can set up a team for a number of weeks, not just the impending set of fixtures. This is especially important as he prepares for his wedding next month – many congratulations from all at the Scoutcast ahead of his special day.

      Unfortunately recency bias is going to swing this.

      I absolutely love Raphinha, but Digne with two(?) (good) extra fixtures & good 30+ fixtures is hard to overlook.

      Although having said that, a Chelsea defender from GW30 looks okay too.

      Salah had the best form of the 3 & also a double game week.
      I wouldn’t transfer one out for another.
      On recent performances I really don’t see many returns for Son or Kane. I think people are blinded by the fixtures

    Would you sell him for a hit which also gives extra player for BGW29 (if Cash is still out)?

      Unless you want to captain Vardy sometime then I'd be downgrading him for funds.
      Also if you're on WC and haven't played bench boost get a playing 2nd keeper. You've got 4 non-guaranteed starters on that bench.
      I wouldn't use up a 3rd Man City pick on Ederson either -6.1m for a keeper that realistically has a ceiling of 6 points is a lot of money.

      I’d get a keeper that plays in BGW29 - save you a transfer - say Ederson to Martinez & upgrade defence with Dias or Cancelo

    Instead of TC'ing this GW, anyone considering using it on any City player in DGW27 instead? Fixtures could be just as good from attacking perspective, especially Southampton at home, and maybe there will be more clues on Gündo vs KDB form and likelyhood of starting both by then? Maybe Sterling comes into the picture as a differential as well.

      I am, but I am forced to as on WC this week.

      I think the decision will be made on how many mins Gundo plays over the CL and DGW26 and/or hopefully DCL will get a DGW in 27 which could make an easier decision. Everton still need their Villa game rescheduled.

      I brought in Raphinha and Bamford with no intention of keeping, but think I have to keep Raphinha now. In excellent form and has a run of games where I think he can get returns, and it means one less hit this week. I already will have 13 DGWers without dropping him and otherwise I want Grealish who is currently injured and in a team that has gone off the boil a little of late so it's easy for me. How many do you have?

        I have 12 DGWers and Dallas, Raph, Bam with 0 free transfers. If I could do Dallas to Digne for a -4 I probably would, or if Grealish was fit I’d do Bam to Watkins. As it is, I can’t see any clear upgrades so thinking about sticking with what I have.

          If you're happy with your team then yeah just hold, no need to take hits you for changes you don't even really want to make. You might even be able to put a team out for BGW29 without needing the FH if you do that which means you can keep it for GW33 if you need, I'm looking at my team and realising this might be possible too!

      Similar situation for me Camzy. If Grealish is fit I’ll probably keep Watkins up top. If it looks like he is out, I’ll move to Vardy.

      Im on WC and already have Barnes. Reckon thats the tight way to play it?

        I'd keep Watkins regardless. He has high shot volume, a really good double for attacking, and those fixtures are still relevant of the DGW in 28 and game in 29.
