How the top 10k FPL managers set their teams up for Double Gameweek 32

Double Gameweek 32 has produced the most-backed Triple Captain of the campaign so far.

Harry Kane (£11.7m) comes into the round with the backing of 359,246 enhanced armbands, the highest accrued by any player in one Gameweek this season.

The Spurs player has actually broken his own record in that respect, having gone into Double Gameweek 26 shouldering 239,588 Triple Captaincies.

Those numbers made for a very one-sided captain’s affair among the top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers.

95.5% of them captained Kane for Double Gameweek 32 while just 3.2% went for Son Heung-min (£9.5m).

Spurs’ Friday-night trip to Everton largely satisfied the masses in the end as Kane scored twice while Son registered his fourth blank from a possible six.

That said, Kane came off with an ankle problem in stoppage time at Goodison Park, putting his chances of starting against Southampton on Wednesday at risk.

Such was the Spurs dominance of the captaincy, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) finished third among the top 10k this week but managed a share of just 0.4% of their armbands.

Unsurprisingly, the Triple Captain was the most popular chip in Double Gameweek 32.

22.6% of the top 10k went for the enhanced armband this weekend, taking the overall usage of it at this level to 95.6%.

Meanwhile, the Wildcard continues to receive some attention, albeit small.

3.1% of the top 10k pulled the trigger on a new squad for Double Gameweek 32, meaning 8.7% of them plan to use the Wildcard in the final six Gameweeks of the season.

After this week’s chip usage, 67.7% of the top 10k have exhausted their supply for the 2020/21 campaign.

27.3% have used three of their chips while 4.6% have two left to use between now and Gameweek 38.

As a result of Kane’s heavy backing in the top 10k, his effective ownership at that level was the highest witnessed this season: 216.8%.

He was also the only asset with over 100% effective ownership with Son sitting in second place at 88.0%.

Of particular note is the fact that Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) and Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.0m) are both in the top five now.

Gameweek 31

Double Gameweek 32

Son was a popular transfer target among the top 10k ahead of Double Gameweek 32.

As you can see from the two squads, his ownership at this level rose by 29.4 percentage points between the two most recent deadlines.

His two Double Gameweek 32 fixtures have helped him rise from the fifth-most-popular midfielder in the top 10k to the most fashionable.

Jesse Lingard (£6.5m) continues his journey to the top-end of top-10k action, now owned by 83.2% of such managers after his latest double-digit haul. 59.8% of them had him for the 14 points he scored against Leicester.

Iheanacho is another significant riser, his Gameweek 31 brace at West Ham helping him jump from 37.7% ownership at this level to 78.3%.

Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford (£6.5m) continues to cling onto a place inside the top-three most popular top 10k forwards.

His ownership in the upper echelons has dropped by 13.3 percentage points but 33.6% of the top 10k still retain faith in the Leeds man.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) has re-emerged in the template after his back-to-back double-figure hauls.

Already, he is the fourth-most-fashionable top-10k defender with ownership of 37.2% for Double Gameweek 32.

Meanwhile, an examination of the Wildcarders in the top 10k gives an indication of some of the potential differentials on offer at this level for the season’s closing stages.

Rob Holding (£4.2m) and Conor Coady (£4.9m) are both significant options for such managers despite not featuring in the top-five defenders in the wider pool of the top 10k.

Meanwhile, 28.6% of these Wildcarders went for Alexandre Lacazette (£8.3m), who has four goals in his last four Premier League matches.

Kane TC. Haven’t seen the game or injury...

Any chance of him playing the next game?

Didn't look great tbh and with the league cup final coming up you could see why he might not risk Kane vs Southampton but we don't know the extent of the injury yet.

Truth is, nobody knows. But looking at Kane's reaction walking off then I think we are safe to assume he's not playing the next match.

        This
Or maybe he was disappointed that he couldn't finish this game where they needed a goal.
        But I don't think he'll play .... Maybe I'm a bit pessimist 😀

I wouldn't be pulling the trigger on it just yet. If Cresswell's injury turns out to be more serious then I'd go for it but he pretty much looked fixture-proof before his injury.

Definitely not pulling the trigger her mate just floating some ideas around, would be reluctant to get rid of Cresswell and will like you say depend on news of his injury if he’s going to be fit I’d get TAA in be doing Son to Maddison I think or Greenwood maybe

      Is that a -8 for 2dfers & a non-playing GK?

Not massively keen. But a TAA attacking return + cleanie + Bonus would quickly claw that back

Yeah this is one what I’m thinking mate, Saiss cleanie too, my defence is Azpila, Cresswell, Dallas,Holding and Dunk at the minute with only Dunk with a favourable fixture this week and it would mean I just have Martinez as a keeper too so rifts money up there

Why are some matches referred to as "6 pters"? Oh, right, because one team gets the points and its opponent doesn't. Would Man City clinch the title faster if they beat Man U this week and not Villa? Yes. So 3 points against Man U are worth more than 3 points against Villa.

Scale that up to millions of players and come back to us.

            1. Utopsis
              • 4 Years
              3 years, 19 hours ago

They're called 6 pointers because there are TWO teams involved.

You are playing against millions - do you really think you could pick another TC that NOBODY around you would (C)?

Meanwhile, whilst you're celebrating your differential TC pick, you are simply closing the points gap you opened to those who DID TC Kane (assuming they score less than 12). Remember, their extra points don't disappear.

              How's that for a comeback?

              1. Nightcrawler

U cant beat everyone all the time especially when such larhe number of ppl are invovled. By a differential pick mean someone who say 70-80% of the top 10k down own

Im just taking the popular TC picks into consideration.

Kane has been the most successful so far. Salah was the 2nd most popular in an earlier dgw but he failed

I havent used my TC so far so its hard to compare but it will be a differential pick for sure and whenver i do use it ill come back to this

Yes, but the extra points the TC Kane captainers are getting on me are just 1x his points (because I have him captained). In general I'm losing 0.17 x his points against the average (EO 217).

I will happily die on the hill that the best time to play TC is on a differential captain, in a gameweek when there are multiple credible captaincy options (so EO for any is not too high), when you have all those other options covered.

Have exact funds to do Gundo > Salah(c) but I’m not sure how long to wait to pull the trigger.

He’s around -55% on fffix, but I find these websites to be fairly hit and miss with falls especially.

I definitely don’t want to be priced out of that move, but it’s going to be a long old GW, and who knows who may get injured (maybe even Salah himself!).

How long would you wait before pulling the trigger?

But I can already see I’m gunna do this transfer no matter what as Salah will be (c).

              Fair dos

Have a similar move lined up but just holding fire and willing to take the hit. Also rather think that Nacho is the better captain choice on form (personal and team) and for the defence he's playing against. Palace are just the worst team in the league away right now but that's another question 🙂

Son has done well in games when Kane was injured before. Just because he's benefitted from doing well when Kane plays doesn't mean he couldn't do well without Kane.

Brace from my TC is okayish. With WC left, decent team and tv and OR about 240k I am out off top 10k, but top 100k shouldn't be too difficult to reach. I should also win my cash league.

Another season and every point matters, but this anomaly 🙁 I simply don't care, I am waiting for the summer to start.

I sprained my ankle on an astro pitch playing left back years ago. Astro League, a brutal level of football and I was worse than brutal. Scored a goal and walked off. Walking off has little or no bearing on the severity of the injury. Will have to wait for any swelling to go down before any injury can be assessed.

I like Kane, captained him and don’t wish injury on anyone but... injuries to big hitters usually have the interesting FPL effect of mixing things up. If he is out, at least it’s another way of being different. Disrupt the template!

    1. GreennRed
      • 12 Years
      3 years, 18 hours ago

It won't. Sellers will buy the template replacement.

If one emerges, but maybe to start with it won’t be that clear? That’s the hope anyway. And I say that as someone whose WC last week was very template!

Plenty will veer towards Vardy because they're priced similarly, even if he's not on form. Ignoring potential from Wilson, Iheanacho, Cavani etc for much less. I honestly think plenty equate higher price with better quality, but cheaper picks can do as well if not better.

Yes, definitely something in that. I’d be tempted to bring Watkins back with a nice 33 fixture and future double in mind. Iheanacho already proved great value.

Gotta get some sleep. Good luck Pascal with whoever you pick. Was thinking it'd be mighty if Aguero could hit the heights again for his final PL games. FFS should have an Aguero day near GW38 if he does leave English football to mark the last day's of an FPL legend.

There isn't a template replacement. Also Son has been poor without Kane this year so he too likely goes. Then there is the DGW coming up - one with more teams than two doubling likely. That's likely followed by a blank.

Ankle. Rolled over by Richarlison. Not a doctor, but looked to me like an ankle twist you can walk off in a day or two.

Looks like an ankle roll which many of us would recover from quickly enough, but it's harder to say when Kane has history of injuries in that area.

Looking way ahead to gw33. Will wait on these, but getting my thinking right.
    Mendy
    Holding, Rudiger, TAA, Coufal
    Salah, Jota, Lingard, Bruno
    Nacho, Vydra
    (Forster*; Amartey, Kane*, Son*)

2FTs, 0itb -- Likely to do Son > Maddison, but need to figure out the second FT.
    1) Amartey > Veltman or Dunk
    2) Forster > Sanchez (then bench Mendy)

      It’s really +12 in 32, +8 in 26 as you’d likely captain him anyway
