Salah on the bench as Raphinha misses Leeds’ meeting with Liverpool

A trio of key Fantasy Premier League assets have missed out on the starting line-ups of Leeds’ Double Gameweek 32 meeting with Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is on the bench as for the first time since Double Gameweek 19 after a string of 12 successive Premier League starts.

Diogo Jota (£7.0m) is on the right-hand side of Liverpool’s front-three this evening, joined there by Roberto Firmino (£9.0m) and Sadio Mané (£11.7m).

Recent newcomer to the Fantasy radar Nathaniel Phillips (£4.1m) misses out with a hamstring injury tonight, drawing Fabinho (£5.4m) back into a centre-back role alongside Ozan Kabak (£5.0m).

Consequently, James Milner (£5.3m), Georginio Wijnaldum (£5.3m) and Thiago Alcantara (£5.5m) are the midfield trio for Liverpool tonight.

Raphinha (£5.5m) is also out of the matchday squad for Leeds following the injury he picked up against Manchester City.

Jack Harrison (£5.4m) returns for the Whites after missing the trip to the Etihad Stadium due to being ineligible.

Liam Cooper (£4.3m) is absent tonight through suspension so Pascal Struijk (£4.0m) returns to the side at centre-back with Diego Llorente (£4.4m).

Double Gameweek 32 Line-ups

Leeds United XI (4-1-4-1): Meslier; Alioski, Llorente, Struijk, Ayling; K Phillips; Costa, Roberts, Dallas, Harrison; Bamford.

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Robertson, Kabak, Fabinho, Alexander-Arnold; Thiago, Wijnaldum, Milner; Mané, Firmino, Jota.

Double Gameweek 32 so far…

    Here's an interesting question.

    What is harder to find?

A PL quality CB or a PL quality striker?

I'd say CB is harder. Bamford and a few other attackers have been able to do quite well. But to find a CB that is actually PL quality is huge. Andersen at Fulham is the only reason they haven't been relegated yet.

        Maybe not interesting to you...

The fact that there are very few stand out strikers is notable this season as well. Only Kane has consistently proven to be great. So maybe finding a top quality forward is harder because there are fewer to go around?

        There are arguments both ways.

U could argue the lack of pl quality striker is why fulham are not safe yet

In fact i think thats actually very true. Defending in general is easier and u see a lot of average defenders have very good fullseasons (caulker lovren etc spring to mind) but not a lot of average strikers have very good full seasons

True. I find Villa's CB recruitment particularly impressive. Both Mings and Konsa started in the lower leagues. Excellent partnership. Think PL clubs should probably look more closely at the Championship rather than targetting players from other European leagues (or further afield).

      • 6 Years

I would argue its harder to find PL quality striker mainly due to the fact that a lot of good centre backs from other leagues ought to do well in PL, but only a few of other top 5 league strikers make success in PL, a lot of them fail

It's probably easier to work around not having a PL quality CB in other ways; good partnerships (or well-drilled partnerships between ok defenders), organisation, pressing aggressively from front-to-back. Scoring goals, though, you need someone with some quality for.

Another question back to you, which is the bigger step up from Championship to PL; at CB or at Sriker? I suspect that CB is the bigger step up when you get to play against those rare, top quality attackers for the first time.

No benefit for German clubs as club policy is 51% has to be owned by fans. So owners only own 49% so it doesn't make sense for them to go ESL. Also fans have a say and can decide if they want the club to go or not.

Not sure about Bayern but I am aware that RBL is not looked at in a positive manner by fans of many German clubs because they are artificially financially backed. But I thought they would have the 49/51 split.

That poll on the FFS website is interesting as whilst it won’t make any impact on me making any changes this season because of the ESL, it might do if it starts to impacts the players.

Villa’s social media team are clearly already gearing themselves up for the Man City game and I do wonder if any of the negativity could impact City’s players performance.

Why are people scared I don't get it. They said that they will still play the domestic championships, this is battle against UEFA, since they are not fairly compensating the best clubs.

Why leave it to byrocrates when you can take the matters in your own hand.

      Totally logical imo.

If Margaret Thatcher or Milton Freedman were here, both of them would have support it

Thatcher would have supported it? Confirmation it's morally bankrupt then.

Where’s the competition. No more Top 4 or fighting for Europe. In this ESL it’s just a load of glorified friendlies. No promotion or relegation. What happens when a team loses their first 3/4 games? Is there season over after a couple of weeks?

It takes away competition. This will be the start of a world league. If you don’t like domestic football then fine support this Euro league and the Americans and JP Morgan making more money. I for one think football is more than dollars and jealousy from other leagues. It’s about community, family, socialising and more than anything giving chances to any team.

Mate, you're playing in the ESL and that's where your bread is buttered right, so what kind of 2nd string team do you think they will field for PL games...will be awful. Although perhaps with all that money the greedy lot can afford two whole 1st squads to compete in both. Any way you cut it, ESL is not the way forward.

For those who know what I am on about, this ESL will be like Crickets version of this 45 years ago when Kerry Packer put in millions to create World Series Cricket (WSC). It still has an impact on today’s cricket. God help football. And that’s coming from a Swindon fan whose club is on the verge of doing a Bury and ceasing to exist.

Son to Greenwood? I can bring him back for Bruno next week if needed. It will give me much needed cash for a BB in GW 35

Should be point deduction for own assist as for own goal. no?

Should be. Own assists are much more often actual player mistakes than own goals that are usually just unlucky deflections.
