Captain Sensible

Who is the best FPL captain for Gameweek 30?

Fantasy Premier League managers have a healthy selection of captain candidates for Gameweek 30 as we come to the end of this calendar year’s first international break.

While Harry Kane (£11.6m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.5m) seem to be the flavour of the week at the moment, both Patrick Bamford (£6.7m) and Raphinha (£5.7m) could offer as much, if not more, potential as they prepare to host Sheffield United.

With so much focus on the premium heavyweights this week, the Leeds duo could provide a perfect opportunity for anyone looking to go against the grain.

That said, both Kane and Fernandes are hardly bad options for Gameweek 30 while Chelsea and Everton face appealing match-ups with West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace respectively.

As always, the Captain Sensible article is here to help you decide on your Gameweek 30 captaincy. As this includes extensive data from Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area, only those with a valid subscription can access it in full.

CAPTAIN POLL

As alluded to above, Kane is the convincing leader of this week’s Captain Poll having gained 46.7% of the total votes so far. Also of interest is the fact that he is also the only Spurs player to make the top-five ahead of a favourable trip to Newcastle. Lingering doubts over Son Heung-min’s (£9.4m) fitness and Gareth Bale’s (£9.7m) minutes are likely to be contributing factors.

Fernandes (17.2%) looks set to claim second place in this week’s poll, followed by Raphinha (7.7%) and Patrick Bamford (6.0%). Chelsea’s Mason Mount (£7.0m) closes out the top five with a 3.8% of total votes.
votes so far.

While the presence of Kane and Fernandes in the top two spots should come as no surprise, Raphinha and Bamford are not getting as much attention as they deserve in my opinion.

I was set on Bruno, then Kane but am definitely considering Raphinha, but for now I'm back at Bruno. Excellent record against Brighton and while they've improved defensively, they'll give MU chances on the break which is where they're best. But honestly there are a good few good options this week.

Bit risky, could easily 2 if not 3 of your City players benched with Dortmund in view (all 3 played in all 3 international games), and Bale might be frozen out. Keep it for after WC and/or possible future DGW if fixtures are moved around to accommodate fans at a home game before the end of season

    Ederson (areola)
    Shaw, rudiger, Dallas, konsa (veltman)
    Bruno, gundo, son, lingard (raphina)

Do you think Cancelo starts / any of your other 11 dont start?

I’d say Alonso is 90% to start and is as close to having a floor of 6 points this week as they come.

But Cancelo is Cancelo so could easily haul

      Very tricky decision

Hmm he might not start I guess.

Hard one, Cancelo might not play anyway with him playing in all Portugal games and the Dortmund game coming up so you might need to rely on your bench otherwise. Is it for free, and would you be doing it as a long-term move?

      1. waltzingmatildas

I'd say go for it, City v Leicester is 1st v 3rd after all and City have only kept one clean sheet in last 5, if Alonso plays he's as good a cert at 6pts as you can get

I own Rudiger but think the back 3 will be Azpi, Chris/Thiago, Zouma. As Rudiger is the only one who played all 3 games.

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 3 Years
      2 years, 12 months ago

Could definitely happen but Thiago might be eased in with how many setbacks he's had, that if he's even definitely ready to go too, I'd say you'll be fine

      1. Cheeto__Bandito
        • 3 Years

Zouma only one who's also played left side like rudiger so I think it depends on him starting in the centre or left side.

Azpi can rotate with Christensen on the left side from current evidence. He is the most safe out of all 3 though, only expect him the miss 1/2 max prem games remaining

Doubt Thiago Silva will start the game, and it's worth noting that Christensen also played 90 minutes for Denmark yesterday. Three places up for grabs between Rudiger, Azpi, Christensen and Zouma but with Rudiger arguably the most versatile I'm hoping he starts.
