The best FPL midfielders and forwards to buy or include on a BGW29 Free Hit

Midfielders and forwards come under the spotlight as we round up the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Blank Gameweek 29.

With only two assets costing more than £10.0m in action, a key strategy will be finding the right budget buys for our FPL teams.

Premium options Harry Kane (£11.5m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) are among the players who have already risen in price before Friday’s deadline, with Gareth Bale (£9.6m) also on the up.

But are there more cut-price options going under the radar that are worth bringing in? We’ve studied the stats to find out in the Premium Members article below.

    Current team:

    Areola
    Elmohamady (?) Reguilon Veltman
    Son (?) Raphina
    Kane Watkins

    A. Salah and Elmohamady -> Dunk/Dallas and Trossard (-4)
    B. Play FH.

wouldn't free hit, don't see where the points are this week.

but equally not sure about that specific transfer.

Who else would you bring in? Looking at Saka/Auba too depending on Arsenal's lineup tonight.

Dunk looks a decent move, in midfield I'd be tempted by a punt on Odegaard.

finally time to face my team

    Areola
    Dallas Burn*
    Son* Raphinha Lingard
    Kane Bamford (should be fit)

Martinez De Bruyne Gundogan Digne Stones DCL Shaw
    1FT 3.6m

combination of poor planning and injuries has put me in a poor position. Think it is a clear that it is not a week to chase points using multiple hits.

Son to Bale and DCL to Watkins and just take my medicine?

    Any stand out transfers?

I'd do Burn to Veltman/Dunk and leave the rest as it is. Watkins will be a waste. The Son transfer is tricky but if he's 100% out, I'd go ahead

I had been prepping for this week for a long but I guess injuries have created a big problem for me. Here is the squad:

    Emi (Fabri)
    Burn* Veltman Konsa
    Son* B.Traore*
    Bamford* Kane

    Rest: Bruno / Mane / Gundogan / DCL / Shaw / Stones

Have 2 FT and 0.3 itb

In case, injuries to some rule them out, my transfer out priority:
    - B.Traore
    - Burn
    - Mane

In case apart from Son all seem okay, then it will be:
    - Mane
    - Gundogan
    - DCL/Son

Am I in the right direction in terms of getting my transfer out priorities straight or I should target some other players?

That’s terrible luck, having that many injuries. I agree with your priorities.

Who you thinking of bringing in?

    Martinez
    Veltman Targett Cancelo Shaw
    Fernandes Salah Son Raphina Gundo
    Kane Watkins DCL

Still have my free hit but may use for GW33
Do I go full free hit team or Salah/Son >> Bale/Auba

    Any other ideas?

    NO FH - NO WC

Thinking of using my FTs for Cancelo, Salah > Cresswell, Bale

Gives me this team for 29:

    Martinez
    Targett White Cresswell
    Bale Raphinha ESR
    Kane Bamford

(Fabri - Stones Digne Bruno Gundogan DCL)

Was set on a - 4 initially, but I've gone off it a tad. Worth taking a hit for any of the following?

          Roll a 6 sided dice 60 times, you'd expect to get 10 6's
Striker takes a shot 100 times, you'd expect them to score xGoals.
It's the sum of the chance of each shot being a goal

If I have it right there is no "who" involved. It's a calculation made from factors such as distance, angle etc. Not sure I wouldn't put more trust in a system where there was more human involvement

    3. Ruth_NZ
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 10 days ago

It's expected goals. Essentially every shot or header is given a % chance of conversion based on location and (in more refined models) the location of defenders and a few other factors. The % is based on how many shots/headers from that location typically (statistically) result in goals.

It doesn't take finishing skill into account. A shot from 12 yards and central will be given the same xG for Kun and for Brewster. You have to adjust for finishing quality (and GK quality) yourself.

Expected assists (xA) are a much more dubious number because they don't usually account for chances created but not resulting in a goal attempt - for example a great cross that whizzes across the 6-yard box will have zero xA if no-one gets on the end of it but maybe 0.5 xA if they do.

xG is quite OK though and can be used as a kind of combination reference to take account of goal attempts, shots in the box, big chances and so on all in one number.

It’s so flawed that as long as you watch football and use the eye test combined with understanding the data of what did actually happen you really don’t need it

What’s everyone’s view on playing tactically vs doing what you think is best?

Made my best 11 on free hit and won’t be starting Bamford based on what I think the best 11 is. Bamford is 50% owned so thinking I should go against what I think to protect myself from what could be a disaster if Bamford hauls. What’s the right way to play the game in your opinion?

Premature promotion from the U21s for Lingard imo. ESR showing more promise.

looks like a very weak squad, and struggling to work out which big players are missing other than Jordan Henderson.

Grealish, Maddison and Sancho all injured, as is Pickford although that might be a good thing

India should get well over 200 here. I wish I loved football as much as cricket. There’s so much more of it.

    Raphinha, *Son, (Salah, Gundo, Bruno).
    Kane, Watkins, Bamford.

    Cancelo-> either Cresswell/Tierney with 1 ft.
    Other ft.
    1. Gundo -> Odegaard (fancy him to do well) or Lingard.
    2. Burn -> Veltman. (May even be worth a hit if Burn is out) Playing 29/33.
    3. Something else?

We might be getting a big double in 35 so if you can hold on it might be worth it.

Trossard playing behind the strikers. Gross potentially could play WB if Burn is not passed fit

    On a FH..

Would you rather have Son as a 3rd Spurs player and let another player sub in, or use the slot on Reguilion / Sanchez / Lloris?

Son with a good first bench player. Funds shouldn't be an issue

Which team do people think will score most goals this gameweek?seen various websites predicting spurs to score 2 goals?

hard to tell, which is why FH is so hard to justify. Brighton have the pick of the fixtures, but you wouldn't bet on them scoring more than 2 and they don't have a focused source of goals.

Yeh very tricky this week and can see lots of 1-1 or 1-0

i mean i'm sure someone will score 3, but difficult to predict which team never mind which players.
