FFS Cup

The first-round draw for the 2020/21 FFS Cup

Qualifying for our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League cup competition took place in Gameweek 25.

Fantasy managers who registered their teams and scored more than 69 points (after hits) qualified for round one automatically, while those who scored exactly that only progressed if their overall rank was 237,328th or better.

Ten of our former winners also submitted entry forms and were handed a bye to the first round. They were: Wild Rover, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, 2EyedTurk, donnellyc, TH14, MCH, LokomotivPhilman and reigning champion Powell.

A total of £300-worth of prizes are on offer as usual in this tournament, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this article.

And a reminder that Premium Members can still enter our FFS Members Cup up until Saturday’s next FPL deadline, with qualifying set to take place in Gameweek 26.

FIRST ROUND DRAW

The full draw for the first round can be viewed here.

Our former champions were all kept apart in the draw for the first round.

Powell begins his defence with a tie against shliger, while Philman – currently nicely positioned in the top 10k – takes on Laser314.

The other ties involving our ex-winners are Hasselbaink Forever v Wild Rover, lugacun v Lokomotiv, donnellyc v Fred54, Mayanyi v TH14, Leon Harris v Haggis, A Manager Has No Name v FPLBuff, ST United v MCH and LUGGY10 v 2EyedTurk.

Six of our qualifiers currently sit in the top 1k.

The highest-ranked of them all, The Fighting Cock, is in 273rd position. As luck would have it, he takes on the lowest-ranked manager in our cup, Ahmed Eid, who is not far off the five-million mark.

Elsewhere among our high achievers, A.J. (563rd) will play donnhaus, DAZZ (744th) has to get past Ibra-gum, and Who are all lukakus (674th) squares off against Merha.

Alaa Khaled Mokhtar (303rd) v PigPen59 and dilbert (881st) v panarvanitidis are the other ties involving managers in the top 1,000.

Dhara was our highest-scoring manager of Gameweek 25, with a massive 122-pointer seeing him to a Gameweek rank of 98th. They take on Hakchak in round one.

At the other end of the scale, DucksFly2gether squeaked through as the 1,024th and final qualifier. They face S26_nur in Gameweek 26.

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK SCHEDULE?

The FFS Cup competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 25
  • Round 1 – Gameweek 26
  • Round 2 – Gameweek 27
  • Round 3 – Gameweek 28
  • Round 4 – Gameweek 29
  • Round 5 – Gameweek 30
  • Round 6 – Gameweek 31
  • Round 7 – Gameweek 32
  • Quarter-Final – Gameweek 33
  • Semi-Finals – Gameweek 34
  • Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 35

WHEN ARE THE FIXTURES RELEASED?

Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published before each Gameweek deadline.

Grealish to Barnes and have no Spurs player and spare a FT? That's what I'm about to do

    The team:
    2ft - 0.0 itb

    Martinez
    Shaw, Dias, Mee, Coufal, Dallas
    Grealish, Salah, Bruno, sterling, Gundogan

Missing the point here - question is not whether he'll outscore the City team, but whether he will outscore any given City player who's subject to a high risk of being benched in one of the DGW matches

Forgot to add I have only taken a total of 8 points worth in hits all season. I just feel the three players I'm bringing in could heavily outscore the three I'm taking out over the next three weeks. I will be captaining Kane.

I could do that but I'm really worried not owning Jane as I feel he will be heavily captained this week. Plus I want to get rid of Tarkowski. Raph to Barnes would leave me short of getting digne.

You're in the same position as me maybe.
      I was looking at
      KDB / Pereira / Gundo / Dias
      or
      Salah / Gundo / Dias / Cancelo

Other posters suggested KDB and Pereira are both returning from injury into a DGW, adds risk to them.
I'm still unsure. I really fancy KDB even with managed minutes. Is it worth not having Salah though? Dunno.

    Best way to find 0.2:

    A) McCarthy -> bench fodder (have Pope and no BB)
    B) Robbo -> Digne
    C) Robbo -> Pereira

Feels a bit weird when Robbo has a DGW with sheffield and then Fulham H after that but they don’t look good tbh

Makes me laugh how everyone is clucking around for Barnes now. Thought he was only for “casuals” ? Lol. All of us who owned him earlier in the seasons were called casuals. There was nothing casual about him, passed the eye test massively almost every week and was unlucky on a few dissallowed goals. V direct/dangerous player who just needed to improve finishing slightly

    Peirera/Aina

    Salah/Gundo/Bruno/Barnes

    (Pope/Ings/Raphina/Bam)

    Morning all!

My last 2 GWs have been my best two of the season so far, so happy days!

    Trying to keep it up this week;

    Pope
    Lowton Cancelo Stones
    Bruno Raphina Salah Son Gundo
    DCL Kane(TC)

    4.0 Dallas Coufal 4.5

Expecting to not see a green arrow due to the amount of great BB teams there will be.

Would you do anything extra for a hit? Pope to Martinez worth a -4?

These ”Dallas to someone with a double for a hit”- questions roam about quite heavily. Nobody can give you a factual answer. Just their opinion. And there’s already so many. Just look.
To answer your question, no. O think Digne will do well, i hope so at least but then again Dallas might play mid and when he does he’s involved in their attacks. Usually is also when playing at the right. Not so much on the left which seems unlikely this week.

    B) DCL
Also still in the real cup so this is quite key to staying in as I predict he/she plays bench boost this week.

Or maybe that’s because Fulham have up’d their defensive game meaning Kane cappers should be wary?

Kane still has penos unlike DCL. Whenin doubt always for penalty taker in this VAR world

I do think Fulham have upped their game which makes me lean towards DCL but agree pens can be key if undecided. I’m still not sure what to do haha.

Pens have dried up recently (I should know as a Saints fan 🙄 ) but DCL normally gets the assists for them anyway.
TBH, they’re both good options and I don’t see one massively outscoring the other.

Which of these options make better sense
    1) Bench boost and do Raphina + Ings + Coufal to Barnes/Rodriguez + Watkins + Digne(-8) ::: Rest who will play from bench are Pope Bamford Dallas Lowton

    2) Triple Captain Kane and do Salah + Ings to Barnes/Rodriguez + Kane (-4) and bench Pope Raphina Coufal Dallas

I still have WC which i should use after bgw 29 hence not sure about remove Leeds babes. I somewhere feel I am using bench boost just to not miss out on Pope dgw but will I get better chance to BB?

Thanks for the comments below, i was ftr responding to this you just beat me to it. Im personally not aware of another week where the BB will be so effective, far easier to pull off a TC as you're only relying on that one player to start so there will be other chances. Out of those two options i'd probably go to the first option but maybe even keep Raphina who you will want back.

If I do keep Raphina i can just do Ings + Coufal to Watkins + Digne and get 12dgw + 3 leeds guys. Is that good?

get rid of salah before a dgw is just asking for trouble, especially with sheffield being one of the fixtures

I think bench boost is the best option this week if you still have it. I like the transfers too. I would consider keeping Raph as not sure about Barnes with Maddison out. This would bring it to a -4 rather than -8.

Worth taking a -8 to get Kane in and captain or stick with either Bruno/dcl and just a -4?

    Moves:
    A) Antonio+coufal to Watkins+Everton/utd/villa defender -4

    B) sterling+Antonio+coufal to Kane+Dias+6.2m mid -8

    Current team

    Martinez/pope
    Robbo, cancelo, tarkowski, Dallas, coufal
    Son, sterling, gundo, Bruno, raphinha
    Bamford, dcl, Antonio
    1ft, 0.9 itb

Not for Sterling no as he has 2 dgws! I would do A and captain Bruno/Dcl. Can advice me above?

Sterling out would go to Dias who would also play 2 DGW and i'd hazard a guess he'd be more likely to play all 4.

Just stick with the Mcity players you have till you WC... Waste of transfers. Sterling is still big differential so keep for 2 dgws I think as its not as if Kane is on fire and now faces 2 buses

    Soucek, Robbo and McCarthy to
Barnes, Digne and Martinez for -4

    Would give 11DGW players
    Martinez
    Cancelo Stones Digne, Shaw
    Bruno Salah Gundo Barnes
    DCL Kane

    Subs: Pope, Raph, Coufal, Bamford

    Last piece of the puzzle:

Play Shaw over A or B, I feel Shaw will play both games where as Stones and Dias more likely to only play the one. Just feel Dias more nailed in the team now Laporte is back.

    A) Stones
    B) Dias
    C) Other

    Martinez
    Dias*, Stones*, Digne
    Salah, Gundo, Fernandes, Barnes
    DCL(TC), Kane, Watkins

    Sanchez, Shaw*, Grealish, Struijk

    Morning all

What are the chances of Rodriguez playing both games this week do we think?

    Cheers

He may play both but have a feeling he will only play 60mins or so in each of them.
