What impact will FA Cup quarter-final results have on the FPL schedule?

Manchester City and Southampton have booked their places in the FA Cup semi-finals to help add some clarity to the upcoming Blank and Double Gameweek situation.

The two sides won their respective quarter-finals on Saturday against Everton and Bournemouth, respectively; results which could potentially benefit owners of Spurs assets.

The next stage of the cup competition occurs during the same weekend as Gameweek 32 of Fantasy Premier League, although it will be considerably less affected than Blank Gameweek 29.

Semi-finalists Southampton are scheduled to host Crystal Palace on the weekend of Saturday, April 17 although this match has not yet been officially postponed.

That is because there is a free midweek slot between Gameweeks 32 and 33 which could play host to the Saints and Eagles’ Premier League clash.

Of the two sides, Crystal Palace are more likely to face a Blank Gameweek in that round, considering Southampton have an outstanding fixture against Spurs still to be rearranged, which could come into the equation.

That match could go into the aforementioned midweek slot and, if it does, that would see Roy Hodgson’s men miss out on playing in Gameweek 32, considering Southampton’s FA Cup commitments.

Meanwhile, with Manchester City barring Everton’s participation in the FA Cup semi-finals, the Toffees’ already scheduled Gameweek 32 match against Spurs can continue as planned.

Therefore, if Gameweek 32’s midweek slot is used to accommodate Southampton’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Harry Kane (£11.5m) and his colleagues would play twice in that round.

That said, such a scenario is only one potential permutation that cannot be confirmed until further match dates are announced by the Premier League.

Manchester City’s progression in the FA Cup is likely to interfere with the timing of their Gameweek 32 trip to Aston Villa.

Like Southampton’s situation, a midweek clear of Champions League action between this round and Gameweek 33 means the Citizens could travel to Villa Park on Tuesday, April 20 or Wednesday, April 21.

Manchester City remain without a fixture in Blank Gameweek 33 because of their participation in the EFL Cup final.

Their opponents Spurs will also miss out on a Premier League match that round, as well as Fulham and Sheffield United.

The Blades travel to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon to compete for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Leicester City and Manchester United meet in the final match of the quarter-finals on Sunday evening.

Soualiho Meite and he just started his AC Milan career. I doubt that he'll leave the club especially if we get into Champions League next year. Milan's midfield is very promising in general with the likes of Kessie, Tonali, Bennaser, and Meite

          He looks a good prospect...

But you are wildly overstating his current ability. I'd rather have McTom & Fred in there thanks very much.
In years to come, who knows, maybe he will reach and surpass their level. But, equally, he could come here and struggle to adapt. End up spending a few seasons warming the bench before moving to Sunderland on loan

Only 2 CS since 18. Think it's safe for me to say you don't have Martinez. Who was your keeper for the majority of the time post gw18?

Nope no Martinez. At around gameweek 5 I transferred out Pickford and had to decide between McCarthy and Martinez. Sadly I picked McCarthy and from then on, I always had higher priority transfers to do then doing a keeper transfer so have been stuck with him getting 1pt every week.

Think a GK transfer too can sometimes be a top priority transfer. Just look at Martinez. He's been my top scorer a couple or so weeks. Take a -4 to do the transfer rather than take those 1 pointers every week imo.

easy to say in hindsight though. Couldnt really forsee McCarthy going on a run of 1 pointers and getting dropped for Forster whilst Martinez gets haul after haul. Dont think Villa and Southamptons defensive stats were massively different. Villa have been lucky to get clean sheets on several occasions

                  ??

Bamford is a bog-average forward that happens to be extremely well-suited to Bielsa's style of play. Put him in a 'better side' and he'll end up mainly on the bench.

Name a top-half PL team where Bamford would be 1st choice. I'll give you a clue. There isn't one.

the only issue is my 3 City players could undermine the BB if they get benched. May wait for another week after Ive wildcarded.

City players scuttled my BB too (they weren't on the bench obviously, but they still reduced my score that week considerably from what it would/could/should have been)

I predicted my triple Villa defense to concede, so used my FH, which probably would have been unnecessary otherwise (had 9 players). 26 points from Brighton players making it seem like I did the right thing but need (K)ane, Bale and Reguilon to run riots to feel vindicated 😀 Won't be awake to watch it though!

I’m not usually one to linger on sheer bad luck but having Burn safely in two weeks ago to sensibly prepare for the easiest six points ever in a BGW where my ML rivals don’t have Brighton defenders then have him randomly injured to drop me to probably 8 players if Son also out is really grinding my gears and meaning I have as many players as rivals who didn’t prepare properly.

Yeah, same. Planned WC in 26 with GW29 in mind. Would've had 11 players with no hits. Burn no show taking me down to 9 after a -4. Not been the best of weeks.

                        That's one reason I didn't captain him.
So he'll probably start but get subbed off after completing his hattie!

Struggling this season, currently at 105K and will be happy to reach 20K with only FH left. Don't know whether it's realistic or too ambitious. What tactic would you start deploy with 9 GWs to go? Start doing differential captaincy?

No offence, but I genuinely think so. So much luck required to gain rank ... could not escape 1M rank for so many weeks!

Depends if you feel like you've something to lose. Gambling too early could hurt your rank a lot.

I think you can make a decent gain by playing it safe until GW32, then FH33. Go maverick later on if needed

Did anyone bring in Auba for this week as a short term punt?

What are you planning to do with him?

I'm already looking at my team and wondering WHEN (not if) I will sell him...
My initial thoughts are to keep for the Pool game and then flog him for Jota or Salah (if he finds form)

At least we can look closely at his minutes between then and now (both in cup games and in PL).

                        Possibly neither.

Mahrez minutes is a worry and KDB also will be rotated and hasn't performed anywhere near like a premuim MFer this season.

Think there's more points and far less rotation to be found elsewhere.

I'm keeping Gundo & Stones for now as they are such amazing value and hopefully will either play or miss out. I have a decent bench so I'm not too worried at the moment.

When people suggest a skilled player e.g. Raphina should go to a "top" club next season because he's too good for his current club, I get an intense hatred for Man United, Liverpool and Man City. Why the xxx should they get all the best sweets in the bag?!!! 😀

If I was to choose, then I think Mendy would be my choice too.

I've got McCarthy & Matinez still from BB. The only GK tranny I'm gunna make is McCarthy > 3.9 when I get a spare FT or I need the 0.6 difference.

                        So, Martinez it is!

Yes, I would do the same in your case.
I have the WC coming up in GW31, but would keep Mendy still.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a leap, but I wanted him for this week and he actually rotates nicely with Forster if Forster can keep his spot. Mendy’s probably the best option though

To be honest, I did think about it for a wee while.

But, I think it's hard to justify when we know that Spurs will have a DGW coming soonish.

Kane in 2 games should be able to get a better score than in 1 game v's Newcastle.
Also have to consider that Spurs are in turmoil at the moment and their form has dropped off a cliff. Hopefully, by the time their DGW rolls around, they may have turned things around by then.

Are you not afraid he’ll be benched if it’s midweek before the cup final. If Spurs win the cup Mourinho can spin the season as a success. First trophy in x amount of years etc. If not, it’s a total disaster. I can see a second string team playing midweek against Southampton whilst Mourinho and the first team concentrate on the final.

I am considering it. Definitely won’t use it if there’s a double in 32 as I expect heavy rotation before the cup final. People are talking about a DGW 35 which would be ideal if Spurs had Leeds and Southampton but I don’t know how realistic this is.

Think Chelsea Twitter posted the wrong lineup.

Been taken down and Chelsea TV/App says the following:

                      As per Chelsea TV,

Kepa, AC, Puli, Zouma, Kova, Giroud, Mount, CHO, Chilly, Gilmour, Emerson.

                        that doesn't look right either!?

two left backs and two centre backs in that line-up.

Unless perhaps chilwell plays lcb, emerosn lwb and cho rwb maybe. Or we switch to four at the back with one of chilwell or emerson playing rb

Going by the lineup graphic which is typically accurate, it's Emerson playing LCB.

might be the case. i'd prefer it the other way around but to be fair i don't see either as centre backs even in a back five

Agree. Emerson typically players higher up than Chilwell when subbed on.

It's only one spot in your team.

If you pick a load of solid starters outside of him, then I think you can allow yourself a punt on him considering fixtures and the differential factor

TC chip has been the bane of FPL life since it's introduction.

I've had several 1pters (x3) - Mane, Sane & Carroll (don't ask). The best I've ever done is 7pts (x3) with Kun in a DGW. He played the first game, scored, got injured and then didn't play the second.

Which road to nowhere am I going down this year - probably going to Kane, DCL or Grealish in their DGW they have left.
