Cavani back in United XI as Solskjaer explains absence of Martial and de Gea

After drawing a blank in the goalless draw with Chelsea at the weekend, Fantasy Premier League’s leading points-scorer and most-owned player will attempt to resume normal service at Selhurst Park.

Bruno Fernandes’ (£11.6m) sub-par record against the ‘big six’ is well documented but his output against the rest of the division is exemplary, with 26 attacking returns in 19 such games this season.

The Portugal international unsurprisingly is involved from the start against Crystal Palace this evening but there are one or two eyebrow-raising selections in Ole Gunnar Solskaer’s starting XI, most notably between the posts.

David de Gea (£5.3m) isn’t involved in the visitors’ matchday squad at all as Dean Henderson (£5.2m)makes just his third start of the season.

Anthony Martial (£8.7m) is also missing, with Solskjaer explaining ahead of kick-off:

Anthony got a knock in training on Monday in his knee, not ready for this, hopefully for the weekend but we’re not sure yet.

That’s personal reasons [why de Gea isn’t involved].

Edinson Cavani (£7.9m) returns from injury to lead the line, with Eric Bailly (£4.8m) and Nemanja Matic (£4.7m) also recalled.

Making way are Daniel James (£6.2m), Victor Lindelof (£4.8m) and Scott McTominay (£4.9m).

Crystal Palace make just the one change from their goalless draw with Fulham at the weekend.

James McCarthy (£4.3m) replaces Jairo Riedewald (£4.4m) in the engine room, while Connor Wickham (£4.4m) and Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.3m) returning from lengthy lay-offs on the bench.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.1m) isn’t involved despite a recent comeback to training.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Ward, Cahill, Kouyate, van Aanholt, McCarthy, Milivojevic, Ayew, Eze, Townsend, Benteke.

Manchester United XI: Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Matic, Bruno, Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood

Trouble is finding a premium that is worth anything right now.

Kane is perhaps the closest but he's a stats monster rather than a returner - until tomorrow perhaps.

I’m thinking of bringing him in for TC next week, funny eh. I think he’s a good option, he’s had his rest and is low owned. Never scored against Man Utd for City or Liverpool though sadly

Don't you think he'll be rested second match? Pep seems to rotate every other game but tries to let then play the full 90 in that one game. If the one game is man u that's not tc material?

Will he be fully rested, thats my issue. Arsenal play away in Europe just 3 days earlier. If Sterling is rested vs Southampton he could very well be a good option in 28 away to Fulham

This is a bit of an odd situation for people wildcarding in GW 31. Ive already got 8 players for GW 29 and since I have most of the key assets covered already, Im thinking I can afford a few luxury transfers to target GW 27, 28 and 30.

But theres hardly anyone I want. Either the fixtures are bad or the form is bad.

The only reasonable thing I can think of is punting on Bale or switching my triple City to include KDB.

Who are other people looking to bring in? Im struggling to find worthy assets to bring in

Mahrez was such a nightmare to own earlier in the season I'm not sure I can face him again. But with relative secureity of starts and good form, he might be a great differential.

    Kane or Antonio next week?

Had thought it was an easy decision but not nearly so sure now. Think it may come down to Bale minutes against Fulham. If he gets something close to the full 90 tomorrow I'm doubting he gets anything other than minutes off the bench at the weekend.

Spurs are on a really tight turn around and WH will be rested.

        Not so sure actually

Waiting on tomorrow of course. But this was a very different Palace defence tonight - same outlook as last 2 seasons. The Burnley game isn't a guide if you saw it. Spurs will not get anything like the same space. That performance by Burnley was similar to the Southampton one against Spurs early season.

Still take Spurs to win of course but suspect a fairly narrow result. I can see more goals in the Leeds WH match being plausible.

Role of Bale key to me right now.

    Current team for DGW27:

    Johnstone
    Stones-Dallas-Cancelo
    Salah-Fernandes-Son(c)-Gundogan
    Watkins(v)-Bamford-DCL

    Areola-Digne-Mee--Soucek

Just want a second opinion, please choose one:

1: Fernandes --> Bale (suggested by a user here)
    2: Fernandes, Watkins --> Raphinha, Kane (-4)
    3: Digne, Watkins --> Dias, Antonio (-4)
4: Keep Fernandes, Watkins and Digne and save a FT
    5: Other, what?
