Scout Picks

Double Gameweek 27 Scout Picks built on Man City and Spurs triple-ups

Manchester City and Spurs form the spine of our Double Gameweek 27 Scout Picks line-up.

Following David, Neale, Tom and Andy‘s Scout Squad submissions, we have chosen our final XI of best players for the latest Double Gameweek.

We line-up in a classic 3-4-3 formation which comes in at £81.3m, £1.7m under our budget of £83.0m.

GOALKEEPER

Ederson (£6.1m) makes an appearance in the Scout Picks as the most nailed-on starter for Manchester City in their two Double Gameweek 27 fixtures. He looks good value for two clean sheets against a Manchester United team who have scored one goal in seven matches against the big six, and Southampton, who have scored the second-lowest amount of goals in the league over the last six games (four).

DEFENDERS

The improving Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) takes up a spot in the Scout Picks XI, with the full-back showing signs of returning to last season’s form. Level with Marcos Alonso as the most persistent shooter among defenders in the last four games than the Liverpool right-back,. He also has created the second highest amount of chances of all defenders, so attacking returns are likely to follow.

The first of our Spurs triumvirate is Sergio Reguilon (£5.5m). Spurs face an impotent Crystal Palace side, with an expected goals (xG) rating of 1.76 over their last four games. With Reguilon carrying the most attacking threat of Spurs’ defenders, he gets the nod.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£4.6m) takes up the last spot in our backline. Sam Allardyce’s West Brom team are showing some signs of improvement, and are undefeated in their last three games with two clean sheets to show for it. They face a Newcastle side in utter disarray, and without three of their first choice attackers. Sam Allardyce also has a cracking record against one of his old sides, undefeated in his last six meetings with the Magpies.

MIDFIELDERS

Kevin De Bruyne‘s (£11.8m) return to action is too much for us to resist, especially with another Double Gameweek on offer. The Belgian has started each of the last three Premier League matches and appears to be slowly getting back to his imperious best. Across his last four matches, De Bruyne is top among Manchester City assets for key passes while only two of his colleagues have produced more shots than him during that time.

Son Heung-min (£9.5m) is our chosen Spurs midfielder for Double Gameweek 27. While Gareth Bale is the talk of the town, the South Korean is a much more assured route into Jose Mourinho’s attack considering the manager’s recent management of his minutes. Over the last four matches, no Spurs player has managed to play even half as many key passes as Son (13), whose total of five big chances created over the same period is the best in the Premier League.

Like Ederson, Ilkay Gundogan (£6.2m) finds his way into the Scout Picks XI as a nailed-on City starter likely to get attacking returns. Despite experiencing a brief dip in form, Gundogan has still got on the end of five big chances and had nine shots in the box in the last six Gameweeks and had a crucial rest agains Wolves on Tuesday evening.

The in-form Jesse Lingard (£6.0m) takes up the last midfield spot in the Scout Picks XI. The Manchester United loanee has hit the ground running for West Ham, only failing to return once in five games and bringing in two double-digit hauls during that time. Over their last four matches, only one Premier League player has managed more shots on target than Lingard.

FORWARDS

With other premium options around him crumbling, Harry Kane (£11.1m) still offers a reliable supply of points. No striker has had more attempts on goal than Kane in the last six Gameweeks, with the Spurs striker playing less of a creative role in recent outings. He also loves a goal against Palace, scoring in both of his last two games against the Eagles.

Ollie Watkins (£6.6m) retains his place in the Scout Picks XI for Villa’s game against Wolves. Patrick Bamford and Gabriel Jesus are the only forwards with more shots on goal in the last six Gameweeks than the former Brentford front-man. Watkins also faces a Wolves side who conceded four goals against City in their last game.

Our final Scout Pick is Michail Antonio (£6.5m) ahead of what looks to be a great fixture for the Hammers frontman. Antonio has been a key part in West Ham defying expectations this season, delivering some big hauls along the way. And he is showing no signs of slowing down, getting on the end of the second-most big chances of all forwards, as well as having the second highest amount of attempts on goal and shots in the box in the last six matches. The Hammers also face a leaky Leeds defence who have conceded the second-highest number of goals this season (44).

Substitutes

  • Fraser Forster (£4.0m)
  • Jannik Vestergaard (£4.7m)
  • Antonio Rüdiger (£4.6m)
  • Pedro Neto (£5.7m)

THE CAPTAIN

Who are the best captain options for FPL Gameweek 36+?

We choose the Scout Picks captain using a four-way vote between our Scout Squad pundits.

Because we use Fantasy Football Scout data so heavily in this process, the skipper we choose each Gameweek is known only to those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription and revealed to the public only when the deadline has passed.

Here’s how we voted for Double Gameweek 27:

THE COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Each week, one of the Fantasy Football Scout community takes on the Scout Picks by pitting their chosen XI against ours.

The Community Member who beats our team by the largest margin will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Moderators and Contributors League for the following season.

Boris Bodega takes on the Scout Picks in Double Gameweek 27 going with a 3-5-2 line-up of Ederson; Dias, Tierney, Coufal; Salah (vc), Aubameyang (c), Son, Jota, Soucek; Jesus, Antonio.

AA33 is the current leader, defeating the Scout Picks by a 53-point margin in Gameweek 2.

Welcome to the Fantasy Football Scout mini-leagues and community competitions round-up after Gameweek 26, an eventful record Double Gameweek.
As well as the two main FFScout Leagues, we also report on the Head-to-Head Leagues, the FFS Cups, Last Man Standing, Pro Pundits, Mods & Cons, Scout Network and a selection of community mini-leagues.

    FFSCOUT OPEN FPL LEAGUE

Pandin Bruyne is the new leader of our Fantasy Football Scout mini-league (league code 5u05vz), seven points ahead of Luka Bubnić, and seventh overall. This is his eighth season, his best previous finish being 54,613th last year. 49,322 teams are currently participating in this mini-league, with at least six more waiting to be added at the next results update.

This is now the second Best League in FPL, with former Pro Pundit Ash (aka FPLHINTS)’s mini-league rising to first and current Pro Pundit Andy LTFPL’s dropping to third.
Our current top five are Pandin Bruyne, Luka Bubnić, Nathan Jobling, Kevin Rose (FPL Saffer) and Chi Risk, all of whom are in the top 25 overall.
Pandin triple captained Harry Kane for a score of 118, and Luka, Nathan and Chi also scored 100 or more after Bench Boosting, but last week’s leader Kevin‘s disappointing Free Hit only returned 78 - and they were all outshone by Connor Richardson who shot up to 30th in the mini-league after his Bench Boost returned 140.

    FFSCOUT COMMUNITY MEMBERS LEAGUE

Nathan Jobling is the new leader of our Fantasy Football Scout Community Members mini-league, eight points ahead of last week’s leader Kevin Rose, and is now 16th overall.
It is open to anyone with a registered Fantasy Football Scout account, paid or free (the code is shown on the Members home page and in the Scout Leagues widget when signed in).
This is his tenth season, his best previous finish being 96,609th last year.

The February manager of the month is Alvin Chiang, who totalled 491 points in Gameweeks 22 to 26 with scores of 93, 69, 108 (Wildcard), 99 and 122 (Triple Captain Richarlison). Please email Geoff to claim your prize (a £50 Amazon voucher).

    HEAD-TO-HEAD LEAGUES

Ville Tuominen (Santigold) and Aleksander Våge Nilsen (AleksanderVN) both won again in League 1 and are still the top two, with 54 points each out of a possible 78.
Jose Miguel De La Roca Argueta also won again in League 8 Division 42 and is now the highest scoring manager in our head-to-head leagues with 69 points, last week’s joint highest scorer Mikael Brantingson having lost in League 9 Division 75. Jose is currently only 303k overall, but he is an experienced player who has been playing since at least 2006/07 when he finished 27,441st.
A fixtures table will be published in The Complete Guide to Scout’s tips and advice for Gameweek 27 ahead of the deadline; for further information see our main Head-to-Head page.

    FFS CUPS

Gameweek 26 was the first round for the FFS Cup. Seven former winners (donnellyc, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, TH14, 2EyedTurk, Lokomotiv and Philman) are all safely through to round 2, but three others (MCH, Wild Rover and Powell) fell at the first hurdle. Other managers through to round 2 include A.J. (176th overall), dilbert (487th) and The Fighting C… (292nd).

It was also the qualifying round for the FFS Members Cup. Four former winners (waltzingmatildas, Malaikat Jahad, rrcmc and Pep Pig) will receive byes into the first round proper in Gameweek 27, and the other 508 places will go to those managers who have achieved the qualifying score in Gameweek 26, which is expected to be announced soon along with the draws for the next rounds of both cups.

    LAST MAN STANDING

The safety score for Gameweek 26 in TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition was 73; 95 managers were removed and 480 will go through to Gameweek 27 when the elimination threshold will rise to 16%.
The highest score after deducting hit points was a Bench Boosted 123 by Vladimir Kandic. This is his 14th season, finishing 8,011th in 2009/10 and 4,365th last year. He is currently 36,593rd overall.

    PROS AND CONS

Andy LTFPL is still the highest ranked of our Pro Pundits and is now 799th overall, 34 points ahead of Fabio Borges. Andy, Mark and Sam all triple captained Kane; Fabio and Darren both triple captained Salah; Zophar, Holly and Tom played their Wildcards; and Seb, AZ, Simon and Lateriser their Bench Boosts, their scores after deducting hits varying from 62 to 95.

Andy also remains at the summit of the FFS Mods & Cons mini-league but is now only 9 points ahead of Jack Penn (ZoumasBloomers). Sky expert Luke Williams (aka D1sable) successfully triple captained Gareth Bale for 127 points.

Live FPL creator Mohamed Ragab (Ragabolly) has taken the lead in the Fantasy Football Scout Network mini-league (which is for the Scout Network and includes six of our Pro Pundits). His Bench Boosted 106 (-4) has taken him up to 8,385th position, just one point ahead of last week’s leader, Babis Kokkinis of FPL Greece.
    This is Ragabolly’s 12th season, finishing 2,821st in 2017/18.

    ‘TOP’ MINI-LEAGUES

It’s been a memorable Gameweek for Phil Olorenshaw, who has shot up to 182nd overall and is now top of no less than four ‘Top’ mini-leagues after triple captaining Kane for 119 points. He is 550th in our Career Hall of Fame and was 74th in our Live Hall of Fame after Gameweek 23, but will no doubt be rather higher after the next update. This is his ninth season, with four top 8k finishes, the best of which was 234th in 2014/15.

In my Top 10k Any Season mini-league (league code: 8kcvzq), he has a 14 point lead over Per Kristian Leikanger. Last week’s leader Alaa Khaled Mokhtar only scored 55 and has dropped to 11th.

In Chaballer’s Hall of Fame >Top 1k< mini-league (league code: mr8dyh) he is 18 ahead of last week’s leader Paul Strange.

In PDM’s Top 1k ANY season mini-league (league code: 2agvvx) he has a 20 point lead over last week’s leader Jan Kępski.

And in my Multiple Top 10k Finishes mini-league (league code: 8t42p6) he has extended his lead over John Forshaw to 31 points.

Sakari Uutela is the new leader of the Top 100 Any Season mini-league (league code: xptbn4) after playing his Bench Boost for 116 points and is up to 16,626th overall, one point ahead of last week’s leader Richard Scoular. This is his tenth season and he was 54th in our Live Hall of Fame after Gameweek 23, but like Phil Olorenshaw he will surely be much higher after the next update. He has already had six finishes in the top 7k, the best of which was 72nd in 2014/15.

Meanwhile, reigning FPL Champion Joshua Bull has taken the lead in Simon March’s FPL Champions League after Bench Boosting for 109 points and has risen to 62,761st overall, 15 points ahead of 2009/10 Champion Jon Reeson (Westfield Irons).

    BEST OF THE REST

Charles Richter is the new leader in Greyhead’s The Next Great and The Good mini-league and is up to 1,676th overall, 14 points ahead of Zuhair Al-Zaidy, as last week’s leader Lee Bishop drops to fourth. This is Charles’s ninth season, his best previous finish being 18,866th in 2017/18.

Andy Short is still top of Skooldaze’s FPL Vets 2006 or before mini-league but has slipped again to 5,369th overall and is now only two points ahead of Sng Junyang.

And John Forshaw retains his lead in my January to May League (league code h62bh1), 23 points ahead of Budhi Nugraha. He has risen from 118k to 1,019th overall since the league started scoring in Gameweek 17. He started the year with 100 points in Gameweek 17, scored another century (139) in Double Gameweek 19 despite placing his Triple Captain armband on Mo Salah, achieved a third one (102) in Double Gameweek 24, and Wildcarded in Double Gameweek 25, but has not yet used his Free Hit or Bench Boost. He is in his 13th season, finishing 3,803rd in 2012/13 and 7,660th the following year.
