Two-time FPL champion of India: The players to target for the season run-in

The Fantasy manager with three top 200 overall ranks to his name, Lateriser, picks out the players that we should be considering for the final eight Gameweeks of 2020/21.

The final stretch is here and with this article, I’m going to recommend a few players that you should be looking at – and I’ll be throwing in some statistics along the way.

Looking at the Season Ticker until the end of the campaign, Liverpool seem like the obvious team to target, especially after their result in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.

I wouldn’t let the fact that they conceded three goals in Spain dissuade me from investing in their defence. There is a huge difference between Real Madrid and the kind of opposition they are about to face in the last eight Gameweeks of the season. In addition, it looks likely that Liverpool are not going to be involved in the Champions League going forward, so there is a considerably lesser risk of rotation in the final quarter of the campaign.

The Reds’ underlying numbers have improved considerably, as well.

What is FPL Upside Chasing and how can I implement it in 2020/21?

      I dont think so, core of your team is fine. Antonio or Bamford to Vardy/Nancho and your in a decent spot imo.

      Def isnt great, could hit in trent for coufal. Veltman will be handy for GW33 and Dallas for the final games of the season

      Maddison for Gundog? Worth one Leicester player on a WC. Or Nacho for Bamford/Antonio

      Not needed really.
      Save for DGW.

      I got Vardy out of the logic of going where the ball is heading, not where it has been...

      Any changes since your video yesterday?

        May as well throw it out there. Cheap cleans at the back and big hauls from the attack, I hope.

        Mendy (Forster)
        Phillips - Rudiger - Holding (Coady, Masuaku)
        Salah - Bruno - Son - Jota (ESR)
        Vardy - Kane - Iheanacho

          Other option is Maddison/TAA in a 3-5-2 instead of Vardy Phillips... but looks great either way

            Thanks MBP, nice to hear it. TAA the main sacrifice but I believe in Vardy the player to come good - the pedigree, the fixtures, the record is all there.

          Quite similar to mine. Have gone for Madders and Greenwood/Mount over Bruno and Nacho.

          Reece over Rudiger and Castagne over Holding. Rest is the same.

            GL mate, Castagne + Maddison could be superb for you. Leicester's fixtures are truly a dream - let's see if they can turn them into a reality. Interesting James shout too, if he starts you'll be profiting. Was great vs Porto.

          Fun

          I'd lose Mo and get a 4th and 5th mid and at least one defence who can return at both ends. If Vardy doesn't work out then you can shift him into midfield and get Mo that way

          Worth noting that the best of the Liverpool fixtures come after the bets of the Leicester fixtures. Smarter that way I feel.

            • 3 Years

            Not losing Mo. Get the form argument but he's an outstanding player with great fixtures and my captain this week. Feels a lot simpler, easier and better to have him in the side. Scored vs Madrid and Arsenal anyways, hasn't lost the finishing touch.

            Happy to try for the cheap cleans in defense instead of going 3.2M up from Phillips to TAA. Losing the eight attacker for the bench is a concern - Nacho my main worry here - but with 2 FT into 33 and bench serviceable in itself I should be able to deal with any issues.

      Morning Az, would very much appreciate your views on this WC and plan.........

      Martinez, Forster. ( keeping Martinez had him from GW1 and my lucky charm, OK fixtures and double GW )
      Dias, TAA, Rudiger, Alonso, Holding.
      Salah, Jota, Son, Bruno, Gundo.
      Kane, Nacho, Vydra.
      0.9ITB
      4-5-1 or 4-4-2

      Gundo a one week punt then out for Lingard, and Alonso may become

      No wc but did -28 this gameweek. Biggest hit of my career till now

      Vardy -> Nacho
      Watkins ->Vydra
      Gundogan -> Jota
      Diallo -> Neto
      Alonso -> TAA
      Strujik ->Castange
      Kilman -> Coady
      McCarthy -> Lloris
      I have no wc , have BB. So now i have all playing XI. I can easily transfer castange and Vydra to 6-6.5 M striker and Defender of 4.5 ( have 0.3 in Bank)

      Goodluck to me. But i am not expecting anything this gameweek.

    It's all or nothing, time. I'm chasing down the leaders in my league having succesfully clawed back a huge gap over the last two months. But I can't ease up now.

    I've got two lovely free transfers and 0.8mil in the bank, and have been going round in circles with sensible moves like bringing in either Rudiger for injured Tierney, and Iheanacho up front, and clearing out some Leeds players. But all this talk of Salah has got me excited.

    I really should transfer out KDB for him, what with City rotation risk, but KDB is a differential in my league...

    All these buts are leading me to a crazy Fernandes > Salah transfer along with Tierney > Phillips, leaving me with this:

    Areola
    Phillips, Shaw, Veltman
    Salah(c), KDB, Lingard, Son,
    DCL, Kane (vc), Bamford

    Bench: Martinez, Raphinha, Dallas, Targett

    Next week I have enough cash to get Reguilon in for anyone (maybe Dallas), or a double transfer (for a hit) to bring in Lloris for Areola, which would be much easier to manage in blank gameweek 33.

    I am seeing a lot of Salah/Jota/Trent on WCs, do we think Liv are going to be on fire for t he rest of the season, after just one good game vs Arsenal? I have spread the risk but may well regret going Salah-less

      The good thing about Salah and Trent in particular, is that if it doesn't work out in a couple of weeks you can easily move to any other player in the game.

      That's a huge draw for me.

    Anyone else - non WC - choosing to start Watkins this week?

    Not expecting a hattie of course but Liverpool defence is less than impregnable. The cs against Arsenal was impressive but I'm prepared to ignore the one at Wolves in terms of form.

      Yep - nothing wrong with Watkins at all - despite the regular “he’s a championship striker” nonsense

      He’s an absolute nightmare for defenders, and will severely test whichever two of Phillips/Kabak/Davies Klopp decides to go with

      17 attacking returns in his last 27 has been very good from a 6.0, he could easily make it 20 returns from 30 starts over the next 3 fixtures

          Even me. If Dunk gets lucky with a header we're smiling. Not sure the -4 will be paid back in any way

    Defender for 5.0 or less:

    a) Konsa
    b) Saiss/Coady
    c) Dunk
    d) Lowton/Coufal
    e) Another?

    Already have a cheaper one as 5th.
